How to Remove Fearful Feeling from Past Memories

The memories of past experiences such as abuse or an automobile accident can elicit fearful feelings. An adult who was abused at a younger age who is presently in a safe environment can have fearful feelings by having thoughts of the abusive experience.

The fear eliciting thoughts can be triggered by different types of stimulation.

    • The smell of the aftershave lotion of a male attacker
    • The sound of automobile tires screeching
    • Seeing a photograph of an abuser

In other words, the things we hear, smell, taste and feel can trigger fearful memories.

    How to remove the fearful responses to memories has been a study of mine for many years. The various methods seem to have a common approach of replacing the fear with a love energy. Some examples are;

Affirmations: Telling yourself a thousand times an empowering love message

Spiritual: Asking for the fear to be transmuted by the loving grace of God

Journaling: Finding a perspective that will create a neurological thought process to see the past with a meaning of love

My studies has resulted in me creating an effective process to remove these types of fearful response feelings.

    Technical Explanation of the Process

Many fear responses that people have are illusions. For example; a person knows the abuser is dead and cannot hurt them, but thoughts associated with the abuser can trigger the fearful response feelings.

The process does not change your understanding of another. An abuser who you refer to as a lower portion of the anatomy will still have that perspective. The process transmutes the fear the attacker or situation created in you. It frees you of the negative fearful responses associated with the person or experience.

    Many times a memory that is triggered by a smell, sound, sight, etc. will trigger a visually recalled memory (A picture in their mind). Some examples are;

    • The location of the abuse
    • The face of the abuser
    • The scene of the automobile accident

When you watch a film in a movie theater and the scenes have an unrealistic situation, you can take the perspective, “This is only trickery”. In other words, the visuals of the super-heroes making an unbelievable rescue or the scene from a spaceship going in light speed can all be concluded as an illusion. The “Movie Illusion” is the basis of the process.

    The Process

    Step One:

Make a list of times when you experienced unconditional love

    • The birth of a child
    • Picking a puppy out of a litter of cats or dogs
    • The times your child touched you with their loving ways

Make a list of times when you had a sacred experience or things that you revere (reverence).

    • A sacred place
    • People or things you revere or venerate

Make a list of the times when you felt appreciation or the things you appreciate

    • The times your signification others touched your heart
    • The physical things in your life; home, car, safe environment etc.

    Step Two:

Feel the feeling of appreciation, unconditional love and reverence. Looking down to the right will allow you to feel the feeling deeper.

    Step Three:

Visualize yourself walking into a movie theater and sitting in the last row. Then visualize yourself sitting in row in front of you. In other words, see the back of your head, the color of your hair and the clothes you are wearing etc.

Note: Seeing yourself in front you creates a “Double Dissociation”. This perspective allows for memories to be recalled as an illusion, therefore, not have a fearful response.

    Step Four:

See the past image of the attacker or the situation that created the fear on the on the movie screen.

    Step Five:

Feel the feelings of unconditional love, appreciation and reverence as you see yourself sitting in front of you with the fear inducing image on the move screen. Feel the feelings of unconditional love, appreciation and reverence to the picture.

Step Six: Repeat the process with any images you choose to transmute.

Step Seven: Repeat the process using the image of the earth on the screen.

This process truly looks very very much, about identical, to NLP processes i have learned and used for desentization, for example in cases of deep phobias.

Had forgotten to add that it does work. However for things as deep as sexual abuse in childhood for example, much more maybe needed, thos process would only be part of the treatment most probably. My opinion here

Thanks, Monica Lewinski triggered mine. I didn't vote for Clinton, so when she pops up via GOP Karl Rove during an election year just to stir it up, I fell for it, and blasted her for blaming internet for her open mouthed disgrace in the WH to a sitting married President. She said she was young, but young women slept their way up to the top lot of times back then. Besides if she wanted to not be "bullied on the media/net" she should have stayed out of the lime light, so to speak. She should have gone to a woman's group to find out her shortcomings and then dyed her hair, changed her name to Lewis, and faded into the woodwork, but no, she has to go on and say the internet bullied her. If Hillary could have gotten her hands around that pudgy little neck, I think she'd have had more than a bully on her hands. And I'm not for Hillary either. I'm a Bernie Sanders or Elizabeth Warren Independent Progressive. The thing is, I let anger get in and now must do meditation to get "me" back. Just talking about "triggers."

just a "by the way", I believe you are talking about dissociative rather than disassociative.

Past lives are only a part of who we are. Because we continue to progress.
But if you have a past life memory that was traumatic and it really effects you,,,,,,,,,, then finding some others who have traumatic past life memories should start to help a lot with accepting the fact.

It is a lot easier today with the help of Youtube videos that many people are sharing on line.

OBwan- TY for such detail. It looks interesting.

I would like to add the process of "tapping". where one goes thru a series of tapping on meridian lines along with saying a series of statements related to the emotional blocking. The anger or distressed emotion is sequenced first. Eventually leading to forgiveness and crying.

Sounds like an excellent technique OBwan and very similar to something called 'Matrix Reimprinting' which EFT master Karl Dawson developed as an additional tool to the tapping itself. In his version, the subject is put in a relaxed (though not hypnotised) state and guided to the traumatic memory. The subject then speaks with their younger self and explores the feelings and emotions they're experiencing, offering them comfort and attempting to gauge an appropriate solution and 're-interpretation' to the traumatic event. The idea is that the memory is 'reimprinted' with more positive and less traumatic effects, thus helping the subject to move on.

The real issue though is with memories that are suppressed and rule our everyday behaviour from the subconscious. It's my own belief that it's really only if these suppressed memories can be brought to light that real healing can occur. On this very course I witnessed a fascinating case of such a retrieval. This woman (about 40 years old) had basically had a life long phobia that she smelled really awful, and particularly of a mens urinal. It was a phobia that had significant impact on her life and often she wouldn't leave the house and socialise due to this long held (irrational) belief.

Anyway, during one of the practices when we were tapping she recovered a childhood memory from about 4 years old. She went to bed one night and her parents were having a party with lots of guests. She woke up late in the night and there was a man standing by her bed drunk out of his mind pissing on the floor right next to her. She was obviously terrified and hid under the covers. A while later her mother came in to check on her and found the urine on the floor. She went ballistic and yelled at her, telling the child what a dirty girl she was, obviously thinking it was the girl herself who had wee'd on the floor.

Imagine that....a phobia for life and no memory of it happening, until this EFT/Matrix Reimprinting course. Just shows how we're all run by the most unconscious programs..........
