MO, it seems your position is overlooking a few critical aspect of the equation.

For one, there are swaths (not sure on percentages, but its not insignificant) who are beholden to the system for their life and livelihood. The infrastructure cannot be reformed overnight, no matter how big the consensus. In fact, it would take days (at the least) simply to identify the scope of the consensus!

For two, there are swaths who don't feel the infrastructure needs changing! Individuals who want change akin to what you describe aren't the only ones entitled to pursue their 'ideal'.
