Default Why do so many people still fall for the "whistleblower/insider" hustle?

Real talk. After the shane fiasco, after so many others who just made stuff up..why are people still so gullible?

I'm not denying the subject matter. I have no problem believing in Illuminati. and my own direct experiences validate that we are being visited by offworlders, etc..but WHY,are people so willing to believe in every person who swears on a stack of bibles that they have the inside scoop, then proceed to regurgitate info that's been in the public domain for decades, in some cases? Why does Corey Goode have a following? Or Wilcock? or any of the other hucksters?

I don't get it. there are people here who are psychic, shamans, remote viewers, lightworkers, etc etc etc. People on this forum should be the HARDEST critics, the toughest to fool..yet,again and again some keep falling for the same old tricks.

Someone, please, explain to me why, because, with all due respect, I don't get it.

I've been on Avalon since the start (PA1) and we've seen a few of these charlatans come and go. Some of the most outlandish stuff, I tell you. Cyborgs fueled by flax oil (I kid you not). The usual suspects are always thrown in as well from reptoids to Nordics. They seem to be everywhere and always play a role in everyone's tales.

Why are people falling for it? It's almost become akin to an alternative Hollywood, replete with various personalities. I suppose people want to be the first in the know, they are starving for information and want to know the truth about everything from how the planet is run to hidden history, programs and so on.

If someone new comes to the forefront, I like to give people the benefit of the doubt until I find what is all too often the obvious (hoax). There are genuine whistleblowers of course, it's just they are few and far between. I do believe people should sharpen discernment skill. For me meditation is one such tool and I often go with my gut feeling.

    .
I have a simple proposed answer:

Many people have unanswered questions, sometimes ones that occupy them to quite some extent, or which they have maybe wrestled with for years.

Someone comes along and says, "I've got answers". That then gets people's attention.

The problem lies not in the attention-getting... but in the evaluation of the answers.

One has to cross-check them with other answers, look for logical inconsistencies or anomalies (or, sometimes, impossibilities!), look to see what personality they appear to have and what their motives might be, if they have any credentials to support them being an authority, or someone who has experienced what they say they have... and so on.

Often, claims or assertions just can't be proved. Some whistleblowers have little or no documentation to prove a thing. (See the famous Bob Lazar case, for instance — though proof has recently emerged of some of his claims, 25 years later. That's a long time to wait!)

But 'proof' isn't everything. Consistencies, correlations, evidence of good character, no evident ulterior motives (profit, narcissism, self-aggrandizement, pranks), not changing one's claims or one's story, no evidence of plagiarism (copying previous stories), being willing to answer questions in detail, willing NOT to know certain things (strict compartmentalization in black projects leaves people in 'silos', where few people know much more than their own specialty) ... these all count for a very great deal, especially when taken in combination.

But many people in the alternative community don't know HOW to do these reality checks. This is a big problem. They take things at face value way too often.

People talk about 'discernment'... but how does one discern? There's no manual to refer to. 'Scientific' thinking usually helps, and 'magical' thinking often doesn't. But one also has to be open to the possible reality of apparently very wild claims.

Listen to the measured data-gathering, cautious open mind, and meticulous analytical process of alternative researchers like Linda Howe, Joseph Farrell, Richard Dolan, David Jacobs, Graham Hancock, Mark McCandlish, and Eve Lorgen. (Not an exhaustive list by any means, but then again the list is not all that long.) Those are all excellent role models for useful ways of thinking and approaches to solving these very complex problems.

People will often believe in things without discernment if it resonates with their personal values and beliefs.
Additionally, the one-sentence-persuation also applies to "believing":

"People will do anything for those who encourage their dreams, justify their failures, allay their fears, confirm their suspicions and help them throw rocks at their enemies."
"The greatest good you can do for another is not just share your riches, but to reveal to him his own."
    -- Benjamin Disraeli

    Trust.

When someone is weak on discernment and the only "inner voice" merely suggests when it time to head for the refrigerator ... one has little else to rely on with reference to bottom level rabbit hole material than trust in others which has been built up over time.

