A former member of the Nine-Eleven Commission says Saudi officials supported the
2001 terror attacks in the US. John Lehman said he believes there is clear evidence
that Saudi individuals and government employees were part of a support network
for the Nine-Eleven hijackers. He added that the commission may have been wrong
in its final report that was largely read as an exoneration of Saudi Arabia. According
to the 2004 report, Saudi Arabia was home to 15 of the 19 hijackers involved in the
2001 attacks. Lehman said five Saudi government officials were suspected of
involvement in the terrorists’ support network. He urged the Obama administration
to move quickly to declassify the 28-page congressional report on Saudi ties to the
2001 terrorist attacks. Last month, the commission’s vice chairman Lee Hamilton
praised Riyadh as an ally in combating terrorism and said only one Saudi government
official was implicated in the investigation.

‘The United States Senate has passed a legislation that would allow
the victims of the 9/11 terror attacks to take legal action against the
government of Saudi Arabia despite opposition by the White House.

“This bill is very near and dear to my heart as a New Yorker because
it would allow the victims of 9/11 to pursue some small measure of
justice,” New York Democratic Senator Charles Schumer said Tuesday.
“[This is] another example of the [John] Cornyn-Schumer collaboration,
which works pretty well around here.”

The Republican-controlled upper chamber unanimously voted for the
Justice Against Sponsors of Terrorism Act, which would allow any victim
or surviving family members of a terrorist attack on the US soil to take
legal action against the foreign nation-states behind the measure.’

‘A prominent US lawmaker has characterized a classified 28-page congressional report on the September,
11, 2001 terrorist attacks as “shocking” as pressure builds on President Barack Obama to release the report.

US Representative Rick Nolan, a Democrat representing Minnesota’s 8th congressional district, made the
remarks Wednesday after reading the 28-page report.

“It’s very detailed. It has the names of the people who supplied money to the 15 Saudi Arabians who participated
in the bombing of the World Trade Center and the Pentagon. The bank account numbers, where the money went to,
” Nolan told RT.’

‘The Saudi press is still furious over the U.S. Senate’s unanimous vote approving a
bill that allows the families of 9/11 victims to sue Saudi Arabia. This time, the
London-based Al-Hayat daily has claimed that the U.S. planned the attacks on the
World Trade Center in order to create a global war on terror.

The article, written by Saudi legal expert Katib al-Shammari and translated by MEMRI,
claims that American threats to expose documents that prove Saudi involvement in the
attacks are part of a long-standing U.S. policy that he calls “victory by means of archives.”

Al-Shammari claims that the U.S. chooses to keep some cards close to its chest in order
to use them at a later date. One example is choosing not to invade Iraq in the 1990s and
keeping its leader, Saddam Hussein, alive to use as “a bargaining chip” against other Gulf

‘Saudi Arabia and its allies have asked Israel to resume Middle East negotiations
under new terms which include changes to Riyadh’s “peace” initiative, Israeli media
reports say.

The kingdom, its Persian Gulf allies, Jordan and Egypt have been sending messages
to Israel through various emissaries, including former British PM Tony Blair, the
Israeli newspaper Arutz Sheva reported.

‘A revived push to pass a House resolution to declassify 28 pages of a 9/11 report
possibly detailing official Saudi Arabian involvement in the terror attacks is being
led by a group of congressmen targeting the House Intelligence Committee.

During the previous White House administration, President George W. Bush classified
the 28-page chapter to allegedly protect intelligence sources. In 2014, President
Barack Obama ordered a declassification review of the redacted pages from the
December 2002 congressional report known as the Final Report of the Joint Inquiry

'28 Pages': Newly released 9/11 documents find no official Saudi link

Several previously classified pages of the 9/11 Commission Report have been
released Congress has released previously classified documents about whether the
Saudi government had a role in the 9/11 attacks. The pages show no officials links
between the Saudi government and the hijackers who killed nearly 3,000 people in
New York.However, the report found it was likely that the attackers had financial
help from people inside the kingdom.

An independent panel completed the 9/11 Commission Report in 2002.

But several pages - informally known as "the 28 Pages" - were withheld from the
public for 13 years, fuelling speculation about their contents.

Nearly 3,000 people were killed in the 9/11 attacks

For years, lawmakers and family members of the 9/11 victims lobbied for their
release, arguing the US government was shielding an important ally.

Fifteen of the 19 hijackers who flew planes into the World Trade Center and the
Pentagon were Saudi nationals.

The released pages were still lightly redacted by the CIA. The report's original
authors cautioned that some of the information contained in "the 28 pages" was
unvetted material complied by the FBI.

The Saudi government said it welcomed the release of the documents on Friday.

The release confirms "neither the Saudi government, nor senior Saudi officials, nor
any person acting on behalf of the Saudi government provided any support or
encouragement for these attacks,'' Abdullah Al-Saud, Saudi Arabia's ambassador to
the United States, said in a statement on Friday.
