Well, it doesn't seem particulalry smart to make a big announcement that he's going to put it up- why doesn't he just put it up? Then it's done and out there.
Teakai, I thought that too, until I sat and worked it through my mind. By announcing it, they prepare hundreds of millions of people around the world to look for it and read it. When I googled Julian Assange wikileaks November 24, 2010, it showed almost half a million hits.

If they did not announce it prior to posting, the government(s) would silently swoop in and close down the site(s) before people even knew of the existence of the information. I would think that they would have more than one site ready to post this....who knows.

Quote U.S. embassies around the world are warning allies that WikiLeaks might be poised to release classified cables that could negatively impact relations by revealing sensitive assessments and exposing U.S. sources, a State Department spokesman said Thursday.

The State Department has prepared for the possible release - which WikiLeaks has said would be seven times larger than the Iraq files released last month - by reviewing thousands of diplomatic cables and "assessing the potential consequences of the public release of these documents," spokesman P.J. Crowley said.

Crowley said State does not know "exactly what WikiLeaks has or what they plan to do," but the consequences to American interests could be severe. The cables, for instance, could reveal that senior government officials in other countries are the sources of embarrassing information about the inner workings of those governments, thus making it more difficult for the State Department to obtain such intelligence in the future.

"Without getting into specifics, typical cables describe summaries of meetings, analysis of events in other countries and records of confidential conversations with officials of other governments and with members of civil society," Crowley said. "They are classified for a very good reason. They contain sensitive information and reveal sources of information that impact our national interests and those of other countries."

Crowley added that "the lives of people who provide us valuable information and perspective are being put at risk. They help us understand what is happening around the world and inform our policies and actions."

WikiLeaks has bedeviled the Obama administration with a series of damaging revelations about U.S. policy overseas. In July, it released more than 70,000 military reports on the war in Afghanistan and in October nearly 400,000 reports on the Iraq war. "Next release is 7 [times] the size of the Iraq War Logs," WikiLeaks stated in a posting on its Twitter page Nov. 21.

WikiLeaks has not disclosed the source of the materials. But suspicion has centered on Pfc. Bradley Manning, 22, an Army intelligence analyst whom the military arrested this year, charging him with the downloading and transfer of classified material.

In the past, WikiLeaks has provided a small group of news organizations with an advance peek at the information, with an understanding that their reports would be released simultaneously at a pre-agreed time. The Washington Post has never been part of such an arrangement with WikiLeaks.

WikiLeaks was founded in 2006 by a former computer hacker, Julian Assange. The organization has been under stress in recent months, with several members quitting, citing differences with Assange and the direction of the group. Assange is facing allegations in Sweden of rape and sexual harassment, which he has denied, saying the charges are part of a U.S.-orchestrated smear campaign.

The cables could also show that allies sometimes take private actions that directly contradict publicly declared policies. The London-based daily al-Hayat reported that WikiLeaks is planning to release files that show Turkey has helped al-Qaeda in Iraq - and that the United States has helped the PKK, a Kurdish rebel organization. The documents reportedly suggest that the U.S. has supported the PKK, which has been waging a separatist war against Turkey since 1984 and has been classified by the State Department as a terrorist organization since 1979.

News reports from around the globe indicate that foreign governments are bracing for the impact of the revelations.

U.S. ambassador to Canada David Jacobson has already phoned Minister of Foreign Affairs Lawrence Cannon to inform him of the matter, the Foreign Affairs department told the Canadian Press. Foreign Affairs spokeswoman Melissa Lantsman said the Canadian Embassy in Washington is "currently engaging" with the U.S. State Department on the matter.

In Australia, the Department of Foreign Affairs and other agencies in Canberra, including the Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet, met to discuss the leaks, which a senior Australian government official said had prompted a "strong measure of concern," according to the Australian newspaper. "The whole thing is pretty big," the official said.

"We condemn what WikiLeaks is doing," Crowley said. "Its actions are gratuitous, harm relations among countries and erode the trust that enables governments to cooperate and collaborate and work together to resolve regional and global challenges. Little good will come from what WikiLeaks has indicated it plans to do."

    UPDATE:

    Canberra on alert for WikiLeaks

AUSTRALIAN officials are bracing for a massive leak of classified US State Department cables.
These cables could include embarrassing disclosures about Canberra's secret diplomacy on controversial issues, such as the war in Iraq.

The Gillard government was one of several foreign governments put on notice about the leaks, expected to be released within days by whistleblower group WikiLeaks.

So seriously is the issue being taken that several sources told The Australian it was raised during a phone call yesterday morning between Foreign Minister Kevin Rudd and US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton to discuss the crisis on the Korean peninsula.

It is understood the Department of Foreign Affairs and other agencies in Canberra, including the Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet, met to discuss the leaks, which a senior Australian government official said had prompted a "strong measure of concern".

"The whole thing is pretty big," the official said.

