    Default Documentaries... "Inside Wikileaks "

    Quote August 2010

Hero or villian, Julian Assange stunned the world when he leaked more than 90,000 war files. Accompanying Assange through every step of the unfolding drama, this report reveals a man on a mission.

"We get attacked not in proportion to whatever we are doing wrong or doing right, but in proportion to the impact that our material is having. They'll attack the messenger and try to discolour the message by proxy." Shaking off claims that he has endangered lives, Assange is determined: "this historical archive belongs to the people of Afghanistan". Speaking from a temporary HQ in London, Assange and his nomadic team may be staying on the move, but they don't plan on staying in hiding. Packing up his rucksack and heading 'to the bunker in The Guardian' to prepare for the release, the whistleblower is stoic: "My function in Wikileaks is to take all the heat. I've had my baptismal fire". And he isn't showing signs of stopping; threatening to release a further 15,000 reports, his message is clear: "stay tuned".
( apologies if this has already been posted)

This Video i found very insightful, it also details why some of the leaks have hit the press before wikileaks website...

    update: Inside wikileaks- USA

    Quote November 2010

Julian Assange has been labelled one of the most dangerous men on earth. With the most comprehensive archive of background reports in the world, we get right inside the guarded world of the whistle-blower.

"We want to create a system where there is guaranteed free press across the world...", enthuses Assange. Yet critics call the actions of the whistle-blower 'activism' not journalism, arguing that his releases are 'agenda-driven' and 'reckless'. Shaking off claims that he is endangering lives, Assange and his nomadic team may be staying on the move, but they don't intend to stay in hiding. Fly-on-the-wall reporting reveals a quietly determined man on a mission.Whether he is to be condemned or congratulated, Assange is adamant that "the true nature of this world is being revealed", and with more releases yet to come his message is clear: "stay tuned".

Quote Julian Assage -- the founder of Wikileaks -- has remained shrouded in mystery since the launch of his site in 2006.

This fascinating expose reveals the man behind the leaks.
Assange spent the majority of his youth travelling from place to place, attending 37 different schools and being charged with numerous hacking offences. While he continues to move, he does so to maintain his extensive network of Wikileaks contacts and to avoid the unwanted attention of governments. Despite frequently hitting the front pages of newspapers around the world, Assange has somehow managed to retain a low profile. This is now changing as he finally steps into the spotlight to defend Wikileaks and to address what he feels is a false perception the media is portraying of him. "The true nature of this world is being revealed. It's not being interpreted for you. There it is, face to face from the inside". Now, with Wikileaks, he is finally offering it to the world.

The latest is that Geoffrey Robertson a recognized extradition specialist is supposed to be flying in from Australia to represent Julian Assange.

Kind of interesting the turn-about in the 'official' position of the Australian Govt. concerning Australian citizen, J.A. These cynical individuals saw the way the wind of public opinion was blowing and are doing damage control...............it remains to be seen what happens to J.A. I myself can't help but wonder where Wikileaks draws the line in the sand and what will prompt release of the encryption key for the insurance policy sent around the world. I want to see ALL the documents released, including the insurance policy documents so everyone can look at them in the clear, cool light of day. Congratulations citizens of Australia! Now if only the citizens in other countries could exert such an influence on their rulers.

    Thanks, Astrid.

I'm trying to get my head around the media stuff.
Have they been put in a position which forces their hand - is 'the guardian' not controlled by the 'ptw'?
Are editors finally starting to grow some cojones?
Are we still only being given filtered doses?
Is the release of this info all part of the plan of the 'ptw'?

    So many questions.

I got a good feeling from Asange during that interview. I'd like to think he was one of the good guys.

Julian is playing this game so well, it is hard to discern if anyone is pulling his strings or not.

Right at this moment, I think that what wikileaks has done is historic - and seems to be for the best. It certainly has lifted a rock on a sunny day, and we see the bugs all scurrying for the cover of darkness.

If it does not end up with the internet being bought under draconian "great firewall of the NWO" control, then what will be achieved will be a monumentally positive outcome for the world.

I love that his statement re the war files are for the Afgan people - brownie points for this.
Not sure why they did the close up on his holey sock
I think this is a fully collaborative effort on behalf of all the major papers described in the vid - interesting that the guardian allowed the bunker at their place. They must be all secretly supporting and funding wikileaks???? Maybe the journos beleive that this is the place for them to anonymously get their information out to the public.
He is right, other than denting egos, (my slant) there has been no person placed in danger as a result of the release of the documents. (except for himself)

Thanks Astrid - it certainly helps to get a visual on the person

Well, I wrote to the pm again saying they had an obligation to protect an Australian citizen. I don't know if it will get read or not, but it definitely wouldn't hurt if we all inundated the gvt with demands that are due to Australian citizens. (and should be to all, really - and carried out)

    Here's the link: http://www.pm.gov.au/PM_Connect/contact_your_pm_form

for anyone who feels so inclined. 2 minutes of your time, if we all act together it could have remarkable effect. And at least whoever is reading will know that Australians are active participants in their country.

I think we owe it to whistleblowers to support them however we can.

I get wikileaks is a good thing , transparency , all that , it's just not complete , unless that's the stuff that's coming out in the "insurance" release ....mentioned other places the conspicuous absence of anthing derogitory on israels part ...could it be the mossad fed wikileaks with its own intelligence ( selective of course)

I think that there is just simply so much information being fed to them, and with so little staff to verify an consider the information makes slows the process. Having seen the vid has helped me understand how they work. I wonder if they have just priotitized information and tried to group it all together to send out rather than random bits and pieces.
I think the best is yet to come
(I still do not forgive him about his 9/11 comments, I wish someone else would ask him the question)

No bloody way, Witchy - I don't trust the government one iota :D

And I use my political & letters to the editor - name, rather than my real name. It's an anagram.

My family don't like me being politically outspoken so it's mostly for their benefit, plus, I like my privacy.

Yeah, course they could if they really wanted to, but I don't want to make anything easy for them.

Plus, I don't think I would be worth their energy to go to the bother.

Thinking about it - I did get a phone call from a gvt office wanting 10 minutes of my time after I wrote about the Kevin Bracken - 911 thing.

Hubby and I were busy having a tiff at the time so I gave them the telemarketer brush off and got back to it.

I wonder now if if they were doing some kind of poll getting numbers on who thought 911 was a hoax.

Or maybe they were going to ask for my address

I have a hunch that you wont see the insurance release, unless Mr Assange were to have some kind of accident, or was extradited in a plane that was to have an unfortunate incident, or some kind of "crazed" or "deranged" member of the public takes a pop at thim etc etc (you know how its done...)

Ive had 3 telemarketers from the gvt ring recently
one just last week wanting to do an emmissions thing - like come into the house to check "appliances" for energy leakage -originally thought why not, then thought again........ like f*** off. Had 2 follow up calls asking to reconsider - I would be doing the gvt a favour if I said yes.......mmmmmmmmmmmm
the other two were surveys about general polictical crap - my pleasure.
Other than that its every night for new phone rates, holidays computer stuff........going to by a whistle