If a number of people you have grown to trust seem to back up a "remarkable claim" then it gets your attention.

No excuse for not being able to develop your own discernment skills ... but there it is ... bearing in mind that great forces are being brought to bear to make that more difficult.

So what is to be done with those who lack these skills???

Laugh at them and criticize them ... or offer a hand to help them learn???

Because we are mostly human.. Forgive us... I do hope we don't get to a point where we don't beleave in anything, at all, although I do think we are pretty close. The next one out of the wistleblowing gate had better have their sh&t packed and all their ducks in a row if they hope to last as long as some.. The last one fell in about a month of close scrutiny, we are getting much faster is my view, so don't fear, we are all evolving at our own growing pace...x... N

I have one discernment test, on a need to know basis.
Does this information benefit me, is it of any practical use here and now?

Things people, stories may be of passing interest though.

As to why we are attracted to the "hustle"

    My thought is.
We are naturally curious and we want "to find out"
There would seem to be a specialness, an eliteness being part of a group of those in the know.

The more extraordinary, bizarre (to me) the better.
This is part of what we are fed by well meaning parents.
All the nursery rhymes--I found quite violent and scary.

A bogie man out to get you.--The wolf--the giant--the fall down the hill.

We can grow up looking over our shoulder for something nameless out to get us.
    Fear ridden.

TPTB have an interest in keeping us scared, easier to control.
They like to give the impression that they are all powerful --that they know stuff we don't.
Hence part of the desire to find out.

You have to look at what they fear.
The only secret they fear us finding out is the spiritual truth.
A good start is the thought, I am not the body then what am I?
Did I exist before this life time?

    David Icke is quite clear.
Only unconditional love is real, the rest is an illusion.

Thats what TPTB are scared we find out.
Hence the perpetration of the mind catching stories.

The most important fact, to my mind, is that all this is a distraction, diverting people away from finding out the truth, that they are all powerful spirit, having a human experience and thus there is nothing to fear.

Thanks for the thread working actor, which actually raises some of the most important questions ever posted on Avalon.

Default Re: Why do so many people still fall for the "whistleblower/insider" hustle?

It's a good question workingactor and reading through the responses I thought Bill summed it up best with..

Quote Many people have unanswered questions, sometimes ones that occupy them to quite some extent, or which they have maybe wrestled with for years.

Someone comes along and says, "I've got answers". That then gets people's attention.
On the subject of discernment, I find it difficult sometimes when dealing with just text and am learning to be more cautious of immediate agreement/acceptance. When I was a young man it is fair to say I was naive, even gullible, but a lifetime of negative experiences had begun to develop a kind of radar for bull****. When I began to 'wake-up' this took on a whole new level that I think words will fail to describe. When something is 'wrong' I feel it, literally. Like a little alarm going off with some impulse or signal.
However I am now talking of physical meetings, text can still presents problems.

Take Simon Parkes for instance. I discovered him at the begining of this year and was avidly watching all the videos I could find. (It was through these searches that I ended up here on PA, so that's a good thing ). Then I found he would be giving a talk quite locally and I immediately got a ticket. Early impressions were fine, but as the event proceeded I felt a discordant note and it made me lose focus on what he was saying. My eyes drifted up to the corner of the room, still listening but no longer concentrating, when I had a visual anamoly. There was a flicker, I really don't know how else to describe it. Simon flickered. Very brief, a fraction of a second and the best I can come up with is the flash from a moniter screen when it refreshes slightly out of synch. Oddly enough he had just been talking about the technical advancement of holographic projection and how real it looked. It certainly wasn't the kind of light I would expect to see in auric terms.

I was studying him closely after that but I never saw anything else light related. I also shook his hand at the end of the meeting and that felt as real as would be expected so I'm not suggesting he was a hologram, only that I saw something I cannot explain. I actually left the meeting with the impression that he was actually a little bit 'shifty', if that means anything to you.

