This is interesting I'm actually trying to find a UFO vid from an article
on Mojo's thread and as often happens others topics come up in the
U tube links that send me off on another direction and today suddenly
came up some vids about Tardigrades and this was probably the inspiration
of the Discovery spor drive story as they have been taken into space by NASA.

Tardigrades are awesome! They can survive in extreme weather and even
breed in space, but what else do we know about these mysterious creatures?

Every incarnation of TREK, including the original, did its best to keep up with known science of the time & extrapolate from that. DISCOVERY appears very much to be following suit, (which explains the Tardigrade, spore drive & much more advanced look of the ships & devices. Let's be honest, the technology depicted in TOS was incredible & futuristic for the 1960's, but some of it would be very ummm "quaint" now, and we're only into 2017!

I have been watching it. Really enjoy it. The style and feel. Vulcan aspects etc. Character development. Feels a bit of a Dark Matter seriousness in there. The recent episode was all about a time paradox. Exactly how i feel about this reality on Earth. Andrew Bartzis who i operate with talks about us being in the 5th paradox now. It was also very interesting as your feelings towards someone was a breaker through the loop. And, their is a guy who had a modification and expressed himself as multidimensional. I think it is a pretty short run this season...so hoping they continue it for sure.

I may have missed the team meeting! - I read at some point the current series will take a wee break midway through @ #9 (more or less over Xmas) & continue early into next year.

Good news to hear it's been picked up for a second season! (... and I think some Trek purists are aiming their phasers at me now!

I had couple minor qualms with the "space whale" on the time loop episode - but I can be quite pedantic at times

I imagine such a creature would be destroyed, crushed, under Earth's gravity - the ship would have had to beam it into a containment field devoid of the gravity generator effect on the ship. Also it's main mode of transportation would likely have been "sailing" on cosmic/solar waves. I would have expected more "sail-like" flippers as opposed to the "paddle-like" flippers the creature had.

Sorry for being such a nerd on this. Fictional creature development is one of my old nerdy pastimes

Episode 8 part 1 "Si Vis Pacem, Para Bellum"

I enjoyed this episode the picture quality is still
very good the battle scene at the beginning and
the planet was convincing. I like how the character's
interacted with the captain on the bridge during the
fight scene with the Klingons and the general
    character building in general......

Could it still be possible that Ash is Voq?

A few things that keeps making me wonder about this, considering it seems not too likely anymore, is Ash's reactions to certain things - subtle, but possible telling ... my most noted one is Ash's staring at disbelief and almost looking shocked, yet impressed at Lorca telling him how he blew up his previous ship to save the crew from Klingon capture ... A klingon would definitely be impressed by that and consider it a very "honourable" thing to do. There's been a few reactions from Ash along these lines that makes me think it's not impossible, and that they are giving a few very subtle hints ... Ash's facial expressions on hearing certain things ...

One other thing is Voq's absence from all the shows, and now from this episode, L'Rell is shown to highly desire to get on Discovery as well -- perhaps to check in with how Voq is doing? Could be all wrong .. but I am a litytle puzzled by some of Ash's unique reactions to certain info that is revealed to him, and the fact that he's very tall and "fights like a klingon". If it is him, will he eventually end up with Stockholm's syndrome and be a key factor in assisting Starfleet in the war? ... or ... maybe he desires to eventually take Discovery and try to avenge the other klingon arsehole who is now running the war for his own benefit (can't remember his name). L'Rell seems she's of similar mindset in that regard??

At any rate ... never trust a klingon at war ...

EDIT: Update ... I checked some info and it seems that Voq is not a character listed for any episode past se1:ep3 -- either he is just gone from the series completely (seems a bit odd) ... or won't be appearing as Voq anytime soon in the series ...

One more addition: One episode left until Christmas break Resumes January I believe ...

I agree with all your thoughts and it is an on going game now to catch him out.
When he is talking to Burnham about after the war going to lake Shasta was that a
real memory ? or transplanted from the real Ash that were used to create Voq's
human persona ? and how deep is his transfer ? Could it be he does not realise
he was Klingon until he is triggered in some way ? A Manchurian candidate.

This was a pretty good first half finally as they take a break
till January when it looks like they are in a parallel universe
or mirror as has been used in all the other series.....I enjoyed
this episode and probably the best so far ?

Ash/Voq looks more likely after this ?.......

This last episode blew us away, very entertaining. I didn't like the ending how they left the captain in the torture room while continuing on with their romance, but the rest of it was good! My favorite part was Tilly as the Mirror Universe captain.
There's no time like the present.
