Quote The team would not reveal the location of this incredible finding only saying that it is part of the Tayos Cave system. The explorers claim that they have concealed the location once again to make sure no one else locates the treasure until they get their samples tested. Once testing is complete, they agreed on the radio program to bring in a large professional team to fully excavate the site as long as they were part of it and were not robbed of their findings.
That image is not from the find, this whole thing is a bit fishy really.... time shall tell i supose... these caves have been explored for a long time, its strange that this find came from there.

Thought so, I was just teasing, the top ones got an Egyptian type pyramid with writing at the base, neither of which can be found in ancient S. American artifacts.

The picture looks like an old etching plate. The writing at the bottom appears to be Greek backwards-like a printing plate.

    Hi, All:

I've been following the metal library story for many years. It's way more than fascinating.

The best, most well-written and most detailed internet summary of the story of the metal library was written by Philip Coppens, here:

    http://philipcoppens.com/metal_libr.html

I'm convinced that it exists. Klaus Dona, who Kerry and I interviewed in 2009, talked about it with me. In his interview, he showed us some intriguing metal plates that may well have originated from there.

That particular section starts at 52:27. Here's a screenshot of two of the metal plates that Klaus showed us -- from Father Crespi's collection. It's taken form the video, is rotated 90 degrees, and is also taken at an oblique angle. The video shows quite some detail.

Here also is a photo of the bend of the River Pastaza from where it's claimed the library can be reached -- via an underwater entrance to the cave system.

    ***

This latest report I believe is a hoax. The blogger is one mitchey179, whose posting history is here:

    http://triond.com/users/mitchey179

That gives some indication of mitchey179's personality, interest, and style. In this, his most recent report, note that there are no details, no link to the "radio show", and the two images -- as TargeT pointed out -- are not connected with this story, and have been posted elsewhere on the internet many times.

Of interest to those following or researching the ongoing (and quite fascinating) metal library story:

I've just been sent these images of a small, very unusual metal figurine. It's claimed they were found in the Tayos Cave, and I was also sent an analysis by the University of Ecuador which (essentially) stated that they were made from an unknown alloy.

Has anyone seen reports or photos of this object before?

The statue doesn't resemble a human being, the ears are too big. But it does resemble a humanoid being, it actually reminds me of a Ferengi or Piccolo on Dragonball.

I like the fact that it doesn't appear to be an aggressive posture even though it looks to be Vulcan in origin.

Looks as though it's been subject to some heat, - maybe it's been retrieved from a crash site ?

I am not sure what anyone thinks about this, however the "Tayos" means "Oilbird"
    known as the Steatornis caripensis

    Very strange birds at that,
"They are nocturnal feeders on the fruits of the Oil Palm and tropical laurels, and are the only nocturnal flying fruit eating birds in the world (the Kakapo is flightless). They forage at night, navigating by echolocation in the same way as bats, but with a high-pitched clicking sound of around 2 kHz that is audible to humans"

    and
    "Behaviour

Oilbirds are nocturnal; during the day the birds rest on cave ledges and leave to find their food at night. Although it forages by sight, the Oilbird is one of only a few birds, and the only nocturnal one, known to navigate by echolocation in sufficiently poor light conditions, using a series of sharp audible clicks for this purpose. It also produces a variety of harsh screams while in its caves. Entering a cave with a light especially provokes these raucous calls; they also may be heard as the birds prepare to emerge from a cave at dusk."
"Oilbirds have been reported in various other places along the Andean mountain chain, including near Ecuador's Cueva de los Tayos"
    Wiki

So if you happen to looking for this cave, watch for the right type of birds nearby that river bend.
That is a strange figurine, gives me the feel of a troll. Bumpy skin with strangely large ears.
Those round parts on it remind me of welding globules.
    Carry on ~

portable XRF can be bought used, for about $15kUs these days. This gives element analysis and levels -in seconds, on and in location.
