Default Asthma..... What works for you?

What has helped you to deal with or resolve your asthma problems?

I've had asthma since I was a kid, I'm 64 now. As a child I often had to be taken to the emergency room after enduring several hours of restricted breathing waiting for tablet type medications to work. At the hospital I would be given a shot, epinephrine I believe, and all would be well. Finally Primatene Mist came out, over the counter, and immediate relief was at hand. Worked well for me for over 50 years. My need for it has been up and down, sometimes 2 or 3 times a week, sometimes I could go for months without an episode.

Then to save our atmosphere, Primatene Mist was taken off the market, because of the propellant. Now instead of an over the counter med available at the grocery store for $12 or so I get to spend $60 at the pharmacy, after of course getting a prescription from the doctor. Oh well.

But my real concern is that in the last year I've gone from having 2 or 3 attacks a week to having to use my inhaler 6 or 7 times through the day and night. Not sure what has changed other than stress levels, (my wife's alzheimers), and heavy bombardment by the lovely chemtrails over our very rural mountains.

So..... any ideas, alternative treatments etc. that have helped you?

A nebulizer would help. When you go to the hospital they give you ventilation therapy. Sometimes they give that to you in the doctors office as well. It can be purchased over the counter at Walgreens and they give you little vials of Albuterol sulfate use with the machine. I have also used the nebulizer with Soverign Silver solution.

I hope that info was helpful! This year has been extremely bad! I am by Chicago.

alzheimers is a third form of diabetes and also can be treated

food is a medicine so a dietician a Chinese one who specialise in alzheimers. if you can afford it maybe Qigong doctor who might be able to help. I would also try Yiquan which is great for the blood immune system works out the kinks in the system and chi breathing can help.

I am not a expert in alzheimers there are those who know a lot more of this than I sorry all I know all best

This is very unusual but I have heard of a few others where this is the case, too. I don't recommend trying this, but share it as an example of what causes and/or cures asthma may be quite different from person to the next. I had asthma throughout my childhood into adulthood. I was on asthma meds and a daily inhaler. Stupidly (or maybe not?), I started smoking cigarettes socially, which turned into a habit. Side effect: My asthma disappeared. It only reappeared years later when I tried to quit smoking! I've since cut way back, but still find the scenario to be the same.

I do feel things tightening up, however, on days when they (whoever is doing it...) are aerosol spraying (geo-engineering/chemtrails), as you do. I don't have to look up to know they're doing it and I'll bet you don't either.

(Pressing at the space in-between where the clavicles meet (seems to be an acupressure spot) can be helpful, too.

How I Cured My Asthma With One Simple Lifestyle Change

This article covers ideas for prevention and treatment. Some I could relate to. No doubt, Patty’s Alzheimer’s disease is a major factor for you these days. When my son passed, it brought it on big time. I made life changing decisions when I was up to two different inhalers and a nebulizer.

Some suggestion that come to mind is be aware of the foods that are triggers. (You already know about a healthy diet.) Pay attention to things like air out a new shower curtain before use. Use natural cleaning products. If cold air is a problem then breathe into a scarf as needed.

A friend of mine adopted my cats that I’d been allergic to. And Tai Chi and Chi Kung promotes long, slow breathing, stress reduction and relaxation.

I found the chemical 'gaulfenisin' (I think that's the spelling) which can be found in Tussin, as well as other liquids, pills, etc. to be extremely helpful. Additionally, the Mullin plant is attributed to being good for asthma, and I am inclined to agree because since I moved to an area that has Mullin growing wild and profusely, my asthma symptoms have vanished.

Specifically - and this hasn't been confirmed by any professionals, it's purely conjecture - it seems that my asthma symptoms were being caused by living in an area that was heavily saturated GMO corn and tomato crops. Between the Mullin and the absence of GMO crops in my current locale (and I live adjacent to huge orchards and get spray off, so it's not an uncontaminated area) I have no asthma symptoms. It could be attributable to something else, but it bears consideration.

I don't know if this would apply to your case, but....

Watch out for the inhalers. I had what was diagnosed as "asthma" for years. I finally went cold turkey on the inhalers and the "asthma" immediately went away. The doctors prescribed various things including inhalers. I mostly used Serevent inhalers. When I found that my "asthma" went away when I stopped using the inhalers, I looked up the side effects. One of the side effects of using Serevent was "difficulty breathing".

I've seen this time and time again where pharmaceuticals actually cause the symptoms one is trying to treat/cure. It's great for corporate business revenue! Not so good for people, though.

Sometimes difficulty with the lungs can be due to problems with the liver so detoxification and herbs to support the liver may help. My condition improved dramatically when I started using Essiac tea, which is good tea for detoxification and liver support. After drinking Essiac tea for quite awhile, I was able to quit the inhalers.

Also, there can be other causes which are more of a spiritual nature having to do with past trauma including past life trauma. Spiritual Rescue Technology (SRT) may be helpful in that case.

    Hi there!

As a person whose asthma was often set off by DUST or plant particulate (!), I feel your pain.

As natural species are replaced by more noxious ones, the nature of your personal allergies may change. Also any increase in carcinogens in your environs will trigger asthma or irritable lungs/allergies, according to recent findings

Apparently those who have allergies have less cancer, but it's not a fair trade.
Good thing for you, there are some things that can help.

