Default An interview with the departing President of Uruguay, Jose Mujica

After reading that he is leaving office I watched this very magical interview to learn more about this very honest and humble person, I hope that it brings some happiness to whoever has the time to watch it.

    He talks about:

    What is being poor
    Waste and consumption
    The Pope and the Church
    His time in prison
    Drugs and their regulation
The importance and power of conviction

What a wonderful change from the hair sprayed, teeth whitened, suit wearing, bought out; let us say, 'poor' people that we have to endure in our own political spheres.

Whatever your own particular "shade" of politics, it's impossible not to be impressed or beguiled by Jose "Pepe" Mujica.

There are idealistic, hard-working and honest politicians the world over - although cynics might argue they're a small minority - but none of them surely comes anywhere close to the outgoing Uruguayan president when it comes to living by one's principles.

It's not just for show. Mujica's beat-up old VW Beetle is probably one of the most famous cars in the world and his decision to forego the luxury of the Presidential Palace is not unique - his successor, Tabare Vasquez, will also probably elect to live at home.

Love the image of Mujica, it is every thing we should expect in an image of a national political leader.

An overweight unkempt man, overgrown grass next to a derelict building. Compare it to the images we in the U.S.A.

Images that show leaders with beautiful healthy loving happy families.

Which of this images do you think show leaders who are making a more peaceful, just, equitable world? Which ones show leaders who are creating a more violent world, one where the world's resources and control belong to fewer and fewer individuals?

It's amazing how easily mind-controlled we are.

In today´s world not very many people would respect or believe they want a leader like Mujica. It´s all about appearances we see, we judge, very rarely do we go deeper to seek what is behind the image, we fool ourselves every time with appearances and we also try to be the image we present to others. It is a silly and foolish game, being so easy just to be who we are, but we seem to believe we are never enough, so we end up fabricating this "elaborated and beautified" facade so people can like us or even love us. The trick is we don't and we can't always be the facade . It takes a lot of effort and gets tiring to some more than others. President Mujica has said in many ocasions that he cannot be any other way. So it seems Mr. Mujica is just being truthful to himself. Love the man I gotta say. I know I´m not even touching the real differences between these persons.

He's actually the only good or at least decent politicial leader I've seen in a while... The rest of them, I don't trust em' one bit.

    Hello lucidity,

I merged your thread with this earlier, pre-existing one.

    Cheers!
