Default Show Me How Great You Are

    It is time.

You are far more amazing than anyone will realize or tell you.

It is time to embrace the unfathomable potential that lies within. The time where one is defined by their origins, their environment, their experiences,... this time has passed.

This thread - deliberately placed in Myth and Legend - is dedicated to the philosophy, ideology, and passion from which one can inspire their own stories, myths, and legends.

Cry 'Havoc' and let slip the dogs of war! No longer to be content with less or nil; RISE, every woman, man and child! Cast off the roles and lives which have been chosen for you and realize the experience, the existence, the absolute manifestation that can ONLY come from your unwillingness to cave, relent, or surrender.

    FA,
You might look up what the "dogs of war" were and the not use that phrase any more. They were the mercenary warriors that lived by rape, pillage, and plunder. "Havoc" was the command to let loose these gruesome beasts of men upon the cities already concurred by the army. I do not think that this phrase is an appropriate image to present in a post of "... how great you are".

Take what ever symbolism you find and take it back, and turn it back into something positive and stop living in fear of it.

One can use Havoc to disrupt certain things by challenging the so called norm, I do that every time i challenge someone to brake from the norm or mundane, try to make them think for themselves. It all depends on your point of view of what Havoc is to others.

Go into a church and challenge there teachings to something more freeing and less fearful I guarantee you they will state that you where creating havoc..

For me, success comes from a place of truth, fairness, courage, stick-to-itiveness, intuition, heart and passion. Since a young age, I stood strong for what I believe to be right, fair and often in protection for those who needed it. Later on, it also meant putting job and reputation on the line. Other times, it comes from a place of curiosity of how far I stretch in mind, body, and spirit.

True, historically the 'dogs of war' were not something to be lauded. On the other hand, the 'havoc' quote is from Julius Caesar by William Shakespeare. Despite both these divergent references, let me ask you something.

Who decides the underlying meaning of something? Is it you, or is it the world? At what point can the term 'doosh-bag' (just an example) go from being an insult to a term of endearment?

Now, I agree that one can only go so far in reinventing/repurposing a term, idea, or phrase before appearing nonsensical, but did one really think I was referring to a group of ruthless murderers, vandals, rapists, etc. from 2 millennia previous?

Spot on! Always wonderful when something doesn't need to be exhaustively spelled out! ^_~

FA, showing violence for greatness is so completely out of everything I stay for. I cannot find the words which will express enough my disgust.
And just as wnlight said if you don't know what a phrase really means, don't use it. or at least research thouse phrases before posting it.

I think you mean "stand for".

<scribbles another name to the 'missing the point' list>

    Thank you, come again!

<wonders why this thread is being misconstrued by some as a bathroom>

Before any further detraction occurs, allow me to emphasize a phrase from the song in the first video.

"Everyday people do everyday things but I can't be one of them. I know (hope) you hear me now, we are a different kind; we can do anything.

    We could be heroes.

We could be heroes, me and you. We COULD be."

If there is a further misinterpretation, I entreat one to listen to the song. Now, preemptively I will offer this in advance of any further reproach:

There’s no size to greatness. When one comes to recognize their greatness, then ordinary miracles become the foundation to support their footprints in the world. Intention, focus, follow-through create ripples of small, medium and large.

Willing to tell you...I like that part. It's not difficult, try it.

One day an old lady, about 70 maybe more, was walking by in the summer. She was dressed fully in purple, suit, skirt, complete with hat, and matching shoes.

Around here, where people like to keep the colouring modest (unlike our Dutch neighbours, ha ), that's quite a brave thing to do, especially at that age. Plus she looked amazing in it.

Yet she was too far away. Still, this was important, so I made my way all the way to her and I said: Excuse me, can I say something?

She nodded and I added: You look absolutely amazing. I love it!

<bows> I've always liked that term,... I usually get 'sonofa',....

The fact is - and yes, I assert that it is a fact even in the absence of sufficient evidence - that everyone is:

Amazing - Tends to generate amazement in an apt observer
Exemplary - Serves as a suitable example to follow
Excellent - Excels in a variety of capacities
Magnificent - Possessing an noteworthy degree of magnitude
    Extraordinary - Beyond ordinary

... not to mention skilled, talented, innovative, capable,....

As far as I can see/tell, the only thing preventing the fullest emergence of all those qualities is the individual themselves. EVERYONE is capable of great things; this is not to say that the things that are done are not great - quite the contrary! - nor that the number of great things that are done is insufficient.

Allow me to put it this way; every person is a work of art. No two pieces are exactly the same and every piece is awe inspiring. But more than that, people are not limited in the ways in which a multitude of control systems would have them believe. So, while conditioning can be observed to play a (negative) role, it is up to the person - the I - to cast off such limitations.

After that, the sky is the limit.

Surely I'm not the only one who thinks so,....
