The Shannara Chronicles, some intresting points.

I have just finished watching 'The Shannara Chronicles' (Netflix) this is a very well made fantasy/sword/sorcery series based on the novels of Terry Brooks.


Very well worth watching just on it's merits as a sword/sorcery/fantasy series, but!

What makes this a far deeper story line is the whole plot is based thousands of years after we have gone. Set as future fantasy-timeline. (Most sword/sorcery timelines are based thousand of year before our time!)

So this series makes it clear that the magical, mystical times of fantasy, and it's variety of strange beings are the descendants of us!

It is very interesting to see the different types of beings: Elf, Troll, Dwarf etc. all portrayed with the characteristics we have come to now, as prehistory, but here they are post history

Quite strange to see Elf's and Trolls running around in a landscape of our ruins, complete with old very rusty trucks and buildings.

Hints of transhumanism, spiritualism, and animal paths of continuation (Evolution-Devolution)

Sorry for the badly written post, hope you get my points of observation.

The Shannara Chronicles give it a viewing

PS the negative versions of the demons (Not all demons (Djinns) are negative as portrayed by MSM) are quite gritty and more as I would believe them to be.

We the humans in the first series are portraed as the Rovers.
We dont have much respect for life but much for material wealth.
The Elf's seem like a more spitual evolution of us and have very refined cultures.
Trolls are like the mutated evolution of us complete with deformities and heve had to incorprate tech/devices into their day to day health.

So these mystical beings rather than thinking of them as something unconected in our prehistory, they are portrayed in Shannara-chronicles as future posabilities of us!

This view point is very refresing and fits in with Alt-view time-lines of our future/s