He tells a story about being lampooned in the press for coming forward, and then mentions he is protected and that is why the stories dried up in the media. I don't doubt the stories dried up because they were told to lay off, but as to why I would say needs more consideration. Those that talk don't know and those that know don't talk, or something like that.

Generally speaking, Humans have a great tendency to flip-flop from one extreme to the other, so yes, I do believe that is what has occurred here.

I tried to warn everyone to be cautious of this when I wrote a post in the Ruiner's thread back on 12 OCT.

You may want to go read it again.

Here are a couple of Bottom-Line excerpts from MY point of view:

Quote With the ever-increasing number of these bogus stories and whistleblowers, people are becoming more and more suspicious (as they should be). But because so many are beginning to get so accustomed to these instances of bogus stories and whistleblowers, they have now began to immediately attack the whistleblower practically as soon as their story/info has been released.
Quote Whenever a true, honest, genuine, and helpful insider/whistleblower comes forward, it will never be for fame and fortune (service to self) but it will be to inform and help (service to others). And as a matter of fact most true whistleblowers would prefer to keep a low profile and even to remain anonymous (but not always).
Quote With everyone being so conditioned to immediately focus on and attack the messenger, what true whistleblower will ever want to come forward? I mean who in their right mind would want to put up with that kind of treatment (and exposure)? I know that I wouldn't. And I won't.
And I'll leave it at that.

On the matter of Whistle-blowers and new info I think many of us "take the bait" to varying degrees..
There is nothing wrong with that, call it curiosity, it just seems that some people place all their eggs in the one basket

I would say cautious optimism and a healthy degree of skeptimism... go ahead dip your toes in, go waist deep.. but I wouldn't go swimming.
As Avalon evolves as a 'family' or a 'unit' this is probably a very important part of that process?

I guess the answer is 'Time'. For how much time are you on this road? A couple of months? 1 or 2 years? Couple of years?

If you're somewhat "experienced" seeker, you'll understand bulls**t from a mile away, you'll know how it will progress, how it will come to "buy this, buy that, denote this, etc." So you don't jump to the bandwagon.

But there are always new comers. There are always people who begin to ask these questions for the first time.

And there are always "insiders/whistleblowers" to follow. Probably will be more in the future.

I think some people are susceptible because they believe there's got to be something greater than themselves out there. This believe may have come from their religion prior, but now they are looking for it here.

What I find "annoying" (for lack of a better word) is the time suck it takes on the forum. Generally speaking it has a three-week arc with 150-200 posts –– sometimes more –– that may take away from other pressing issues.

Like Elaine I have been here awhile and have seen this play out numerous times and have even placed a cautionary post sometimes on the different threads, but we all have to develop that scar tissue of discernment on our own.

    Thanks for the thread Workingactor.

Fight or flight as the first line of defense, the first unrealized filter, the first command of analysis of all.... in the expression of an intellect... through a meat vehicle such as a human body.

At the simplest terms, that is the system of incarnation as a window... so to realize such is at the base of all analysis or input/output of the given being, this is critical.

It's part of the unrealized 'instinctual' aspects of having a body.

To get past it, is to know, live, breath and analyze it in every breath, until living in such knowing and being becomes that of second nature. If one wants to get past these issues and also rise in self, rise in intellect, rise in scope of being and reach of being/intellect....this is a fundamental. It is necessary.

And the world forces you to adapt to and through the Buddhist/spiritualist/existentialist gauntlet, ---if you are to survive as an individual in this rising of humanity.

Lessen the influence of unconscious thought (instincts, as we are wont to call them) on the expression of self by living consciously within it, or die on the vine -- remaining as a cow behind a barely seen electric fence.

liars are good innovators too you have to be ahead of the pack to be able to discern with very good percentage. Many people fall because the pack consist of the majority and lies are directed to catch that majority.

I'd like to think that many of the people here invest their time and energy on these materials as they come out because they are on a road of discovery rather than they actually believe that this person, whom ever they are, is coming out with the truth.

