Default Obama Sends Destroyer to Chinese Islands, China Vows Military Response

Update: According to reports in on Monday evening, the USS Lassen has indeed sailed within 12 nautical miles of China's islands in the Spratlys.

Quote As WSJ notes, "an American defense official confirmed Monday that the U.S. Navy ship navigated through the waters around at least one of the land masses to which China lays claim within the Spratly chain of islands in the South China Sea, crossing an area that China maintains is part of its sovereign territory."

WSJ also reiterates that this isn't likely to be a one-off event. As noted below, most "experts" believe that in order for this to be effective from a deterrence standpoint, the US will need to step up the patrols, presumably in an effort to prove to Beijing that the Pentagon is "serious", whatever that means in this context.

The ball is now squarely in China's court. The PLA has already promised to "stand up and use force" in the event its territorial sovereignty is violated. The question now is whether Beijing will back down and concede that "sovereignty" somehow means something different with regard to the islands than it does with respect to the mainland or whether Xi will stick to his guns (no pun intended) and take a pot shot at a US destroyer.
Quote For weeks, the US was rumored to have been planning a freedom of navigation exercise in the Spratlys which, as we’ve pointed out several times this month, amounts to sailing by the islands just to see if China will shoot.

Now, according to CNN, Obama has given the green light and the ships may sail within 24 hours:
    http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2015-1...itary-response

Russia reportedly has already demonstrated technology that can render usa military electronics inoperable leaving our navy ships completely vulnerable and defenseless. china and Russia have teamed up against isis in the middle east and are working together in spearheading an alternative to the counterfeit money frn$ presently used as global reserve currency as well as establighing a trade based alliance ( silk road) to replace usa hegemony.

Quote What frightened the USS Donald Cook so much in the Black Sea?
    http://www.voltairenet.org/article185860.html

does anybody even know how many wars the USA is presently engaged in, how many off shore military bases? how many assassinations of foreign leaders of sovereign nations, how many coups of foreign sovereign governments?

we look to be provoking China and Russia at the same time.

nato is already provoking Russia with military drills on Russian borders and don't forget that the USA( Victoria Nuland admission) spent $5 billion to destabilize Ukraine.

China had 3 ships pull into an American naval base in Florida this week to restock to continue their search for the missing North Korean Subs...

I think US is searching for a reason for North Korea to launch at them, fishing for a false flag attack for a reason for war, but not with China.

North Korea is the last holdout for a world government...

The US is making WW3, so intensely as if fearful it will not happen. Will its people allow it, or do something to stop this nonsense?

Quote U.S. Intelligence Director warns of Chinese attack on power grid causing Armageddon; have you prepared your family for the collapse?
    Tuesday, October 27, 2015
Quote (NaturalNews) A special unit of the Chinese People's Liberation Army is dedicated to waging cyber warfare against the United States should the two nations become embroiled in a conventional conflict, with the goal of knocking out American infrastructure that is vital to the nation's survival.

Director of National Intelligence James Clapper recently told Congress that China's and other countries' cyber capabilities are so sophisticated that they are believed to even be capable of disrupting the entire U.S. power grid. If the outages are prolonged, it is believed that it could kill up to 90 percent of Americans, experts told a congressional panel in 2014.

In testimony before the Senate Armed Services Committee in September, Clapper said that the Chinese in particular have the capability to launch "a massive Armageddon-like attack against our infrastructure." He did not say whether the U.S. possessed similar cyber capabilities, but it's believed that the Pentagon's cyber war capabilities are second-to-none.

The Chinese unit is known in military and intelligence circles as "Unit 61398."

    China "building cyber war capability"

In November 2014, Navy Adm. Michael Rogers, director of the National Security Agency and commander of U.S. Cyber Command, told the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence that once a hacker gained access to the power grid, there are any number of things that could be done to disrupt or even destroy wide swaths of the U.S. power grid.

"Once you're into the system...it enables you to do things like, if I want to tell power turbines to go offline and stop generating power, you can do that. It enables you to shut down very segmented, very tailored parts of our infrastructure that forestall the ability to provide those services to our citizens."

CyberWar.news reports that a significant and growing portion of China's expanding military budget is devoted to improving the nation's cyber warfare capabilities.

In early 2014 after Chinese President Xi Jinping took control of the Central Internet Security and Informatization Leading Group, the state-run news agency, Xinhua, said he viewed internet security as "a major strategic issue concerning a country's security and development as well as people's life and work," according to a Sept. 1 report by the Washington, D.C.-based Center for Strategic and International Studies.

