Before I forget I just wanted to thank Turiya for this thread!
You mentioned closing the thread now that trump is in. I hope you keep it open for the first 100 days more at least.

During the last few months of the campaign I started getting more down in the dumps than usual. I couldn't go to my normal news sites. I started depending on this thread for the campaign/election news more and more. There was something about it being filtered by like minded and caring people that made it easier to take. I'm grateful for this thread. Thanks again Turiya...
    Thank you, Helene...
As many know, here, a good place to go for factual news is ZeroHedge.com. The site covers many aspects & issues. When I first came to know about it was by the way of economics, financials, and markets. This was when I was a member of only one other forum at that time - curezone.com. This was, in fact, at a time when it was frequently visited by Tyler Durden. The first posts I remember him posting were about the Canadian psychic Douglas James Cottrell. We didn't hit it off at the time because I was rather skeptical on the correctness of Cottrell's predictions... As an example he predicted that President Obama would be assassinated (click on the highlighted phrase)... another video of what he said of Obama ("being a ray of hope") caused me to discount most of the rest of what he was putting forth...

EU - Not China Or Japan - Is The Biggest US Treasury Holder (And This Is Not A Good Sign)

Mainstream media are reporting that Japan has become the biggest holder of the US treasuries, surpassing China last month. However, this is true only in regard to single countries, as The EU became the top US Treasury holder in February 2016, i.e. one year ago. Unfortunately, the EU’s holdings are artificially overstated because of some financial havens and they are going in the opposite direction to the trend: up rather than down.

Limo Destroyed By Anti-Trump Rioters In DC Belongs To Muslim Immigrant, Fears Livelihood Lost

Images of so-called anti-Trump rioters breaking Starbucks' windows, busting trash cans, and burning bourgeois limousines in the streets of Washington DC really exposed the reality of the alt-left's tolerance and 'stuck it to the man'. The only problem being, in the case of the limo, 'the man' was Muslim immigrant Muhammad Ashraf whose small business now faces $70,000 losses and an injured employee.

The 'Lame stream' are daily trying to keep Trump in a defensive mode .....

The press can twist any comment public or private and Trump will have get used to
that very quick as it will be worse in the White House than on the electoral road. He
knows this and will need a little time to adjust, though I doubt it will stop him
    expressing his thoughts out loud....LOL

The topics raised by Trump are discussed on the web and it makes me laugh how
shocked the mainstream journalists are , they should spend time on the web as
part of their research for balance if nothing else. The Donald will keep Kellyanne,
Sean Spicer and his other press aids busy as the mainstream continue to 'snipe'
at any unguarded or purposely dropped comment.

Three days in and Trump has
    already kept one pledge

    — Paul Craig Roberts
    January 24, 2017 | Categories: Articles & Columns
On Trump’s third day Trump is one up on the Establishment. Can this last?

I am not a Trump booster. I am a scorekeeper.

On the third day of his presidency Donald Trump signed an executive order withdrawing the United States from the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP). Based on this we must assume he will also deep-six the Trans-Atlantic Partnership.

Trump and his advisors regard the Pacific and Atlantic partnerships as trade deals like NAFTA, the North American Free Trade Agreement that sent American jobs to Mexico at the expense of Americans.

However, the most strategic part of these agreements is that they make global corporations immune from the laws of the countries in which they do business if those laws adversely impact the profits of the global corporations.

Who decides the question? Not the courts of the countries or a world court.
The question is decided by a corporate tribunal staffed only by corporations.

In other words, the sovereign laws of sovereign countries, such as France’s laws against GMOs, are subject to damage suits decided by corporate tribunals, which means the end of the legal sovereignty of countries.

The so-called trade partnerships are weapons of American economic imperialism.

Whether Trump and his advisors are aware of this or not, Trump has on his third day dealt a lethal blow to a power lusted after by US global corporations.

How will this formidable force respond to this blow inflicted upon them by Trump?

That remains to be seen if the blows that Trump has promised against the interests of the elites continue.

Global corporations are Fifth Columns in the countries in which they are incorporated and also in the foreign countries in which they do business. They have no loyalty to any country, only to the profits that comprise their bottom line. Anything that increases those profits they regard as legitimate. Anything that diminishes those profits they regard as illegitimate.

Modern capitalism is a profit-driven world, in which capitalists are devoid of the loyalty to their native countries that Adam Smith and David Ricardo assumed them to have. US global corporations have demonstrated their disloyalty to the US by moving US jobs to Asia. Think Apple, Nike, Levi, and all the rest. Jobs offshoring separates consumers from the incomes associated with the production of the goods that they consume, which leads to penury.