I no longer have the time, and frankly, the interest, in these personal stories that are peppered with half truths and fiction, but there was a time that I devoted serious attention to listening and reading everything that was new, and I see nothing wrong with it. The problem is those folks who are still searching for an identity, who don't really know where they stand, and who's personality desires somewhere to fit in. Those people will latch onto everything that is relatable and attach a belief to it.

If we think of all information we acquire as neutral, no info is ever a waste of time. I have learned valuable concepts from both truth and lies. It all adds up to knowledge if you know what you're looking for.

Quote Posted by Bill Ryan (here)

This list of respected researchers is hard to quibble with -- but as you have pointed out before, most of these people are "researchers" and not whistleblowers or insiders. For me, it is hard to understand the process by which you decide that someone like Bill Deagle, who sounds to me like he's off his psychotropic medications (talk about self-aggrandizement: I have heard Deagle claim that he was offered (but apparently declined) the "chief Pindar" position in the top coven, that he speaks to the angel Gabriel on a daily basis, and that he was, if I recall correctly, a personal friend of Jesus' -- literally, not figuratively) is worthy of taking seriously, while someone like Shane/Ruiner, whose claims are similarly outlandish and impossible to prove, is not. I'd like to understand that process. What inside info is given that makes one person's crazy sounding claims plausible and another's claims not?

I also think Calz makes a good point that many of us tend to rely on those who might have built up some trust with us (based on our assuming that those persons have had more experience with the seemingly implausible or more back-channel info to vet him/her/it etc.). So that if someone like you, BR, (or even one of your mods) is endorsing or "vouching" for someone whose claims are hard (if not impossible) to verify, even responding confidently to those who dare to question those vouched-for insiders/whistle-blowers, then we might have a more open mind towards the alleged "insider," despite our initial doubts or skepticism.

Of course, it's a hard lesson when that once-vouched for whistleblower is taken off the vouched-for pedestal. Then, some of us may be not only angry at ourselves for ever relying on someone else's opinion, but we may look at the former vouchers in a less idealized or trusting light too. Maybe we are ALL just grasping in the dark here. Or maybe all of this is just one big DISTRACTION.

Personally, though I have no doubt that there is a group of power-crazy HUMANS controlling this world who engage in all sorts of nefarious activities to continue to be able to do so, I am starting to tune out anything suggesting Reptilian overlords, Archons, Annunaki, benevolent or malevolent ET's of any sort -- or anything else I haven't seen with my own eyes.

Gonna go make some coffee now and begin my day in my observable reality. PA is a great place to come for conversations/sharing of ideas on alternative healing, OBE's, spiritual/philosophical ruminations, and 3D false flag events, but I think I will probably skip the next touted person who claims he is seeing blue feathered humanoids and Neptune sized spheres in our atmosphere or who was raised by his Mantid mommy/daddy King of the World but now lives with his cats in a little flat in the UK.

I see what your saying awakeningmom, but it's not fair to blame Paul or any other mod, or indeed Bill, for leading us up the garden path, we are all just human and are in our own narrow rocky paths of understanding. I think it was brave of Paul to stand up for Shane at first, he beleaved in him. I think it took just as much braves to admit a month later that he was wrong, it takes a big man to do so, IMHO..

Seeing old hands like Paul and Bill get fooled, even for a heartbeat, reminds us all that there is no truth other than what we see, everything is subjective and filtered through the minds and hearts of those through who it has passed. That's a good thing, IMHO, clearly no super smart clones here, just old fashioned fallible humans searching for truth, so called... N

Default Re: Why do so many people still fall for the "whistleblower/insider" hustle?

Whatever the reason people are fascinated with science fiction, it's probably the same reason they're fascinated with whistleblowers. It becomes a diversion from the everyday and since most of us will never meet the whistleblower, there is nothing more to invest but our time and attention.

None of these would-be messiahs will ever become powerful on an widespread international level. They aren't making tons of money with their claims. And, if it weren't for the internet they would have no platform or audience at all.

Some of these whistleblower types can become cult leaders and in that sense are dangerous. For the most part they are just a diversion for the mind, just like a good book. They have their fun and we have ours at their expense.