The news agency said the president also added that "efforts should be made to build our country into a cyber power," according to the CSIS report, as quoted by CyberWar.news.

"It strikes at my very core"

The results of such a widespread attack on the national power grid would be catastrophic.

In testimony before a hearing of the House Homeland Security Committee's Subcommittee on Cybersecurity, Infrastructure Protection, and Security Technologies in November 2014, a host of experts warned that loss of power from an electromagnetic pulse event due to a nuclear explosion or a massive solar flare or other cause would essentially be a game-changer, one that panel members took note of.

"Some would say it's low probability, but the damage that could be caused in the event of an EMP attack, both by the sun, a solar event, or a man-made attack, would be catastrophic," said Rep. Michael McCaul, R-Texas. "We talk a lot about a nuclear bomb in Manhattan, and cybersecurity threat to the power grid in the Northeast, and all of these things would actually probably pale in comparison to the devastation that an EMP attack could perpetrate on Americans."

"It strikes at my very core when I think of the men, women, and children in cities and rural towns across America with a possibility of no access to food, water, or transportation," added Rep. Trent Franks, R-Ariz. "In a matter of weeks or months at most, a worst-case scenario could bring devastation beyond imagination."

"The civilian grid, in my judgment, is very vulnerable," he said. "Some of the largest transformers, the very largest ones, have an inherent resistance to all but the more intense electromagnetic pulses. But the fact is, we have enough of those mid-range transformers where a major event would be catastrophic."

In the event of of such a widespread collapse, it's easy to believe that most Americans wouldn't be prepared for it

    PROBLEM, REACTION, SOLUTION.

the cabal is using same tricks over and over.

it won't work. china and Russia are hip to the Zionist agenda. this game has been going on for a loooooooooong time:

Quote The real reason behind ISIS and their war against Assad and Syria is a secret 995 year old Blood Feud of the Khazarian Mafia against the Persians and the Russians.
By Preston James, Ph.D on October 26, 2015

Quote The Khazarian Mafia asset stripped mother Russia of billions in Gold, Silver, jewels and artwork, while beginning a bloodbath of rape, torture and mass murder of about 100 million non-Khazarian Russians.

This Blood Feud against Russia was based on Russia helping the Persians (now Iran) destroy Khazaria in about 1020 AD because it had become a criminal nation of robbers, murderers and identity impersonators and had not heeded its warnings to clean house from top to bottom.

This Khazarian Mafia Blood Feud against Russia was also accompanied by a blood feud against Persia for helping Russia destroy Khazaria in about 1020 AD.

This plan involves destroying Syria and then using it as a staging area for the destruction of Iran which is a essential step in the construction of Greater Israel which will engulf the whole Mideast for the Khazarian Mafia and Israel, it main action-agent.

This plan also involves using NATO and the US Military to surround the Russian Federation with offensive missiles and missile defenses while making international manipulations to destroy Russia economically.

food shortages are, the average American has something like 1 week or less worth of food in their house, if you count non-refrigerated food this number drops even more, now I think killing 90% is a ridiculous number, but certainly some deaths will follow prolonged power outages.

Has anyone ever watched the hit tv series, "Revolution"? An electromagnetic pulse shut the whole planet down. It had been like 15 years later and nothing still worked because the technology that shut everything down couldn't be shut down. You might want to watch all the seasons. There's a lot of pertinent truth in each episode.... So, if Russia has that technology, then we're in serious trouble. That idiot in the White House needs to resign already because he's no good for the planet....

I don't think China will dare to respond aggresively, however, if Russia has technology to jamm the electric systems of a military destroyer, Will they share that technology with China? or China has it already? We'll see what happens! It'll be jaw breaking if China does the same thing as Russia with the USS Donald Cook

Default Re: Obama Sends Destroyer to Chinese Islands, China Vows Military Response

    This from Jim Stone:

EMP will not do anything of significance to modern electronics. I have been over this many times before. The only thing EMP might do to America is trip the power grid out, with a few repairs needed in a few areas, and a long re-start time. Computer networks that use long runs of copper wire (not fiber optic, which is the norm now) I mean old systems that still use cat 5, phone systems that still use copper wire, will likely see damage and go down if the attack is strong enough.

a broad region EMP can't fry a laptop or any other small electronic device, let alone the circuits in a car for several very good reasons. In order:

    1. The cross section is too small for any long range EMP to interact with. If an EMP is going to travel for long distances, it has to be a low frequency. And low frequencies do not like to couple with small objects. High frequency EMP bursts cannot travel through the air very far, because air has water vapor which soaks up high frequencies. The maximum damaging range ever achieved with a high frequency EMP is a radius of 2 miles in perfectly clear dry weather. This is with a top of the line coil type EMP weapon with explosive detonator. In some instances, even this top of the line type of EMP weapon has a range limited to a few hundred yards, (when it is raining) because water affects them so much.

