Even as we enter summer and have reports of life threatening heat, we need to look at the broader reality around us, and what is happening on the sun. In Vostok Antarctica, temperature of -80.3 degrees was recorded. That is the coldest since observations began. We have record heat and record cold. However, with solar activity diminishing it does seem like the cold will win out over the heat over the next few decades.
The sun is in the midst of its quietest period in more than a century. Many times, as of late, the sun looks like a cue ball, bald, spotless, quiet, disturbingly so. NASA, which presently belongs to the global warming camp, has been predicting diminishing solar activity for years and offers us the following on current solar activity:
Solar activity was at very low levels from 06-08 June and again on 10 June. Low levels were reached on 09 June and again from 11-12. From 13 June – 09 July 2016 solar activity is expected to be at very low to low levels for the forecast period.
Weak solar activity for a prolonged period can have a cooling impact on global temperatures in the troposphere, which is the bottom-most layer of Earth’s atmosphere –where we all live. The number of nearly or completely spotless days should increase over the next few years as we continue to move away from the solar maximum phase of cycle 24 and approach the next solar minimum phase and the beginning of solar cycle 25.’
“The sun is almost completely blank,” meteorologist Paul Dorian notes. Virtually no sunspots darken the blinding yellow orb. “The main driver of all weather and climate … has gone quiet again during what is likely to be the weakest sunspot cycle in more than a century. Not since February 1906 has there been a solar cycle with fewer sunspots.”
“Going back to 1755, there have been only a few solar cycles that have had a lower number of sunspots during their maximum phase,” Dorian continues. This continued downward trend in solar sunspot cycles began over 20 years ago, when Earth stopped warming. If it continues for a couple more cycles, Earth could be entering another “grand minimum,” an extended period of low solar activity. That would mean less incoming solar radiation, which could have a marked cooling effect.”
What does diminishing solar activity mean? It means high food prices, less food availability, colder and longer winters with shorter and shorter growing seasons. It means a whole lot of trouble. It means food riots like is already happening in Venezuela. “High food prices are a concern, both for poorer people in the US, and for the huge number of poor people around the world. If food prices go up, many will not be able to pay for sufficient food for a well-balanced diet (assuming they could in the past). And of course, as food prices go up, people will cut back on spending on more discretionary items, since they have to eat,” writes Gail Tverberg.

Cold Spring/Summer in 2016 is Hurting Food Production in China
Prices are shooting up as food production is dramatically hurt by a cold spring that still, on the verge of summer, is bringing winter conditions to the breadbaskets of the world. Two meters of snow paralyze traffic in northern Xinjiang, China on May 22. It was June 1 and snowing in Siberia. What do you think such cold and snowy conditions so late in Spring is doing to the crops needed to feed billions?
On June 11, it was actually snowing in Mexico of all places. On June 9, it was snowing in the Ukraine. Argentina is having its coldest autumn in 30 years. As late as June 13 it was still snowing in northern Russia. Extreme weather has hit lower Gweru in Zimbabwe’s midlands region of either snow, sleet, hail, or a combination of the tree. There are no reported records of snow in the country, which lies wholly within the tropics. So unusual that there is disbelief but when we look at recent similar happenings in Central America the doubts are erased. Legitimate news organizations like the BBC have confirmed the unusual cold and snow in Zimbabwe.
Southern Brazil has seen record temperatures below zero since June 3. On the seventh, the lowest in Brazil was 2.2 ° C below zero in Santa Catarina. On June 6, in Australia, a low of -7.7 degrees broke the previous record May low of -6.1 at the old Lithgow weather station. It has not been this cold in Brazil in 22 years.
On June 12, we had reports of snow and unusual cold in the Washington Cascades. On the same day, we have reports of six days in a row of expected snow on Mt Rainier. And would you believe, it still is snowing in California.
Professor Khabibullo Abdusamatov
The head of the Space Research section of the Russian Academy of Science, Professor Khabibullo Abdussamatov,, in 2006 issued a press release, warning that the world should prepare for imminent global cooling. He predicted that the next ice age would start in 2012 – 2015, and would likely peak around 2055. He was looking to the most obvious reason global cooling is happening—the sun.
