Senators unveil anti-WikiLeaks bill

Sens. John Ensign (R-Nev.), Joe Lieberman (I-Conn.) and Scott Brown (R-Mass.) introduced a bill Thursday aimed at stopping WikiLeaks by making it illegal to publish the names of military or intelligence community informants.

Ensign accused WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange and his "cronies" of hindering America's war efforts and creating a "hit list" for U.S. enemies by outing intelligence sources.

“Our sources are bravely risking their lives when they stand up against the tyranny of al Qaeda, the Taliban and murderous regimes, and I simply will not stand idly by as they become death targets because of Julian Assange," Ensign said. "Let me be very clear, WikiLeaks is not a whistleblower website and Assange is not a journalist.”

Assange has been under fire in recent weeks thanks to his site's dissemination of thousands of classified diplomatic cables, some of which have proved embarrassing to the Obama administration because of their frank tone. Attorney General Eric Holder recently pledged to close gaps in the law that allow sites like WikiLeaks to continue to operate.

The Securing Human Intelligence and Enforcing Lawful Dissemination Act (SHIELD) would give the government the flexibility to pursue Assange for allegedly outing confidential U.S. informants. Brown said the law would prevent anyone from compromising national security in a similar manner, while Lieberman said its passage was essential to restore the international diplomatic community's faith in the U.S.

Securing Human Intelligence and Enforcing Lawful Dissemination Act (SHIELD), was an interesting read, I had to read it a few times to try and understand which bits had been swapped or changed for other bits.... Still confusing for me.
Do I understand this correctly that, " any mechanical or electrical device or method used for the purpose of disguising or concealing the contents, significance, or meanings of communications ", means any data encryted by anyone and not just disclosing of millitary documents?

I read it that we are no longer allowed to pass our own encrypted files to anyone, pgp encrypted or whatever cipher chosen??

Can someone advise me on this please.

they are attempting to present him with a court order making it illegal for him NOT to provide them with the encryption key

If it is true that they are trying to pass a bill making it illegal for Assange not to provide them with an encrypton key then the bill is in effect an Ex Post Facto law, i.e. trying to put in place a law that would make actions committed in the past a crime. This is one of the grievances that the US Founding Fathers had against the Crown and was part of the reason the Revolutionary War was fought. But then - what the hell, as Bush II ostensibly said the Constitution is just a f*****g piece of paper - and this same Congress just allowed itself to be blackmailed out of $23 trillion dollars by the banksters two years ago - what do they care about something as petty as the Constitution and Rule of Law???!!

WikiLeaks Set To Reveal US-UFO War In Southern Ocean

A new report circulating in the Kremlin today prepared for President Medvedev by Russian Space Forces (VKS) 45th Division of Space Control says that an upcoming WikiLeaks release of secret US cables details that the Americans have been “engaged” since 2004 in a “war” against UFO’s based on or near the Continent of Antarctica, particularly the Southern Ocean.