A prescription for a plain old Albuterol (or similar?) inhaler is a good idea.
    It's saved my life LOL.

But when you can't get to your medicine, the #1 thing I've found is to drink some fairly cold water. Or any water. because asthma creates the sensation of choking etc. and water helps relax the throat, maybe calm down the blood vessels etc. who knows. but it works. Anytime recently that I've walked or jogged through dust or plants, water seems to keep the asthma attack from fully developing into an emergency.

Due to your spouse it may not be practical to jog. So some at-home heart/lung workout is a must for conditioning those stressed lungs. Just be careful at your age.

Also some people find relief from allergies and asthma attacks through Marijuana, although it can be linked perhaps to emphysema and can make your thirsty.

any drug while exercising can affect your health !

    I hope this helps.

My asthma is allergy related. My sinuses fill up and then drip into my lungs.

So I started using a neti pot, which cleared my sinus and kept my lungs free of mucus. No more need for inhaler.

I forgot about the neti pot. They also sell them at the supermarket. I use filtered water rather than distilled water as mentioned in the video.

Buteyko method - basically hold your breath after the out breath, for a count of 10-15 (whatever you can muster) then breath in up to 80% through nostrils, exhale really slowly, then repeat...

I was diagnosed with Asthma when I was 40....was told I was going to be on a steroid inhaler twice a day for the rest of my life plus another one for any attacks.....I was on these for a couple of years, gained a load of weight and then once day decided I needed to lose weight....I joined Herbal Magic and thought if I am paying all this money and going on this diet I am not going to take this inhaler any more.....so I quit cold turkey and for about two weeks would break into coughing any time I laughed......but after that no problem......its been about 14 years now and still no asthma. I dont know if it was mind over matter, i was so determined not to take these steroids that were causing weight gain (although my doctor told me that was nonsense) or the fact that I lost some weight

I cured my girlfriend's asthma by bringing home seaweed 3 times a week, and suggesting she lay off the soy sauce. Iodine might help too. She hasn't had an attack in over a year.

    MSM (Methlysulfurmethane) may also help.

    http://betweenthetemples.com/2011/08...pplementation/

Quote While using Iodoral, I noticed the following unexpected benefits above and beyond what I found in my research:

Allergies subsided – I had horrendous allergies, sinus infections exacerbated by certain foods, working outside, and changes in the season. Imagine my surprise after being on iodine for a few weeks when I went outside to mow and finished without a single sneeze. Further my eyes were not red or watering, and I was not congested. No medications or other treatments did this.
Asthma disappeared – Shortly after beginning my iodine supplementation, asthma attacks associated with yard work or exercise and even foods vanished. I did not find anyone mentioning this when I first did the research on iodine. Since then I have found some interesting tid-bits.

Asthma is a heart chakra complex...what is also known as a skandha.

This usually manifests in the person from as early as ages 4 to 7 years...but there is no real rule as to it's involvement in your current life...as fast as it appears in our life, it can depart also.

It is a past life complex...like an old habit or tendency...which involves a reluctance...or even an inability...to express our self verbally or emotionally...it resides in the emotional body, or envelope, of the person...and accompanies the new incarnating envelopes or auras at birth.

This complex is part of our true self overall makeup or 'personality' and becomes part of the 'things to sort out' in the current life...if it manifests in that life...because it can take many incarnations before the time and place is probable for it to be addressed and resolved.

Many external factors can trigger the episode but they all affect the heart chakra and in specific they cause the complex or skandha to cause the temporary breakdown of the breathing cycle and a restriction of the airways.

You might have noticed when a child or even a grown person has a little tantrum...they sometimes stop breathing for a few seconds...and then it sometimes takes a smack or a jolt to jerk the kid/person back to reality...failure to do so can be fatal in some cases because breathing ceases.

This process happens because the person's belief has been imposed on and they lack the knowledge or ability to verbally defend their stance in life...be it correct or not.

This condition can be difficult to correct because it involves the truth from the person during these episodes...and many are reluctant to give out inner secrets.

So, if possible, one should pay careful attention to your attitude during these episodes and attempt to analyse the inner emotion...for in there, lies the root of the problem.

    Take care
    Ray

I agree with you on the Guaifenesin. It is a great, relatively natural drug derived from the bark of the guaiac tree that acts very quickly as an expectorant. This helps to increase the flow of respiratory secretions and can provide some additional relief to an asthmatic.

A word of caution, however, in that as benign as this sounds, there have been rare cases where Guaifenesin has contributed to pulmonary edema 'crisis', so should not be used in pregnancy (especially with toxemia) or situations of recent physical trauma ("fight or flight" situations).

    Acute Pulmonary Edema

Wow! Much information to sort through. I just want to thank everyone for contributing their experiences here. Now of course I've got to do the hard part..... which of course appears to be "lifestyle change", the tough stuff. Since unfortunately no one came up with a magic incantation I could use.

It's always easy in a stressful time in your life to let your "good habits" slip by the wayside and revert to old bad habits that bring you comfort. But eventually life slaps you upside the head enough to make you realize it's time to shape up. Hence this thread.....

I'll try and keep you updated as I go along and try to get myself back on track.

ps... an interesting observation. I had gotten a pm in response to the alzheimers thread, commenting that my heart was broken. Then Finefeather mentions that asthma is a heart chakra complex.... very interesting correlation there. I don't know much about chakras, guess I best do some studying.

    Thanks again!