Abdussamatov, head of a space research lab at the Pulkovo observatory in St. Petersburg, said back in 2008 that global temperatures would drop slightly, rather than rise, due to unprecedentedly low solar radiation, and would continue decreasing even if industrial emissions of carbon dioxide reach record levels.
Abdussamatov predicted the onset of a new "mini-ice age" commencing 2014 and becoming most severe around 2055. Abdussamatov predicts global cooling due to declining Total Solar Irradiance and evidence of global CO2 lagging temperature. He models a Maunder-type Minimum around 2043 with deep cooling like the Little Ice Age around 2060.
Starvation Comes With Shorter Growing Seasons
Less water and colder weather is not a good formula for feeding 7 billion people. The 2014 growing season — at 134 days — is the third shortest on record. The shortest was 114 days in 1901, followed by 133 days in 1912. Previously, the earliest fall frost in 117 years of record keeping at the Kansas State University Agricultural Research Center at the south edge of Hays, was Sept. 17, recorded twice in 1901 and again two years later in 1903. That means 2014’s first frost broke the previous 114-year-old record by five days.
The amount of available grain will decline as temperatures get cooler. Even if you’re able to harvest it, if the wheat is covered with snow when you harvest it, once that snow melts and turns to water, the seeds become moldy. There is no way for seven billion people to live on a quickly cooling planet—hundreds of millions will probably perish starting in populations of grain importing nations first.
In the key crop regions of the U.S., there has been an extended cooling trend that persists despite the immense human CO2 emissions released over the last two decades. These and other NOAA charts depict cooling trends across a wide swath of American agricultural production representing the main corn, soybean, spring and winter wheat growing areas. Global cooling brings with it high potential for devastation in terms of crop yields.
Geophysicist Phillip Chapman, a former NASA astronaut-scientist and president of the National Space Society, says, “The next Little Ice Age would be much worse than the previous one and much more harmful than anything warming may do,” Chapman says. “It is time to put aside the global warming dogma, at least to begin contingency planning. During the Maunder Minimum, in the depth of the Little Ice Age, hundreds of thousands of people in Europe died from starvation when the climate turned rainy and cold and cut short the growing season. We’re being told there’s global warming, but we’re headed in the other direction . . . we’re right on the precipice of the next ice age. When it happens, we’ll be fighting in the streets for food long before we’re covered by ice.”
Things can and do get so bad that people cannot buy foods at any price because food will not be available because someone else has bought them up. One can expect things like this to happen when we have blizzards and other violent storm events. In many countries that cannot feed themselves, and depend on grain imports, their population’s very lives depend on grain surpluses of other countries that might not always be available and can be wiped out from one year to the next.
Surging population and food demand, food inflation, diminishing world food stocks, drought, flooding, cold, diminished credit, infestations, soil erosion, industrial farming, factory farm pollution, aquifers/wells going dry, relocation of produce for energy production are all slamming into a global financial and economic crisis setting the stage for food shortages and price increases that will leave a lot of people starving to death. Even without the cold and increasing food prices people are having a hard time getting food this month of June. We have widespread reports of “glitches” with the food stamp system. It is eight days into the month and large numbers of people still have not received their benefits, and in other instances, it is being reported that EBT cards are simply not working correctly. Millions of course are starving in Africa where the drought is threating to bring bringing 50 million to an early grave.
More than 500,000 and as many as 1 million of the nation’s poorest people will be cut off SNAP (formerly known as the Food Stamp Program) over the course of 2016, due to the return in many areas of a three-month limit on SNAP benefits for unemployed adults aged 18-49 who aren’t disabled or raising minor children.
Death by starvation is coming to millions of old people around the world as their pension funds are being decimated by central banks and politicians who are raping old people’s financial ability to feed themselves. Zero percent interest rates and ultra-loose monetary policies pursued for the benefit of banks and corporations will offer an extinction level event for old people. Does any politician care?