If you ever wondered why high frequency "ray" type weapons have such a limited range, never working in a way that will destroy anything at distances over a mile, water vapor in the air is the biggest reason why. Since it takes a high frequency to drive energy into the circuits of a cell phone, Ipad, or even a car because all the wires are short in length, there will be no legitimate EMP type destruction of these types of items over broad regions simply because it is not technically possible to accomplish.

Low frequency EMP of the type that can toast the power grid is technically possible to accomplish but very unlikely to ever be successful because the system is too well protected by circuit breakers, and if anything does blow it will most likely be easily replaced transformers. The spare transformers that are sitting around most electrical yards won't get blown by any low frequency EMP because their coils sit inside steel cabinets, which are perfect faraday cages. The only way a surge of power can hit a transformer from an EMP is if the surge gets induced into the electrical lines feeding into and from the transformer. And even at that, the weakest transformer will blow first, and once it provides a path to ground none of the other transformers on the line are likely to blow. So the way I see a well implemented EMP attack on America playing out will be this:

Power goes out everywhere, because circuit breakers trip. Several large generators explode at power stations, but it is only a percentage, (less than 10 percent, probably more like 2 or 3 percent. Practically everyone in the country will see the sky light up from an exploding transformer somewhere, but it will only be one of hundreds in the area. Lights will be out for quite a while, but after a few days they will be mostly back on.

But there is a real EMP "threat" for all cars, Iphones, tablets, computers, etc and this "threat" will be the cell phone system, which can fake an EMP blackout of everything by commanding suicide circuits in many devices to activate and destroy the device, and by telling the ECU's in the cars to fake the car being dead. There will be no legitimate EMP destruction of these devices, but with all the hoaxing and technical illiteracy going on with the EMP scare crowd, everyone will believe EMP wiped the country out because the primary reason will be ignored - remote deactivation and destruction of electronics via command, issued by the cell phone system.

    Regards.

I've been a part of a community (OPENECU.org) for years, we break into and dismantle the "lock outs" from ECU's on vehicles.. I know every single area of several ECU's (mostly mitsubishi since that's what I drove at the time) I worked on 1993, 1999, 2003 and 2009 ECU's (then I grew up and quit being a street racer... haha)

There are no "suicide" circuits in any of those years of vehicles, there is no way to wirelessly connect to any of those vehicles. The above from Jim Stone sounds like he let his imagination of what "could be" get away from him, as I often see from these "alt media" personalities.

    Thanks for that Target,

always good to have the opinion of someone with 'real world' experience.

Have you had any experience with BMW ecu's?

    Regards.

To add: I see a lot of car commercials now with this tech that will auto brake, auto park, etc, etc...... and with built-in sat-nav now becoming a standard fitting, might this make the 'kill switch' more of a possibility?

In relation to this post mention of EMP attacks:

    14:55 to 16:19 EMP screw-up

There is a much deeper talk by Mr Dollard where he directly states his fears for simple EMP attack of the power grid in America, the attack would not need to be big or complex. The American grid has been designed to propagate EMP not block it!

So just who might be the hand behind such an attack on America?

Have you had any experience with BMW ecu's?

    Regards.

To add: I see a lot of car commercials now with this tech that will auto brake, auto park, etc, etc...... and with built-in sat-nav now becoming a standard fitting, might this make the 'kill switch' more of a possibility?
What year? we did some work on early 2000's M3 and a lot of 335i's (again, same stuff as above)

Any car with "navstar" or the like is susceptible, but until recently (and even now) it's really more rare than common and EASILY disabled.

There has been a lot of these incidents in the China sea over the last few years and
is one of the reasons the US backed Japan into changing its law to be able
to send military personel abroad for the first time since WW11. There has been on
going tension between China and Japan for years and Taiwan has been a festering
sore between US and China since the late 1940's.

