October 2016...Hurricane Matthew & Much More?

Hello Everyone!

Following the wicked September 2016, "9 year Sept", which dealt the Western Pacific, including Taiwan and China, massive typhoons back to back, October has now brought the other side of the world a huge menace: MATTHEW, the Hurricane heading for the Bahamas, Florida and the Eastern US for the major risk period of concern coming next. Tropical activity shifted to the Atlantic after the typhoons of September, and in fact Matthew himself formed back on September 27 and achieved Category 5 intensity briefly on September 30th before enlarging and maintaining Category 4 intensity all through late Tuesday, October 4, as I write this. This monster storm has already impacted Haiti with eastern Cuba in its sight. This storm has the potential to be historic in many ways, so much of the predictions concerning October 5-10 are mainly focused on what Matthew could bring. With so much potential hurricane fuel across the western Atlantic and Caribbean, the fact that Numerology 'number 9' years like 2016 tend to be big hurricane years, as well as big typhoon & cyclone years, we will probably see more significant storms after Matthew as we head deeper into October, and perhaps November. I myself am in the path of Hurricane Matthew and have been preparing for it, haven't had the chance to post these predictions any sooner than today. Hopefully things work out for the better, but keep watch if you're in the storm's path! here is the Rat's scoop on what October could continue bringing:

October 5-10

Most Likely Scenario: Major Hurricane Matthew could wreak havoc on Haiti, Cuba, The Bahamas, Southeast and Eastern US, likely causing major damage and could be responsible for also provoking Scenario 2 (floods) and scenario 3 (tornadoes/ severe weather). This storm is currently a Category 4 hurricane and has managed to evade the mountainous terrain of both Haiti and Cuba while passing the ocean region between the two island nations, meaning that Matthew will remain strong and possibly even get stronger as it begins its rampage over the Bahamas, tomorrow, October 5. This is also the beginning of a very intense 6-day risk period that's perfectly ripe for a hurricane/storm disaster, and the peak dates of this period are October 7-8, the very dates that Matthew is projected to impact Florida and the Southeast US. My take on this is that everyone in the storm's path should be prepared for the worst case scenario considering these dates are no joke (35% risk days, Code red-orange). The "9" Energy carried over from September and set the stage for this to happen, I believe. Meteorologically speaking now, the extremely warm ocean temperatures and super favorable atmospheric conditions around the Bahamas, will help Matthew remain a very powerful hurricane which may not drop below Category 3 up until it strikes land somewhere along the US southeast coast. In fact, this storm's path might take it parallel to Florida and curve up into the Carolinas and perhaps have him go further north into New England!...following the sequence of dates perfectly from 10/5 in the Bahamas up to New England by 10/9-10/10. Haiti could suffer tremendous, catastrophic floods from the rains that will continue falling there even after Matthew departs over the next 2 days...their flood disaster might just be beginning. Judging from what I know of weather and how ominous these dates look, I can say Matthew is the manifestation of this intense risk period and thus gets 1st place Scenario. It is likely we will have a Category 4 hurricane rake the Bahamas and come uncomfortably close to Florida at that intensity before striking or coming near the Carolina coasts as a Category 3. Stronger than this is not out of the question folks, pay close attention to weather news in the hours and days ahead. Impacts from this should be severe for many. While Matthew is taking the spotlight this time period, it is not out of the question we could see another Typhoon form and hit land during this time in the West Pacific.

2nd Likely Scenario: A Major Flooding Event or Disaster could happen during this time frame as well, most likely caused by Hurricane Matthew mentioned in Scenario 1, or caused by severe thunderstorms mainly in parts of the Northern Hemisphere and Australia/ South America. Other world areas also have a flood threat later this month, especially in the West Pacific once typhoon activity resumes. Watch the weather closely during this time if your region is under the gun for flooding rains or tropical storms/ hurricanes or typhoons. Haiti, Cuba and The US East Coast are particularly at risk this period. Mexico & Central America may also be a big flood watch area, especially if another Hurricane or Tropical Storm plows into the area later this month.

3rd Possible Scenario: A Severe Weather/ Tornado Event could also be in store during this time. This event, or events, could be a result of an early fall storm system, which may spark strong thunderstorms capable of producing damaging wind, floods, hail and even some tornadoes in parts of middle-latitude areas of the northern hemisphere, like the North-Central & North-Eastern U.S. and Western Europe, Northern Asia. The main disasters to watch out for during this potential Severe Weather scenario will be again Damaging Winds, Hail, Flash Floods and even Isolated Tornadoes. Of important note, considering the high probability of seeing Hurricane Matthew making landfall during this period, look out for tornadoes in areas near where the hurricane makes landfall, because the storm's rotating rain bands are well known for sparking damaging twisters away from the storm's center. This happened with many storms in years past, such as 2004's Hurricane Ivan and its 100+ tornadoes along the Gulf Coast. these type of twisters would be an issue for Florida north to Virginia, and perhaps further north into New England later on.

