    Default RIP: Terry Pratchett

Fantasy author Terry Pratchett has died aged 66 after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease.

"The world has lost one of its brightest, sharpest minds," said Transworld Publishers' Larry Finlay.

Sir Terry, best known for the Discworld series, wrote more than 70 books over his lengthy career.

He was first diagnosed with Alzheimer's in 2007, but continued writing, completing his final book last summer.

The author died at home, surrounded by his family.

    Hi RunningDear,

If we ever meet could i give you a big cuddle ? :-)

    How very, very sad...
Do we know the circumstances of his death ?
I watched a documentary in which Terry looked very closely
at the whole issue of assisted suicide.... he seemed very much in favour it.

If genius is defined as the top 2%
... then Terry was so obviously in that club. Oh most definitely!
    The books are really fantastic.
    This man's imagination is spectacular.
Anyone that bathes their brains in this material will regain
all those IQ points lost through drinking fluoridated water,
hydrogenated vegetable oils, toxic E numbers, and undeclared
    monsanto ingredients.

Virtually all of the Disc World series are available gratis
via bittorrent... the audio books and the e-books.

    be happy

    lucidity :-)

Terry Pratchett has added immeasurably to my family's life, with all the children reading him, and me as mother being told the exciting neat bits. Thank you, Mr. Pratchett, and thank you all for posting this and letting us know.

What a sad loss to humanity, but we must be grateful that in his time here he made such a glorious and downright hilarious contribution to our collective happiness.

One of the things that struck me with his books was his innocent yet highly astute understanding of the nature of reality (REAL reality) and of human affairs.

    RIP Terry