The latest tranche of classified documents could comprise more than two million diplomatic cables sent between the State Department and its posts around the world.

Australian government agencies are bracing for the worst, "in part because we simply don't know just how bad it might be", the Australian official said.

The disclosure would be the third major leak by WikiLeaks.

The organisation released 77,000 documents on Afghanistan in July, followed by a second leak of 400,000 files on the Iraq war.

WikiLeaks has said the pending disclosure will be seven times the size of the Iraq leak, about 2.8 million documents.

A second source told The Australian senior officials inside the Defence Department were concerned some cables could refer to the Howard government's support for the 2003 invasion of Iraq.

The Australian has been told the leaked cables include material sent up until February this year and predate the Iraq war.

This raises the possibility the Rudd government could also be exposed.

The Howard government did not commit Australia to war until March 2003, following a request from then US president George W. Bush.

But speculation has long been swirling that the Howard government had privately signed on to the controversial war well in advance of the formal request - a charge flatly denied by former foreign minister Alexander Downer. He condemned WikiLeaks yesterday for leaking the documents, while at the same time playing down their significance: "Do I think these particular documents would be incriminating or damning? I think the answer to that is no."

The Howard government predeployed forces to the Middle East in advance of committing to the war, but said that was just sensible contingency planning should diplomatic efforts to ease the impasse with Saddam Hussein fail.

Australian officials are also said to be on the lookout for documents discussing Canberra's handling of the David Hicks and Mamdouh Habib cases, both of whom claimed they were mistreated while in US custody in Guantanamo Bay.

I hope they NAIL THESE BA$TARDS to the Wall if Guilty..! Scumbag UN Globalist Kevin Rudd, Fabian Socialist Julia Gillard, Freemason John Howard, Alexander Downer, etc. The WHOLE BLOOY LOT OF THEM..!

I can't wait to see the Fallout, and I hope it brings down the UNELECTED Fabian Socialist Labor Govt!

My guess none of these crooks will be sleeping very well for a few nights and possibly long after Wikileaks releases the dirt!
This is really bringing conspiracy into the mainstream, isn't it?
I've alwasy considered wikileaks to be alternative media. It seems strange for the mainstream to be drawing so much attention to it.
There are going to be people who get curious and check out wikileaks and then wake up.
I wonder if it is the 'ptb' losing control.
    or
This is about giving the public a really good reason about why the internet needs censoring.

I wonder what he's waiting for. If he's doing deals with the 'ptb', then....

Oh yeah - and there's that, Snowbird

But then, alternative media sites share information in the blink of an eye. It could be up for 10 minutes and within an hour it would have spread like wildfire all over the internet.
This seems to be a rather long wait from announcement to getting the info out and I wonder why.
To build anticipation seems a bit P.R.ish.
It seems to me, once you announce that you're going to drop a bomb shell (that may well jeopardise your life - and you fully intend to drop that bombshell - you drop it while you can - you don't give anyone or anything the chance to scr*w that up.

Whoever is "LEAKING" this stuff is where the action probably is..... I think Wikileaks is, at best, being used to blow out the truth movement. I'm not sure about Julian himself yet but I'm pretty sure Wikileaks is going to wreck the truth movement if it goes on like this. His impending arrest isn't going to fool me otherwise. Julian is now, even if he wasn't earlier, a disposable patsy.

What's the betting that they will soon "leak" the 'granit missile' version of the 9/11 pentagon event? All this stuff they are feeding us, through a rapidly reaching meltdown temperature wikileaks, isn't really going to blow a lid off the secrets they are NOT willing to share, like errr... Solar Warden, the Giza excavations etc.... naaaaa... all it's doing is perpetuating the war on terror scam in a slightly novel new way that they also hope will severely nobble the truth movement/alternative news world.

I've seen so many MSM articles such as this one in the past couple days... http://news.ca.msn.com/top-stories/c...entid=26501955

Starting to make me go hmm... Seems odd that they would make this so public if they are really afraid of the release. Also noticed that Julian mentions it will change the world's view as Cliff High mentions the same thing in his webbot report. Hmmm Hmmm Hmmm... ??? Something is fishy about it all don't you think?

The governments seem to be running scared and are in panic mode and there hasn't even been a release of information yet only an announcement of one. They have already virtually admitted that some of them have been conducting illegal and criminal acts in their own and foreign countries. This isn't news to many people but it could be big news to the majority of the public and could involve huge ramifications for many politicians and others. If what the governments are worried about in this next release is true then it certainly might change the way a large proportion of the public views their governments.

The local newspaper here made a main article about the Wikileaks today.
I personally will download the whole data from Wikileaks when they release it.
Only the truth will help us to fight against the governments.
I wonder how the U.S government have been keeping all the documents which inevitably cut their own throat.
I mean most corrupted regime usually destroy whole documents for evading or getting away their crimes in modern history.
Maybe there are hidden forces which TPTB can not control?
It's interesting to watch these whole disclosure movement in various areas on Internet.

