Default "Get-Up" advertising in major newspapers in support of WL

Internet-based activist group GetUp! will advertise in major newspapers in Australia and the US calling for fair treatment for WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange.
GetUp, which claims 400,000 members, is inviting Australians to sign on to a statement about Mr Assange, who is under arrest in Britain and facing sex charges in Sweden.

The ad will run in The Washington Post and The New York Times. The campaign will advertise in Australian newspapers according to the level of support it receives.

"GetUp is inviting Australians to sign on to the statement before it's printed in newspaper ads early next week.

Mr McLean said the grassroots campaigning organisation's members were shocked that Prime Minister Julia Gillard pre-emptively judged the activities of WikiLeaks as illegal, without charge or trial, and had not offered Mr Assange, an Australian citizen, more support and protection

Good for you Aussies! It will be pretty difficult for the most rabid Tea Party activist and jingoist in the US to hate-vibe and pooh-pooh Australia, one of the US MAJOR trading partners and allies. GOOD FOR YOU!!