4th Possible Scenario: A Major Earthquake could occur during this time period as well, especially during October 5, and October 8-10... possibly attaining Magnitude 7.0 - 8.0 and causing severe impacts. This quake scenario is still worth mentioning even though the weather scenarios appear much likelier this time, because if it were to occur, it could be particularly damaging and a small to medium sized Tsunami cannot be ruled out if the epicenter is at sea or near the coast. Watch the world's major earthquake zones and areas recently seeing earthquake activity closely, just in case.

High Risk: The chance for any of these natural disaster scenarios to strike during this major risk period is 35 percent, with a 25 percent risk that the event will have severe impacts.

October 15-30

Most Likely Scenario: One or More Major Hurricanes /Typhoons, or Tropical Cyclones could develop and wreak havoc on several parts of the northern hemisphere this month, likely causing major damage and could be responsible for also provoking Scenario 2 (floods) and scenario 4 (tornadoes/ severe weather). Things will continue to remain favorable for more tropical storms and hurricanes/ typhoons to form during the 2nd half of October. Keep a very close eye on the tropics later this month to see whether a threat materializes and to see where it could go. Both major typhoons and hurricanes are equally likely during this time period, so watch the West Pacific (including China and the Philippines) and Western Atlantic, Caribbean/ Gulf of Mexico the closest. The Eastern Pacific's hurricanes could curve into Mexico if they were to develop during these dates as well. The busy part of hurricane/ typhoon season should continue through October's end. Even cyclones in the Bay of Bengal are possible as we end the month, being a possible threat to India and Bangladesh.

2nd Likely Scenario: A Major Flooding Event or Disaster could happen during this time frame as well, most likely caused by the tropical storm activity mentioned in Scenario 1, or caused by severe thunderstorms mainly in parts of the Northern Hemisphere and Australia/ South America. There is great potential for long-duration floods and river flood disasters during this powerful, two-week long risk period. Tropical storm activity will likely be the #1 cause of this scenario this month.

3rd Possible Scenario: A Major Earthquake scenario becomes a bit more likely as we enter the 2nd half of October, most likely to occur during October 15-18, October 21, and October 25-28... possibly attaining Magnitude 7.0 - 8.0 and causing severe impacts. The quake event possible this month could be particularly damaging and a small to medium sized Tsunami cannot be ruled out if the epicenter is at sea or near the coast. Watch the earthquake zones and areas recently seeing earthquake activity closely, just in case to be safe.

4th Possible Scenario: A series of Severe Weather Events could also be in store during this time. This event, or events, could be a result of powerful Autumnal storm systems, which may spark strong thunderstorms capable of producing damaging wind, floods, hail and even some tornadoes in parts of middle-latitude areas of the northern hemisphere, like the North-Central & North-Eastern U.S. and Western Europe, Northern Asia. The main disasters to watch out for during this potential Severe Weather scenario will be again Damaging Winds, Hail, Flash Floods and even Isolated Tornadoes. Of important note, considering the probability of seeing another hurricane or tropical storm landfall during this period, look out for tornadoes in areas where a hurricane/ tropical storm makes landfall, because the storm's rain bands are well known for sparking damaging twisters away from the storm's center. Watch any world areas predicted to see tropical storm/ hurricane strikes or heavy Autumn storms prior to or during these dates.

High Risk: The chance for any of these natural disaster scenarios to strike during this major risk period is 35 percent, with a 25 percent risk that the event will have severe impacts.

The Breakdown: Here follows a date-specific look highlighting exactly when we could see what events and scenarios, along with the main areas to watch for each of the possible events:

Tropical Storms, Hurricanes, and Typhoons: October 5-10, October 15-19, October 20-21, October 25-30.

October 2016 could behave like it were the peak season for tropical cyclones in the Northern Hemisphere, and this one could be particularly very eventful considering what we are already seeing unfold with Matthew! Hurricane activity will likely remain very high in the Atlantic, as well as both in the Eastern and Western Pacific, land-threatening typhoons/ hurricanes could be a big issue anytime this month. The Atlantic could witness several storms form, after Matthew, and some could strike land severely during the 2nd half of October. Main Areas to Watch: Locations that should be on the lookout include the US East Coast, Caribbean...Anywhere from Central America north to Cuba, Lesser Antilles, Bahamas, Florida, Carolinas and even to the Northeast must be on watch. Worldwide...this month has been and, could remain, very active and we may see 2 or more additional threats come from either the Gulf of Mexico, Caribbean or Atlantic waters near the eastern Caribbean Islands., or on the Pacific side of Earth...the West Pacific, Central and East Pacific (Philippines, Taiwan, China, Hawaii, Mexico, Central America), which could see increased tropical storm activity. Major typhoons will also be a concern, especially for the Philippines, Taiwan, China and Japan. Cyclones in the Indian Ocean could also occur towards the 2nd part of October.

