It's my all-time favorite episode of The Twilight Zone.

Rod Serling's brilliant expose of human paranoia, illogical fear, the power of suggestion, exponential conflation, mob mentality, poor analytical skills leading to incorrect assumptions, "temporary insanity", destructive and self-destructive behavior...

The ending of the episode is cheesy, but I think the video has a powerful message, worth remembering. Oh sure, we are not likely to allow ourselves to go quite this crazy, but I see evidence of this mindset all the time.

dennis/ thanks for posting. love this episode and grew up on the twilight zone. camera angles long shadows, black and white and great writing. it all helped form me.

The Twilight Zone is my all-time favorite TV series and "The Monsters Are Due on Maple Street" is also one of my favorite episodes along with "Third From The Sun." Rod Serling was way ahead of his time and his series launched many a star's careers.
