Cool The SOLAR CELL, TRANSPARENT AS GLASS, would sure help living Off the Grid.

TEXT OF THE VIDEO: " Prof. Richard Lunt of the Michigan State University and his team developed a completely new solar cell. This cell is transparent like glass and uses a much broader spectrum of light than common solar cells. With this technology in the near future it will be possible to charge mobile devices or vehicles. More over with transparent solar cells we could use buildings like skyscrapers to harvest energy.
Prof. Richard Lunt (Assistant Professor of Chemical Engineering & Materials Science and Physics Michigan State University). "

And "they" were trying to do something about all the people getting out of the big cities and
trying different things to live "Off the Grid". Governments are actually making it "illegal"
not to be connected to the Electric grid, water and sewer, etc. they can´t stand people
    freeing themselves.

Another useful thread Ines. Solar is getting cheaper and more effective, and there are many advancements coming. I like watching future technology, but I have a guideline that in the energy field, I only talk about products that are currently on sale. It's amazing what you can find if you look. For example, hand cranked radios and light are a novelty to us, but a Godsend to someone who uses Kerosene all day.

Homemade solar panels (difficult to hook to the grid, but they show what ingenuity can do):
