A Flare, A CME, A Storm!

Yesterday wee saw an M6.5 flare from active region 12372 followed by a filament liftoff, which turned into a coronal mass ejection, which became a a strong geomagnetic storm. Here are the NASA iSWA Kp values for the last four to show you how the Earth responded to the CME. Kp is a measure of the magnetic storm intensity, averaged over the many stations that measure the Earth's magnetic field. The NOAA SWPC has issued a G2 alert for today, meaning moderate storm activity should continue. The Kp index is described at the Helmholtz Centre Potsdam - GFZ German Research Centre for Geosciences.
Soon after the flare, another filament rose off the surface. It will probably strike the Earth's magnetosphere tomorrow (June 24). This means the geomagnetic storm will continue for awhile. Great aurora come from these storms, but they also produce energetic particles and currents in ground-based pipelines and electrical wires.

I didn't know it could "produce energetic partices and currents in ground - based pipelines and electrical wires." There are thousands of miles of pipeline in Alberta. . . .

My husband (who is an electrician and instrument mechanic) just informed me that all pipelines that are being actively used have a current of electricity running through them already. Apparently it prevents corrosion. So I wonder how that will affect the boreal forest to have extra surges from the sun in the pipelines all over?

Completely explains the energy from three days ago. This last one I felt very clearly as the sun was doing it's thing; interestingly, I only feel them as they leave the sun, not so much when the particles arrive to earth, so the energy I feel must be the waves as opposed to the particles that hit the earth a couple days later.

Anyone else feel these events?

I think I feel them ahead of the time they arrive on earth too. . . . . But there are many earth changes going on at the same time, such as earthquakes and volcanoes. Wouldn't these be affecting us as well? This past weekend I felt more jittery than usual, kind of hyper on the inside. The sense of linear time was pretty much gone. Saturday and Sunday went even faster than usual. Physical exhaustion while feeling hyped up at the same time. Slight headaches or tension on the front of the head, that I don't usually get. Feelings of nausea that I usually only have at work after an intense session with a client. I also had this really amazing conversation with a person I had never met before and was able to go very deep into metaphysical type things and follow lines of thought almost intuitively in a psychic type of way. Maybe these CME or solar flare events also give us abilities we do not normally have???

The neat-o part is that the fabled Aurora Borealis may be visible tonight, June 23, 2015 in latitudes above N44. This includes Toronto, probably after 11:00 p.m., and cottage country, where there is less skylight pollution. Night owls might get lucky.

Yes I feel them, Aspen I have had same kind of symptoms lately. I always feel the earthquake waves before they physically occur, solar flares affect me almost instantly by giving me energy, I noticed that the solar storms and electron fluctuations affect me physically. Weather affects my mood. If there would be too much ground currents then electrical devices would start to malfunction and particles could also fry the satellites if there are enough particles in the atmosphere.

i can tell you that people are crazy here tonight.

I went driving in the middle of the city today, one woman was walking in the middle of the street, finally goes on the right side, i pull on the left to avoid her and she litterally jump in front of my car to pick up a piece of paper on the ground. Well dressed, obviously coming back from work, and looking at me when I horned as if I was to blame.

Then, a guy doubled me from the left side, clearly going into incoming trafic, and cut me right in front. A second and a third did it (no, it is not because I am a woman driving, I am a real good driver, has done more road than most people, for work).

Finally, another one was coming straight on me at a right angle.

I went back home, this is too dangerous.

Tomorrow is a Holiday here, I am staying home.

For me this last event had me feeling, hard to describe, but a general "uneasiness", which I very rarely have at all, I am a pretty easy going kind of guy. I hear you guys also on the energy increase, I occasionally will have huge unexplained energy increases, not really a physical energy but more of a mental one, that often relate directly to solar events. On this last one though, I just felt an uneasiness, like an energy shift of sorts was occurring, but I wasn't quite up to speed with it (which is very possible).

I Also noticed on Sunday morning of evidence from just reading others' posts and new threads, that others had also been affected, whether they knew it or not. We are all connected to the Life force of this planet in some way, and it is a little tricky to sometimes make sense of all that we feel. However, it is good to have that reminder once in a while ... it makes me feel at home sometimes, even though in the ;larger scheme, I feel I'm not really from around "here".

That's interesting, relatively strong earthquakes give the same feeling to me.

I read where NASA drained the Van Allen belt , it explains why on a cool day the Sun can still burn your skin if your standing still ...they have caused climate change , our shield has been tampered with , allowing harmful cosmic rays to strike Earth ... we at a solar minimum in the eleven year cycle that peaked in 2012, we shouldn't be having these big solar storms ...

Yep, this screwed up HF communications for a while, but that doesn't affect anyone these days. And the Northern Lights were seen as far south as southern England which only happens every few years. So another fairly significant solar flare comes and goes and nothing happened - again.

The way folks react to their impending impact you'd think they're some sort of new thing! They are not. They have been happening for the past few billion years and we're all still here - even after the September 1859 Carrinton Event.

So next time you read another solar porn-fear story...

And another thing; have those people who claim solar activity affects their moods ever made a log of how they feel, when they feel it? Say for a month and then tried to correlate that with actual solar activity? If it's not all 'after-the-event' imaginings, then it will make a very interesting scientific study.
