Default Coldest November night on record in parts of UK

Temperatures plummeted to the coldest on record for November in many parts of the UK overnight.

Northern Ireland reached a new low of -8.6C (17F) at Aldergrove, in Belfast, while in Sennybridge, in Powys, the record was broken with -14.3C (6F)

In Loch Glascarnoch, in the Highlands, it was -15.3C (4F), and in Shawbury, in Shropshire, the low was -12.5C (10F).

Snow is still falling in Scotland and north-east England, disrupting travel, and is set to last until Tuesday.

I can tell ya folks, it is major cold here. I am using about 15 pounds a day in gas just now.

BBC TV weather news live in Northumberland this morning reported team had just encountered thunder clap and lightning. Believe this is rare in natural snowy conditions?
Oh my ears and whiskers, how late it's getting!

I think the lack of Gulf stream may have something to do with the inclement weather.

I agree, i was reading back in the summer that the gulf stream is dieing in certain parts and temperatures of minus 20 were coming to the u.k. this winter. I told a few people about this and was laughed at...I guess no one's laughing now though.

    love,

you are right. I posted a thread on it on here and people seemed to think nothing of it. How they feel about it now? Lets hope they comment on this.

Its is certainly strangely cold here, below freezing and yet not one car was frozen in my street. Must have had a team of ice eating elves clean them all....
Love. peace and Blessings to you all.

Yes, I'm in said snowy north east England and it's still coming down and my car now looks like it won't be going anywhere for a good long while. I'm deliberately not listening to any 'normal' news at all right now and I hadn't realised it had been so cold last night. I've got at least enough food for a month here so I'm not panicking but I'll be disapointed if I have to go back on tap water for my tea.

We are well overdue for an ice age. I wonder how TPTB are going to explain this to the man made lol global warming crowd.

Yes, the Gulf stream/North Atlantic drift has not kicked in and this makes a vast difference in climate in England and N. Europe and also along the east coast of USA. This can be cyclical or also been affected by gulf oil spill - or both.

But also, as the Arctic summer temps warm (as they have by several degrees in the past few years) the mountains of ice begin to melt and these mountains of ice in the past have held the cold Arctic winter winds in the Arctic. Now that those mountains of ice have been reduced, the Winter Arctic winds can come down to us, which makes our winters colder. California has also been experiencing colder winters, however, colder in California is a far cry from what England is experiencing. I'm a native of New England, so I know what cold is. brrr - I send you all warm huggs.
Here is an article from NOAA which explains better and in more depth about relationship of cold winters in N. Hemisphere to arctic warming.

    http://content.usatoday.com/communit...tic-melting-/1

There are many things happening in the Universe presently that even NASA is having trouble explaining. Is this because we have better equipment or that things are truly changing? Perhaps both. Several articles attached. One regarding the huge bubble found (quite a lovely picture) and the other about the ribbon discovered.

    http://spacefellowship.com/news/art2...our-galaxy.htm

    lhttp://www.itwire.com/science-news/space/28579-nasa-surprised-with-strange-ribbon-circling-solar-system

I don't know if global warming is true or not and how much humans have to do with it. BUT WHAT I DO KNOW is that when the theory of global warming became publicized it made many more conscious of our connection to Mother Earth and for me then, the theory served a great purpose.

I encourage all to avoid the argument of why, but rather to observe what is happening and find understanding without becoming too attached to which why is correct.

many years ago an old hippy enthusiastically pronounced to a room full us that the the frozen ground and water outside had "really changed all the energies" and "could we FEEL it?" and continued to 'explain' that the frozen environment had created all sorts of resonances and harmonics that just simple didn't rise up the levels of perceptibility when it wasn't freezing like that.

I have to admit I thought the guy was just off his trolly at the time but I've found 'religion' myself now too, haha.

It has been very cold n Northern California recently. Unusually and very cold for an extended period of time along the coastal areas that are usually temperate zones.

well if it makes everyone feel better, San Diego was almost cold enough to snow a few nights ago...

now that we have been able to watch the sun during it's 11 year activity cycle I'm noticing heavy activity from meteors... Most breaking away from the belt of a demolished planet that once was in our solar system...

is there a chance there is a brown dwarf with an elliptical orbit of 11 years that has a magnetic field strong enough to change the path of meteors that close to earth?

What happens when that magnetic field pushes against earths?

we see the little spacecraft always launching in the same direction, does that info give us an idea of where to look for this mysterious dwarf, if that is the direction these inbound objects are coming from?

I had the opportunity to leave the UK in 2006, and I took it... citing immanent economic problems and bad weather conditions.

Same deal - most took the piss and thought I was nuts and it was better for them if I left :0

Well if Dennis Quaid can trudge halfway across the world with a dog-sled to rescue his son (in about fifteen minutes of film time), I'm sure I can put up with a few negative temps this winter :0) The ocean ain't going to freeze just yet... but I'd totally agree, we have more to fear from cold than global warming. Plants don't grow half as well... need more fuel... electricity... food... hmm.

When you look at it , though, Life's great. Isn't it ?

I mean, would you miss this? This life, this experience we're having now. For anything ?

I happily believe that all of the conspiracies can't be true. Which means that at any one time, the current one I'm reading might be total b****x . I find this equips me with a beautiful shot of healthy cynicism. Which then allows me to be totally fluffy about other stuff