Yet trade and diplomacy continues and the Chinese Premier was only in the US a
little while ago. Will anything come of this continuing 'sabre rattling' ? I don't know ?
Unless TPTB are guiding something behind the scenes ?

There always seems to be more questions than answers in the political world of of
the 'global theatre' . As there always has been.

China seeks to redress what it sees as violations of its sovereignty, Washington
does have policy options, but are any of them effective?

‘Japan’s Defense Ministry says it will restart work on a land reclamation project,
which is vital for a proposed US military base on the site. This is likely to infuriate
the local Okinawa prefectural government, who are deeply against the move.

Work is planned to start on Thursday and will create storage space needed to start
the landfill work. The Okinawa Defense Bureau will also continue a seabed drilling
survey off the coast of Henoko, where an alternative US base could be built.

“An administrative decision to start the landfill work has already been made,”
said Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshihide Suga on Wednesday, as cited by the Japan Times.’

US Provocation in Chinese Waters. The Militarization of the South China Sea

By David Icke on 29th October 2015

US Provocation in Chinese Waters. The Militarization of the South China Sea
    By Stephen Lendman

    Global Research, October 28, 2015

‘Imagine the following scenario. One or more Chinese warships sail provocatively
into US Gulf of Mexico waters, or perhaps off its West Coast – after being warned
by Pentagon and administration officials not to.

Washington would interdict the vessel, perhaps consider its intrusion a casus belli
    – with full US media support.

Here’s today’s reality. In mid-October, US Defense Secretary Ashton Carter said:
“Make no mistake, the United States will fly, sail and operate wherever international
law allows, as we do around the world, and the South China Sea is not and will not
be an exception,” code language for laws are what Washington says they are,
    regardless of their precise meaning.’

America considers all global waters its own, intending to sail provocatively through
them whenever it wishes, even at the expense of world peace and stability.
Hegemons operate this way, by its own rules alone.

China justifiably considers the Nansha (Spratly) Islands and waters surrounding
them its sovereign territory. America respects only its own sovereignty, no one else’s.

Last May, China’s Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Hua Chunying said America should
avoid “risky and provocative approaches to maintain regional peace and stability.”
She stressed China will defend its territorial sovereignty. Unauthorized intrusions
will be challenged. At the time, a state-run Global Times editorial bluntly warned:
If the United States’ bottom line is that China has to halt its activities, then a
US-China war is inevitable in the South China Sea.

“China will have no choice but to” respond to US provocations. Its message says
it won’t tolerate US intervention where it doesn’t belong.China is concerned about
America’s increasing Asia/Pacific presence, provocatively challenging its sovereignty
and security. On October 27, state-run Xinhua news said “(a) US warship sailed
within 12 nautical miles of Chinese islands in South China Sea on Tuesday in a flagrant
    – and baseless – provocation against China’s legitimate rights in the body of water.”

The USS Lassen’s operation, carried out in the name of freedom of navigation, was
nothing but a willful and harmful game of brinkmanship mounted to flex US muscles
at China’s doormat and reassert Washington’s dominant presence in the region – at
the cost of injecting more uncertainty into regional stability.

Xinhua blasted Washington’s deliberate provocation, calling it “the troublemaker of
the West Pacific,” accusing it of “making trouble out of nothing.” Beijing authorities
warned the US vessel after entering Chinese waters, saying it acted “illegally.”
A Foreign Ministry statement said: “China strongly urges the US side to conscientiously
handle China’s serious representations, immediately correct its mistake and not take
any dangerous or provocative acts that threaten China’s sovereignty and security interests.”

Foreign Minister Wang Yi added separately: “We advise the US to think again…before
acting” provocatively. The incident was White House authorized – “despite repeated
(Beijing) warnings” against violating its sovereign territory.

An unnamed Pentagon official said more US patrols in Chinese waters will follow. “This
is something that will be a regular occurrence, not a one-off event.”

Reckless US policy risks direct confrontation with Russia over Ukraine and Syria, as
well as China for numerous provocations, entering its South China Sea waters illegally,
the latest incident, more promised by its own admission.

Washington’s so-called “freedom of navigation” right is cover for willfully acting
belligerently, confronting an Asian superpower recklessly in its own territory, a new
millennium version of gunboat diplomacy, this one with weapons able to destroy
    life on earth.

China and Russia won’t let America run roughshod over their interests. United they’re
a formidable anti-imperial force, one US policymakers should think twice about confronting.