How about the 9/11 which triggered whole mess in the first place? The U.S government deliberately destroyed physical evidences, killed many witnesses, still ignoring the mounting demands of reinvestigation and evidences.

Gary McKinnon has been fighting against British and U.S government for extradite since 2002.
Whatever it was Gary found in NASA and Pentagon , U.S government want to bring him in U.S, put him in jail over 60 years for keeping his mouth shut forever with ridiculous damage claims.

They do not want to reveal the evidences which tells who they really are. Period.

I pray for all the brave souls. The history will be rewritten.

This Wikileaks thing is a fraud, phony as a three dollar bill, HS could shut it down in in a heart beat, notice how they are doing absolutely nothing? I am not sure what the game is but I am not expending any time or energy on that trail.

There's a bigger game plan going on than just governmental secrecy. In the final endgame behind all these shinanigans is a tick box with 'Take down National Governments' printed next to it. Wilileaks is chipping away at the organizational structures of both the alternative news/truth movement AND National governments. 2 birds with one stone.

With these documents, I just hope and pray that there is nothing within this to reflect on China. This could be huge. If there is leaks in the regarding China, I will go back to asking questions about wilileaks.com, for this would just be to on that spot, given what is going on out there just now.

    Possible document Release from Monday
    28 Nov
The Sunday Telegraph has learnt that the first tranche of documents, to be
published in full tomorrow after an initial release tonight, are expected to
feature "lively commentaries" by US diplomats on world leaders, including Nelson
Mandela, Robert Mugabe, the Zimbabwean president, Hamid Karzai, the president of
Afghanistan, and Libya's Colonel Muammar Gaddafi of Libya.
Coalition sources say Tuesday's haul will deal with North and South Korea, as
well as Guantánamo Bay, while Wednesday's tranche will include comments on
Pakistan and counter-piracy operations in Djibouti.
Thursday will see attention focus on the Canadians and their "inferiority
complex" while corruption allegations in Afghanistan will be under the spotlight
on Friday. Saturday will cover Yemen while next Sunday will see the focus shift
    to China.
P J Crowley, the US State Department spokesman, said "We are all bracing for
what may be coming and condemn Wikileaks for the release of classified material
It will place lives and interests at risk. It is irresponsible.
"When this confidence is betrayed and ends up on the front pages of newspapers
or lead stories on television or radio, it has an impact," he said.
The State Department "has known all along" that Wikileaks possesses classified
documents, but it was not possible to predict exactly what information would be
made public and what impact it would make, he said.
"We wish this would not happen, but we are obviously prepared for the
possibility that it will," he added.

The full scope of the subject matter covered by these documents remains to be seen, but it is possible that some of them may contain information that falls within the UK’s Defence Advisory Notice code. Given the large number of documents thought to be involved, it is unlikely that sensitive UK national security information within these documents would be recognised by a casual browser. However, aspects of national security might be put at risk if a major UK media news outlet brought such information into obvious public prominence through its general publication or broadcast.

Therefore, may I ask you to seek my advice before publishing or broadcasting any information drawn from these latest Wikileaks’ disclosures which might be covered by the five standing DA Notices. In particular, would you carefully consider information that might be judged to fall within the terms of DA Notice 1 (UK Military Operations, Plans and Capabilities) and DA Notice 5 (UK Intelligence Services and Special Forces). May I also ask you to bear in mind the potential consequential effects of disclosing information which would put at risk the safety and security of Britons working or living in volatile regions where such publicity might trigger violent local reactions, for example Iran, Iraq, Pakistan and Afghanistan?

As always, I am available 24/7 to offer DA Notice guidance…

    Yours Sincerely,

    Andrew Vallance

    Air Vice-Marshal
Secretary, Defence Press and Broadcasting Advisory Committee

With all this 'collateral' damage being voiced up by all the appropriate officers and gentlemen and such a media countdown, you really do have to wonder what the main attraction is going to be.

Is this a dummy run for the next time or are they going 'shock' us now with their newest super scam?

Since that Daniel Estulin interview a few days ago I've been having visions of them dropping a LEAKED new "truth" about 9/11 on us.

Default Wikileaks release set for 4:30pm ET, to be an "embarrassment" for British PM

One of the newspapers working with Wikileaks confirmed Sunday that it planned to publish details of the whistle-blower website's latest release of confidential documents in its Monday edition.

Simon Hoggart, a journalist from The Guardian told the BBC that the publication would be an "embarrassment" for the British prime minister, among other world leaders.

Hoggart was thought to be referring to the British newspaper's printed edition, although online versions of the story could appear as soon as Sunday.

A message on Der Spiegel's website suggests a simultaneous release will come at 4.30pm ET. The German weekly, which has seen the documents, advises readers that its online edition for week 48 will appear exceptionally online at 22:30 local time Sunday.