The rewards for the offshoring global corporations have been large profits from reduced labor and regulatory costs, resulting in executive “performance bonuses” and capital gains to shareholders and to executives with stock options or some similar income booster.

The costs have been the dismantling of the ladders of upward mobility that made the US an “opportunity society.” High productivity, high valued added manufacturing and professional skill jobs, such as software engineering jobs, have been moved offshore, and in the case of software jobs also given to foreign H1B work visa holders. The consequence is the collapse of the state, local, and federal tax base, and the consequent assault on Social Security, Medicare, and state and local pensions.

A country like the US that gives its GNP away to other countries is locked into a transformation from First World to Third World. This is what Trump has said he will reverse.

How can he do it? Is this something that he can deliver by cutting corporate tax rates and by imposing an import or border tax?

The US is a member of the World Trade Agreement, which prohibits tarrifs or “border taxes.” If this is correct, Trump would first have to pull the US out of the WTO, something that might be difficult.

However, what Trump can do is to offset the labor cost advantage to corporate profits from offshoring their production for US markets by changing how corporations are taxed.

If US corporations add value to their product in the US, that is, if they produce the products that they market to Americans in the US with American labor, they would have a lower tax rate than if they produce the products abroad with foreign labor. The difference in the tax rate can be calculated to offset, or more than offset, the advantage of the lower labor and regulatory costs abroad. This is a matter of domestic taxation and not a matter of tarrifs on foreign-produced goods, and, therefore, it is not subject to WTO rules.

Because of the globalist propaganda, Americans have forgotten that the strength of their economy was domestically-based. The development of the US economy was never based on foreign trade. It rested firmly in the rise of consumer spending power from America labor receiving the bulk of the productivity gains.

What jobs offshoring did was to transfer the income gains from productivity to corporate profits by underpaying Asian labor.

It was easy to pay Asian labor less than labor’s contribution to profit, because of the immense excess supply of Chinese, Indian, Indonesian, and other labor. When labor is plentiful and jobs are scarce, labor goes begging.

Even today the Chinese and Indian labor forces are under-employed. The only way American labor can compete is to accept a wage below the US standard of living.

Trump understands this, just as did Ross Perot and Pat Buchanan.

Ross Perot was a billionaire; yet he stood up for ordinary working Americans. Yet, the left says all billionaires are evil.

Pat Buchanan was royalty in the Republican Establishment; yet he deserted them and stood up for the ordinary working American. And the left says he is a “Nixon-Reagan fascist.”

Clearly, the pathetic remnant of the American left has more hate for those who stand up for the working class than they have for those oppressing the working class and those fomenting war. Why did the women so quick to march against Trump not march against the Clinton, Bush/Cheney, and Obama regimes for killing, maiming, orphaning, widowing, and dislocating millions of peoples in Afghanistan, Iraq, Somalia, Pakistan, Yemen, Libya, and Syria?

That we see the left aligned with the ruling elites against Trump is proof that the left has abandoned the working class.

Chris Hedges doesn’t know how desperately revolution is needed in the US. If revolution occurs, it is more likely to be led by Donald Trump than by the left.

About 2 months ago, I saw a post (perhaps in this thread but if not, it was elsewhere on this forum) which quoted the text in the proposed TPP that specifically outlined this component of the agreement.

IMO, as well is the opinion of many others I have spoken with, that component alone... especially if this same component spread to the other proposed trade agreements - would be the strongest, most powerful "nail" in the coffin of humanity with regards to the world becoming full blown fascist.

So now I ask the readers here to ask themselves a very easy question to answer. Is that component representative of a fascist agenda? I will give my answer - YES.

I then considered how Trump had blasted TPP for months by arguing that it was bad for US by citing trade disadvantages... something that fit right into his primary theme that he wished to help the working folks in the US. But I make odds almost 100% that he was fully aware of this particular component to the deal. But also, he's a smart man and he certainly knows that this component was the gold within the deal as eyed by those whose agenda is to install a global, fascist one world order.

If so far, anyone who has read this post also agrees, then I ask you this question. How can folks throw the label of "fascist" on Trump and/or fascism on his agenda when Trump didn't just talk the talk, but actually and swiftly followed through on his promise to kill the deal?

Now I am not the sharpest guy in the world (by a long shot) but I can easily see promise after promise made by Trump having elements of anti-fascism and if actions prove prior words (promises) should be taken seriously when it comes to policy,... this is what is becoming known as "Trumpism."

For now, it would be fantasy to expect corporations to be wiped away. But the massive difference between multi-national corporations being in charge of their own oversight is night and day worse than nations having their laws and court systems minding the hen house (still a problem but a problem each nation can deal with as the movement moves forward).