Floods and Landslides: October 5-10, October 15-30.

This month is highly risky for Flooding and Flash Flooding disasters as well as Landslide events caused by heavy rains, quite possibly resulting from tropical storm activity or major Fall storms in Temperate latitudes of the northern hemisphere. October 2016 could continue the flood threat across several regions impacted in September, and will introduce much more flood potential to regions in the tropics...particularly in the West Atlantic Region. The East Coast of the US and Caribbean must be on high alert this month, considering Hurricane Matthew, and any future systems. Main Areas to Watch: Watch areas experiencing heavy rainfall, tropical storms, or severe weather, especially on or near large river basins and/or near hilly regions. The US Southern States, East US Coast, AND the Pacific region of East and Southeast Asia (Philippines, Taiwan, China & Japan) are at highest risk for this type of disaster, closely followed by Central America, Mexico, Indian Subcontinent and Central Africa in 2nd place, especially if tropical waves and storms affect land in these regions. Thirdly, watch Western Europe in case a major Fall storm system makes it ashore from the east. Also keep a close eye on any other world regions about to experience a major weather event during these upcoming days, since prolonged heavy rains can lead to bad floods and mudslide/ landslides.

Earthquakes: October 5, October 7, October 8-10, October 15, October 17-18, October 19-21, October 22-30.

Earthquake magnitudes are likely to be above M 6.5 on the more earthquake-favoring dates in red and orange, with possibly significant impacts occurring if earthquakes indeed become the manifested events this month. October 2016 appears to have a bit more earthquake potential than September did, so this may be a concern, especially towards the 2nd half of October. We could see a few strong Magnitude 6.0 to 7.0 quakes, and perhaps one or two Magnitude 7.0+ quakes sometime this month, especially during the most intense days of this month. There is some chance that October 2016 could bring a major earthquake, possibly nearing Mag. 8.0. *Important note...all dates mentioned here under 'earthquakes' have the potential for seeing Magnitude 6.0+ quakes, which could all result in some sort of impact. Watch out for a possible tsunami in case one of the quakes surpasses M 7.0 and has the epicenter at sea. Main Areas to Watch: The Mediterranean, including Italy and Greece, especially due to recent severe earthquake activity in August. The Pacific Ring of Fire should also be monitored as usual; mainly along Northeast Asia, Southeast Asia and Indonesia/Polynesia, as well as the western coasts of the Americas, particularly South America this month, and also towards the South Atlantic, which also saw significant quakes in August. Also, watch the Caribbean region, New Zealand and Papua New Guinea, the Middle East, and parts of inland "Eurasia" just in case. Basically, watch any regions experiencing recent strong earthquake activity such as Italy, Myanmar & the South Atlantic.

Severe Weather & Tornadoes: October 5-10, October 15-22, October 23-30.

Severe Weather and a few Tornadoes are still possible event scenarios for this month, particularly in North America, Western Europe and Asia north of 20 degrees north latitude. The North-Central US, Midwestern US, Southern Canada, and Northeast/ Mid-Atlantic US will be particularly at risk for severe storms this month, many of which could have damaging winds and cause flash floods. A few strong tornadoes are still possible this month, especially in areas experiencing the clash between warm & moist air VS cool, dry air along early Autumn cold fronts brought in by storm systems. Further south, the Southeast US will be at risk for tornadoes resulting from rotation dynamics coming from land-impacting tropical storms or hurricanes, including Matthew! Typhoons may have similar effects in China and Japan. Main Areas to Watch: keep eyes primarily on the Central U.S. (including the Gulf States in the south), the Midwestern U.S., Southeast & Northeastern & Mid-Atlantic US in first place. East Asia is in 2nd place for this possible severe weather. Western Europe is the #3 world region to watch, which may see severe weather resulting from decaying hurricanes coming ashore as strong mid-latitude storm systems. Also keep eyes on any other areas experiencing tropical storm/ hurricane landfalls due to tornado threats coming from the storm's rotating rain bands. This month could be fairly active for severe weather and tornadoes, especially with the high risk of tropical storm activity raising the chances.

