"Bitter Lake" - Adam Curtis's brilliant new documentary about Afghanistan and interventionalist politics
"Increasingly, we live in a world where nothing makes any sense. Events come and go like waves of a fever, leaving us confused and uncertain. Those in power tell stories to help us make sense of the complexity of reality, but those stories are increasingly unconvincing and hollow.”
Thus begins the 2+ hour documentary, which focuses on Afghanistan, a once beautiful stable nation that has been caught in the cross fire between The U.S.A., the U.S.S.R., Saudi Arabia and England.
No mention of the Illuminati, or the Cabal, or the deepest levels of politics, or any need to, although there is a lot of forgotten history that proves to be history altering, such as Roosevelt's meeting with Saudi King Abdulaziz at Bitter Lake, in the Suez Canal, in 1945. Also, it does touch on how corrupt banking cartels have screwed with our politics. Frankly there is no need to look that deep, here. One can see how interventionist politics, even practiced with good intentions, can lead things to go horribly and violently wrong.
