Imagine the circle being the atmosphere outer limit and the secant or chord the meteoroid trajectory. Half of the trajectory is "descending" whereas the other half is "ascending"... when it gets out of the atmosphere, it's "ascending."

From the video, there is also the apparency of "ascension" due to the meteor coming towards the camera which can compound the effect of ascending if said meteor gets back out of earth's atmosphere.

Green fireballs are a type of unidentified flying object which have been sighted in the sky since the late 1940s.[1] Early sightings primarily occurred in the southwestern United States, particularly in New Mexico.[2][3][4] They were once of notable concern to the US government because they were often clustered around sensitive research and military installations, such as Los Alamos and Sandia National Laboratory, then Sandia base.[2][3][4]

Meteor expert Dr. Lincoln LaPaz headed much of the investigation into the fireballs on behalf of the military. LaPaz's conclusion was that the objects displayed too many anomalous characteristics to be a type of meteor and instead were artificial, perhaps secret Russian spy devices. The green fireballs were seen by many people of high repute including LaPaz, distinguished Los Alamos scientists, Kirtland AFB intelligence officers and Air Command Defense personnel.[5] A February 1949 Los Alamos conference attended by aforementioned sighters, Project Sign, world-renowned upper atmosphere physicist Dr. Joseph Kaplan, H-bomb scientist Dr. Edward Teller, other scientists and military brass concluded, though far from unanimously, that green fireballs were natural phenomena. To the conference attendees, though the green fire ball source was unknown, their existence was unquestioned.[6] Secret conferences were convened at Los Alamos to study the phenomenon[citation needed] and in Washington by the U.S. Air Force Scientific Advisory Board.[2][3][4][7]

In December 1949 Project Twinkle, a network of green fireball observation and photographic stations, was established but never fully implemented. It was discontinued two years later, with the official conclusion that the phenomenon was probably natural in origin.[8]

Green fireballs have been given natural, man-made, and extraterrestrial origins and have become associated with both the Cold War and ufology.[2][3][4] Because of the extensive government paper trail on the phenomenon, many ufologists consider the green fireballs to be among the best documented examples of unidentified flying objects (UFOs).

I saw a green fireball years ago in London; we were walking home from the station & my friend pointed it out. Bizarrely, I just carried on chatting while giving it a cursory glance, which in retrospect was insane, as I was very "into" that sort of thing, & my friend was decidedly not. FWIW. . .

Here's another thought. neither choice seems to fit my possibility... Maybe it's a rocket launch with a second stage ignition that would explain ascending part of this, also the pop brightness could be explained by a second ignition and the exhaust residue still burning behind.

It's a Meteor or a Meteorite, and from the sounds of it we can expect increasing occurrences of them.

The MSM isn't doing much coverage on this, but do a Google search for news near earth objects and you just might be a bit surprised.

Here's an interesting one that was reported incoming for Halloween Eve:

A large space rock came fairly close to Earth on Sunday night. Astronomers knew it wasn't going to hit Earth, thanks in part to a new tool NASA is developing for detecting potentially dangerous asteroids.

UFO or meteorite? Glowing green fireball over Russia has astronomers puzzled
ViralHog Published 7 hrs, 17 mins ago

A glowing green celestial fireball was filmed illuminating the Russian sky and the mystery object has caused speculation and puzzlement among astronomers.

The celestial flash came from the sky in the Siberian republic of Buryatia on October 25 at around 7.30pm (local time).

The head of the Astronomical Observatory at Buryat State University in Ulan-Ude, Liliya Mironova, said the flash was not a meteorite or a comet.

"It is clear that we are talking about some sort of man-made object," Mironova told the Siberian Times.

"Firstly, if it reached the ground, there would be a shock wave, and everybody would have felt it. But it did not reach the ground. This object is very slow."

Another astronomical expert, Sergei Yazev, disagreed and said it was a "space bolide”.

"It was burning in the atmosphere, the green glow was because of the high temperature,” Yazev said.