*The Month's Most Intense Risk Days are: October 7-8, October 17-18, and October 25-28 tied for first place, followed by October 9-10 & October 16 tied for second place. Third place is held by October 19 & October 24.*

The Month at a Glance:

October 2016 could be an active and perhaps historic weather month, especially with Hurricane Matthew affecting the Bahamas, Haiti, Cuba and eventually the US East Coast. There could also be more named storms later this month, and perhaps another major hurricane during the 2nd half of October or possibly even later into November...in the Caribbean. The western Caribbean hasn't been touched by Matthew, and the highest water temperatures are there and could fuel anything that makes it there into a beast! Late October and November tend to see tropical storms form and pass through there, and this region must be watched closely! After Matthew and weaker tropical storm Nicole, it could be that the next monster hurricane in the Atlantic/ Caribbean basin will bear one of the following 5 names: Otto, Paula, Richard, Shary, or Tobias. On the other side of the planet, the West Pacific should remain very active, with more typhoons likely developing later this month and competing with the Atlantic's storms to cause the scenarios slated for October 15-30. Indian Cyclones are a 3rd possibility, mainly in Late October. Strong earthquakes will also become a little more frequent compared to September, and we may see one major quake. Overall, Expect 2 to 4 notable natural disasters this month, of which 1 to 2 could result in major/severe impacts. We may expect 2-3 of the events to be weather-related, likely tropical in nature (Matthew included), and the other 1 event to possibly be an earthquake-related or volcanic event. Hurricanes/ Typhoons, Tropical Storms, Tornadoes and Major Floods are this month's main dangers.

UPDATE...10/6/16 early AM...This one is hitting close to home as they say, gonna be a very rough night for me tomorrow here in the Fort Lauderdale area. Nail-biting times ahead, praying the soon-to-be Category 4 or even 5 Monster Matthew misses us to the east and stays offshore! We will see lots of wind, storm surge and other effects in eastern Florida as Matt heads north towards Jacksonville and potentially Savannah and Charleston. After this the forecast track has undergone a major shift:

Major Shift: Matthew is no longer expected to plow northeast past North Carolina, which originally put the Mid Atlantic and Northeast at risk. Matt is now predicted to come offshore North Carolina and head back southeast and south, possibly looping back towards Florida and Bahamas come 10/10 or possibly later...or eventually head east out to sea. This is good news for those of you up north in the mid atlantic and northeast, but still follow Matt's path just in case weather authorities change his forecast track later on.

Just some rain and wind. Further north however, things are looking very dire, especially from Fort Pierce north thru Savannah Georgia. The winds and storm surge will be the major threats for Friday through Saturday as Monster Matt barrels for the bend between FL and GA.

Good to hear your friend fared OK in Haiti, Matt was so bad in the Tiburon Peninsula!

I'm sorry you are in the middle of a hurricane, FireRat. It might help readers if you didn't mix genuine weather warnings with hysterical numerology, like last month. I live in Taiwan, and posts like this do not help anyone:

Hi sunwings, I saw that extreme forecast warning too, it was about as dire as it could get! Turned out to be less apocalyptic than the weatherman said, but it was very bad still. I think he could've probably conveyed the message in a less frightening way lol, sounds like he got carried away by all the doomsday scenarios that were playing out in the forecast models used. However, the storm has killed people in the Southeast US, and pounded the Carolinas much harder than anticipated with devastating floods. The disaster has been worse in Haiti, where over 800 people have now been confirmed dead.

Thanks again for the kind words Foxie Loxie! We certainly lucked out in the southern part of the State, and mainly the northeastern coastline of FL got smacked by Matt. I feel for the Carolinas, wow have they been inundated in many parts!

Hi Daozen, I see you're in Taiwan and hope you fared well with the triple typhoon siege you guys had there last month. Thanks for sharing your opinion. I see you think Numerology as hysterical and totally understand, it is often a very misunderstood topic considering how many ways this topic is thrown around these days. I usually don't give explanations on numerology, or astrology for that matter, due to the confusion it might stir up...except during the last few months when I found it to be extra significant. I do use these things as part of my way of coming up with the exact dates of my predictions, but may withold the explanations of such things in future posts and simply dish out my thoughts concerning what the Earth may bring each month. The end result is what really matters on here anyway, and hopefully anyone in harm's way can benefit from these predictions by paying closer attention to the environment around them before certain scenarios manifest. Everything else I use to try to educatedly guess what may come relies on past weather history and trying to figure out current earthquake patterns of occurrence and where they could happen next.

Looking ahead, Several meteorologist forum members at storm2k.org are latching on to the possibility that a new tropical storm will form in the Caribbean around October 20...seems very plausible to me. Otto or Paula might be around the corner, so the 2016 Atlantic Hurricane Season may have a few more surprises in store. Here's to hope that nothing remotely close to Matthew happens!
