Default Hemp - a plant with many glorious offerings

    Hello fellow Avalonians and guests

Here is something I found astonishing.

    http://www.hightimes.com/read/hemp-repairs-damaged-dna

    Quote Hemp Repairs Damaged DNA
    THU AUG 28, 2014

Scientists have discovered astounding new evidence that suggests hemp proteins have the capacity to repair damaged DNA -- a phenomenon that occurs in all humans as the result of aging.

While the majority of people are aware that DNA, or deoxyribonucleic acid, is present within most living organisms, there is perhaps a larger percentage who are completely oblivious to the fact that this hereditary material accumulates damage in a manner similar to wear and tear on an automobile.

Fortunately, human cells are resilient and are able to fix most of the blemishes that occur each day within our genetic code. Yet, not all of this damage is repairable, which is what scientists believe leads to the body’s inability to heal itself.

Although most of the injuries to DNA are not serious, some damages, like strand breaks, can cause the body to make mistakes during the repair process that can shorten a person’s lifespan.

The good news is that the two primary proteins found in hemp seeds -- Edestin and Albumin -- can assist the body in repairing damaged DNA that it is otherwise incapable of fixing on its own. Edestin protein, which is only found in hemp seeds, has a makeup similar to blood plasma and has been shown to promote a healthy immune system as well as eliminate stress. Its counterpart, Albumin protein, assists in maintaining the strength of tissues that hold the body together.

“Hemp protein contains all of the 20 known amino acids -- including 9 essential amino acids (EAAs). These amino acids are labeled “essential” because the human body can’t produce them on its own. A diet that is deficient of EAAs may lead to degenerative conditions,” according to Global Hemp.

Research shows that consuming hemp seed and hemp seed oil is an ideal method for fixing DNA. This is because hemp contains “the perfect 3:1 ratio” of Omega fatty acids, which are instrumental in the damage done to DNA.

It's such an incredible plant, all round. The people who criminalise people for using this plant are the real criminals!

Did South Carolina recently pass a law allowing industrial hemp growing?

    We need hemp...

Hemp can treat cancer, stop tumor growth, improve rheumatoid arthritis, alleviate depression, and help people get off dozens of more dangerous pharmaceutical drugs. In some instances, people have been able to replace up to 40 toxic medications with cannabis juice alone. The DEA will do anything to keep the war on drugs raging, even though it is really an attempt to keep pharmaceutical companies – the real drug pushers – in play.

Looks like it passed & was signed into law last year; great opportunity for SC.

I still am having trouble believing that hemp has been "set free" but maybe synthetics are so much better now that it doesn't matter anymore...

Almost all the grocery stores and health food stores are offering organic hemp seeds around here. A bit expensive - likely because they are usually pre-hulled (ensures they cannot be grown - hemp is still not legalized here yet, but will be soon if our new PM keeps his promise), but seem to be a popular health food item - in western Canada anyway.

Things are archaic here too...In most states we can grow hemp but only under a licence and with lots of red tape to jump through.
Hemp seeds for consumption are all hulled here too and there is a disclaimer on all hulled hemp meal and seed products sold as "not for human consumption"

Pleased to report, as of a few weeks ago, my state (NC) got the required private funding to implement the now-legal hemp industry, with HQ right down the road from here, and not too far from a town that was called Hemp until it became unfashionable. Startup costs are $250 fee + $2 per acre of cultivation, and a yet-to-be-disclosed license, which you will need, or it will be assumed you're growing the "real thing". Very weird this is called a "pilot program" for something so widely-used for thousands of years, but these maroons have to invent the wheel every time an old plant comes around that wasn't designed by industry.
