Greetings fellow researchers!

What are your thoughts on immortality , is there a way of getting it and would you getting it?

Immortality could be achieved by fast cell regeneration maybe ...

If one has the tendency to go slightly mad or weird in this short life, then one is most likely to go completely over the Edge with immortality. So choose wisely.
One way of archiving it is through a substance sometimes called the philosopher's stone. It´s not a stone really, it forms as a clump if done right and can be made into a powder. Another way is from inside yourself. But this way requires a big sacrifice. One can use the sexual energy to make oneself immortal. You can still love people but you cannot have sex anymore, otherwise you become mortal again. It was said to be dangerous, but i have not figured out why.

for example: "After the kingship descended from heaven, the kingship was in Eridug. In Eridug, Alulim became king; he ruled for 28800 years." It say he ruled that long, most likely lived a bit longer. That´s pretty close to immortal

It's just the body that dies & drops off . . . keeping the same old husk patched & glued together doesn't appeal to me at all - there is real freedom in being out of body. & I suspect & hope this will be the next evolutionary step for all physical beings.

Yes, I take it as an axiom that we...or actually everything...is immortal, steadily moving towards higher forms, assuming you harmonize with nature.

28,800 years is a long lifespan for a human form, but not for others (elementals, minerals, celestials). Pre-flood may refer to archaic races which normally had longer lifespans. The alchemists uzn mentioned, I don't dispute that, but to an extent of about 300 years (maybe more). It's easier if you almost totally quit moving and lower your body temperature by a few degrees; St. Germain probably did this on Himalayan vacations. There is also a yoga I can't quite recall the name of, where a yogi discards his current body and inhabits someone else's freshly discarded one, which saves them from having to go through infancy again. I'm not the one who could put a limit on how many times this could be repeated.

And, there are probably other ways, which contradict nature and so should be forbidden. Not that I actually can forbid it to anyone, but it's better not to talk about.

I'm happy for my soul to be immortal, but not my body, in this present incarnation...or any really.

I cant think of anything worse to be honest. To be trapped in a life in the same body and watch those around you who you know and love die. The rollercoaster that is life is amazing, yet excruciating at times.

I think there is a very good reason the majority of people have no recollection of their past lives...I'm only 42 and my soul feels ancient.

Imagine having to carry the weight of the world and all your experiences forever...however long forever is...

I don't think the human brain, working at its current 10% is anywhere near capable of dealing with that extent of knowing. It would be a burden rather than a blessing I feel!

Immortality? Bah. Partially furred, electrically powered water filled gas processing meat bags inhabited by sentient multidimensional beings would be bored. The end goal is to ride them until they break, and get in line to ride another.

Siddhartha (Buddha) said: It is not the goal to continue the circle(of life) endlessly. It is to break the circle. To get out of this endless loop (not like Sisyphus to do the same stuff again and again).

If you look for the "Food of the gods" you will find in almost all mythologies substances that made immortal. In greek Mythology the greek goddess who cared about the immortality substance (Ambrosia) was kidnapped. The greek gods started to age and had to rescue her really fast. That was a matter of life and death to them.

I forgot to mention Cagliostro. But as shaberon said above this is talking about the forbidden fruit. So i stop here.

In Robert Monroe's third book, ULTIMATE JOURNEY, he hinted that eternal bliss was boring.
It would be ironic that the rush to get corporeal is an attempt to escape eternal boredom...

In Buddhism, the "escape from the wheel of rebirth" is the lower level and most widely accepted scheme. Bodhisattva vow is to deny one's liberation in order to work for the benefit of others. Doing so through age and injury constitutes a great sacrifice, when death would be a welcome relief.

The primary process is to unite our mind with the immortal (nectar of the gods). The only reason to make the body increase its lifespan would be the Bodhisattva vow. You would be healthier, but it isn't necessarily easy or blissful. I don't find myself qualified to even consider that. Mental and physical health, yes...being marginally helpful or useful to others, yes...but that's about the extent of my capabilities. The great alchemists, yogis, Buddha, are role models, not me. If I pretended to that level of greatness, I'd wind up another Cagliostro. It will be many meat bags before I have drank enough nectar; or, in the wrathful symbolism, drank from enough skull cups filled with the blood of transcendental wisdom.

1. If you physically die against your conscious will power then you have more to learn here.

2. Physical immortality isn't about being stuck in a physical body, it's a state of conscious mastery that enables you to come and go in a physical body at will.

3. Obviously seeking advice about physical immortality with anyone who isn't physically immortal results in mere speculation.

I've thought on immortality, and, when I was younger, I really wanted to live for eons; however, now that I know that our soul lives on after we die, I think I will be happy to leave and allow the resources I would've needed to be utilized by another.

Another poster mentioned the possibility of boredom in the hereafter. Yes, maybe, but I truly doubt it.

I'm looking forward to having no aches and pains and "living" in my afterlife.

I feel there is no way or no need and also no desire for immortality in the state of separation as we are. oneness would give immortality , oneness with all and that would be in spirit in my imaginings .