Anyway, as far as actions from the Trump administration goes... this is just the beginning, folks.

    Now another point.

Recall how after it was clear that Trump received a great deal of support from potential voters for his position on TPP that Hillary suddenly came out "against it?"

Does anyone here think that if she had been elected, that she would not have gone for a minor adjustment to the deal while leaving in the actual gold (the tribunals)? Does anyone not think she would have proclaimed how she was "watching out for the people" and "leading" with regards to "forcing" those other countries to agree to the meaningless adjustment and then signed the agreement?

Does any reader here actually question the incredible "death knell blow" the US (and perhaps the world if other countries are wise enough to force their leaders to follow) avoided? At least so far?

When are the nay-sayer folks going to start looking at this administration's actions which started Nov 9, 2016 by the way) and stop creating and promulgating dark fantasies so often based on silly words spoken by a non-politician?

Focus on the policies, especially the form of the policies, being implemented. Focus on the results of these implementations which are already starting to show.

Seriously... and this isn't just about the US, folks... its a movement, Brexit, as an example, other elections and parallel trends show this movement is not at all isolated to the US.

I want to make one last point.

Almost every single adult on Earth, especially above the age of 35, has children. For folks who do not, most have brothers and sisters and most of them have children. This would also include the adults caught up in the darker activities. I have no doubt that many of these same folks have within their heart a hope, wish and desire that perhaps all our children might become free of the truly terrible reality many of us know is actually going on.

Just like there were voters who wouldn't tell anyone they were voting for Trump, there are certainly many trapped in the darkness who are rooting for the shift in our world which could free us all, especially with regards to our loved ones we leave behind.
All the above is all and only my opinion - all subject to change and not meant to be true for anyone else regardless of how I phrase it.

How does this all marry up to Trump removing support systems for violence against women, healthcare for women, and laws that protect the environment? The EPA is the last stop between corporate industrial dumping and human and biological health.

    Please read this: http://www.businessinsider.com/epa-freeze-trump-2017-1

The Environmental Protection Agency has frozen all new grants and contracts and barred its employees from talking about it with the press or public.

That's according to reports from ProPublica and The Huffington Post as well as information passed anonymously from EPA staff to Business Insider.

Business Insider reached out to the EPA to confirm the reports, as well as a report that President Donald Trump has barred the EPA from funding its own science, but did not immediately receive a response.

The EPA's core mission is to protect Americans from poisons and other dangers in their air, water, and soil. Much of that work happens through private contractors hired by the EPA for services like water-quality testing and cleanups.

With all new grants and contracts frozen, it's unclear how work will continue. Here's what still a mystery:

Does the freeze affect the $6.4 billion in active contracts the EPA already has in place?
Is the freeze indefinite or temporary?
Should we expect a shift in the kinds of projects the EPA takes on or how it handles them?
The Trump administration apparently doesn't intend to answer those questions yet.

EPA employees reportedly received a memo from a member of the agency staff instructing them not to talk to the press or public. It bars employees from issuing press releases, sharing information on agency social media, blogging, putting new information on the agency website, or sending messages on agency listservs, because those messages might leak to the public.

The memo also says that all speaking engagements by agency employees are on hold, pending a review. (You can read the memo in full at The Huffington Post.)

As Business Insider has reported in the past, federal agencies are big and mostly staffed with nonpolitical civil servants. That can provide cover for scientists and other staff members who want to work on controversial issues like climate change, even when a new presidential administration is hostile to their work. There's simply too much going on in too many places for politicians to snuff it all out.

However, the Trump administration has been particularly hostile to the EPA. Trump's pick to lead the agency, Scott Pruitt, is involved in active lawsuits against EPA activities across the country. Pruitt argued in his confirmation hearing that the EPA had far overstepped its bounds as a regulatory agency.

Further, Trump's transition at the EPA was led by Myron Ebell, a man who has made a career of denying the science of climate change.

Ebell, who no longer works with the transition, told ProPublica, "They're trying to freeze things to make sure nothing happens they don't want to have happen, so any regulations going forward, contracts, grants, hires, they want to make sure to look at them first."

Anyway, as far as actions from the Trump administration goes... this is just the beginning, folks.
I'm also neither the sharpest tack in the box...

And so, this notion - of Trump being associated with fascism - now, this was the very first thought that floated into my brain when I first heard that he was running for the Presidency (April 2016)... I suppose the reason why this notion came to mind was because of a definition of 'fascism' that I had heard at a time previously... and that definition is: The merging of government with corporation(s) = fascism. And since Trump being known as a billionaire businessman - my thinking instantly gravitated into this false idea - that a Trump presidency would certainly make this country more fascist than it had already become.