I chose UFO, but keep in mind, I don't necessarily mean something man made. I just have no idea what it is and neither do many researchers, so UFO for me

Exactly this for me, except I never voted as UFO has become synonymous with piloted craft of unknown origin. My initial take was meteor but after reading that they've been seen since the 40's it kind of becomes UNIDIENTIFIED.

That said, rather surprised at Wikip specifically stating
Quote Early sightings primarily occurred in the southwestern United States, particularly in New Mexico.[2][3][4] They were once of notable concern to the US government because they were often clustered around sensitive research and military installations
, sounds rather like feeding the conspiracists.

Every other week or so, we hear about new fireballs over the skies
of some part of the earth.

This thing is clearly disintegrating and burning up in the atmosphere.
It could be falling space junk... It might be a shooting star.

But... shooting stars normally burn 'white' for a second or two, not
30 to 60 seconds .... this thing was presumably bigger than a pebble.

Statistically we've had so many of these large meteor 'fireballs'
over the skies around russia, USA, China, etc...
that the chance of them happening naturally is literally billions to one.
    (or very, very.. unlikely)

Batch #19 of the Wikileaks emails made mention of the
ongoing 'space war'.... but it didn't specify the combatants.

We know that there is a 'star wars' implemented system for firing
on hostile alien craft with a big laser in Australia.. probably other lasers
elsewhere. (how do they distinguish hostile and non-hostile alien craft ???)

The only elements (i know of) that burn with a green flame... are boron and barium.

    So my guess is:

    (1) This was either a highly unusual meteorite containing boron or barium...
    Or
    (2) This is a fragment of debris from the space war -- it's a piece of someone's UFO.

    My intuition favours (2).

I have to say that I saw a bright white meteor (Think it was oct 30 22:00) It was short lived, I caught sight of it out of the side of my eye to the left, it was very bright.
It was relatively slow compared to most meteors (Most just a slicing flash through the upper sky)

It had very similar looking chunks falling off it and downwards from it's path.

Yup just as I saw the white one.

    Not green but magnesium-white bright.
    Lasted for 1-2 seconds.
I had clear focus on it.

On the way to North Dakota...if memory serves it was in south Dakota on the edge/border to north Dakota with fellow companion Phill who also Witnessed it clearly...we observed a very large very bright Green object go across the sky in front of us as we drove down the road.It was large and lasted much longer than the average bolide or meteor. It was very beautiful and very impressive.I took it as a gift and sighn that the path we were on was blessed....who knows.this was last month on the way to standing rock.

For the sake of accuracy... a meteoroid/asteroid is some piece of rock/matter orbiting in space which turns into a meteor/fire ball/bolide when heated while going through some atmosphere and can, from there, either: completely burn, explode, turn into a meteorite when - hitting the ground - some remains can be found or else escape back to space as a hot meteoroid/asteroid...

Now, as for the increase in occurrence of such phenomena... it appears to show an accelerated growth: Bolides, Comets, Asteroids, Meteors And Falling Skies

my two cents is that is a UFO, the Green glowing may be due to the electromagnetical system of the craft, just like the Green glowing nothern lights, auroras borealis. To me, definetly, is a UFO or a piece of it.

Watching the OP vids again I can say, the white one I saw a few days ago was moving about the same speed. The bits coming of the white one seemed to fall downwards and not just burn out behind it.

Strange thing is that a week ago I was seeing lots of hi altitude objects, like satellites etc. but with subtitle differences that I class as making them UFO's. This week though no hi-alt movement at-all?

That could be a coincidence if you believe in such things as coincidences

my two cents is that is a UFO, the Green glowing may be due to the electromagnetical system of the craft, just like the Green glowing nothern lights, auroras borealis. To me, definetly, is a UFO or a piece of it.
    Much love
Well, since auroras are the results of ionization and meteors eject ionized material from intense, frictional/bombardment heat (vapors and sublimation)... that cannot really be used as a criterion for any distinction excepted that something is burning from their speed interaction with an atmosphere and leaving trails of smoke and ashes. To my knowledge, UFOs are not known to do that...
