For what it's worth (and maybe not much, as an unprovable personal opinion! ) -- it's always seemed compelling to me that Planet Earth is someone's giant science experiment. (And, maybe, that of many different races of experimenters, over a span of millions of years)
And why not our own giant science experiment?? Our own soul experiment: how to create while reaally slowing down energy? How to create matter and even get INTO it - while being the source of it. Mostly if we take as a possible paradigm that matter/reality gets to be reality only when it is observed... how to slow down love, how to correct distortions, how to create harmony, etc.

The question of gender actually does come into play in this discussion if you accept the premise that the regressive Reptilians are very patriarchal and suppress the feminine characteristics of nurturing, cooperating (rather than competing) etc., and their inclinations to force their value system on every race that they seek to dominate, especially humanoid races apparently, which seem to tend to be more balanced.
And if the natural tendencies of cosmic energies are to seek balance, that might explain why the regressive Reptilians were drawn here, as they are extremely out of balance.
It may be our mission, whether we chose to accept it or not, to help bring that balance about, or, if that is a "mission impossible" to help facilitate the deconstruction of the regressives.

Gender specificity has to be determined case by case, depending on how many lifetimes were spent as male, and how many female.
A soul born into a female body for the first time after many lifetimes as a male would still retain primarily male characteristics for a long time, more than one lifetime.
    And vice versa.
Which of course, explains why many homosexuals have so much trouble identifying with their bodies' gender.
Some ET races may be naturally androgynous, but I think that androgyny for Earth humans comes after learning the lessons of both genders over many incarnations.