It wasn't until I began trying to understand why most career politicians on both sides & the MSM corporate news outlets were expressing their outrage with Trump, that I started to pay attention to what he was actually saying. And a short time of going through a few speeches did I immediately understand that this was not the case.

As you may know, I have spent a considerable time meditating... there was a time that I spent 2-1/2 years in India doing nothing but - in an attempt to get my health back - it was literally, a life or death situation. After coming back to America, I immediately found that my intuitive sense had become enhanced. I realized that I could tell when someone was telling me the truth or lying to me. Its like I could read between the lines of what people were saying - more like a sense in feeling what was said. Anyways, when I listened to what Trump was saying - it immediately struck me - that he truly meant what he was saying - I sensed it - he was speaking true.

Now, I realize that not everyone has this kind of sensitivity. So for most, it would seem that they are only looking at Trump as a billionaire business man, so how could it be anything different than his being for a corporate control over government.

Its nice to have a knowledgeable individual, such as Paul Craig Roberts, make it so patently clear with his above article, in that the hidden agenda within the TPP would be to remove individual nations from their sovereignty. The obvious next step to be taken is to withdraw membership from the United Nations, as Ted Cruz is suggesting. We may yet see American court system distancing itself from UCC / Maritime Law & returning to the Law of the Land.

One thing is to point out that the Business Insider article is written by liberal-biased journalist, Rafi Letzter. So, the context will have a slant to it - leaning to the left, as The Huffington Post is as well.

It might serve you well to get a view from yet another window regarding this issue. It may answer most, if not all, your questions...

    It wasn't just the EPA.

Earlier today, we reported that the Trump administration instituted a media blackout at the Environmental Protection Agency and barred staff from awarding any new contracts or grants.

Emails sent to EPA staff since President Donald Trump's inauguration on Friday and reviewed by The Associated Press, detailed the specific prohibitions banning press releases, blog updates or posts to the agency's social media accounts. On Monday, the Huffington Post reported that EPA grants had been frozen, with agency employees barred from speaking of the matter. The memo ordering the social media blackout is shown below.

Cited by The Hill, Myron Ebell, who leads the Trump EPA transition, confirmed the freeze to ProPublica. “They’re trying to freeze things to make sure nothing happens they don’t want to have happen, so any regulations going forward, contracts, grants, hires, they want to make sure to look at them first,” Ebell told ProPublica. Trump's pick for EPA director, Oklahoma Attorney General Scott Pruitt, has frequently challenged agency policy in court.

The Trump administration reportedly told the Department of the Interior to stop tweeting from its accounts over the weekend after the National Park Service's Twitter account retweeted a post about the crowd sizes at Trump's inauguration Friday. The agency brought back its accounts on Saturday.

Asked if the EPA had been gagged, White House press secretary Sean Spicer said on Tuesday: "I don't know ... we're looking into it ... I don't think it's a surprise we're going to review the policies but I don't have any info at this time."

According to Reuters sources, the move "reinforced concerns that Trump, a climate change doubter, could seek to sideline scientific research showing that carbon dioxide emissions from burning fossil fuels contributes to global warming, as well as the career staffers at the agencies that conduct much of this research."

The agency also was asked by the White House on Monday to temporarily halt all contracts, grants and interagency agreements pending a review, according to multiple sources. The EPA awards billions of dollars worth of grants and contracts every year to support programs around environmental testing, cleanups and research. According to Reuters, the White House sent a letter to the EPA's Office of Administration and Resources Management ordering the freeze on Monday. "Basically no money moving anywhere until they can take a look," the staffer said, asking not to be named.

    * * *

Now, as Reuters adds, other agencies were also impacted, and the Trump's administration has put staff at a slew of government agencies on notice - "be careful what you say."

In addition to the EPA, the Interior Department and the U.S. Department of Agriculture also has seen efforts to curb communication. On Monday, staff at the department's Agricultural Research Service (ARS) were asked in an email to suspend the release of "any public-facing documents."

"This includes, but is not limited to, news releases, photos, fact sheets, news feeds, and social media content," the email said.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture disavowed the email on Tuesday, saying in a statement that it was released without "departmental direction and prior to departmental guidance being issued."

"ARS will be providing updated direction to its staff," according to the statement.

The ARS focuses on scientific research into the main issues facing agriculture, including long-term climate change.

Last week, staff at the Interior Department were told to stop posting on Twitter after an employee retweeted posts about the relatively low attendance at Trump's inauguration, and about how the issues of climate change and civil rights had disappeared from the White House website.

The department has since resumed tweeting.
