Default January 2017 Weather & Earth Predictions

    Happy New Year Folks!

January 2017 is now here, and new natural energies are taking hold of the world as we leave 2016 behind. This looks like it could be a busy one for weather, in particular for winter events, severe storms and even a few cyclones 'down under'. One thing that we may not shake off from 2016 yet is the high threat for major earthquakes...it turns out that this month is loaded with quake risk dates, and we may see continued high seismic activity as we did in Dec and Nov, and this may strike the same areas affected before. In Numerology, 2017 is a "1", and represents the start of a new 9-year cycle meaning that this will be a year of change on a global level, and this change definitely means Earth Changes too. Some of these changes could be dramatic, and this is part of the reason why we may see several natural disasters this month, and throughout 2017 as a whole. For comparison, the last #1 year was 2008, and that one also brought several events around the world, and began with a bang. Well my friends, as usual, here are my predictions for Jan 2017:

    January 3

Most Likely Scenario: A Strong Earthquake could occur during this lone risk date, possibly attaining Magnitude 6.5 - 7.0 and causing moderate impacts. Watch the world's major earthquake zones and areas recently seeing earthquake activity closely, just in case.

2nd Possible Scenario: A Tornado Event could occur on this day, possibly triggered by a strong cold front in the Southern US or in Southern Europe. Severe weather could accompany a strong winter storm to the south.

3rd Possible Scenario: A Flash Flooding Event or Landslide could happen during this time frame as well, most likely caused by the weather event in Scenario 2. This date by itself is fair game for a sudden event, and landslides/mudslides could be an issue on this date.

Moderate Risk: The chance for any of these natural disaster scenarios to strike during this date is 10 percent.

    January 6-9

Most Likely Scenario: A Winter Storm & Severe Weather Outbreak could strike during this time. This event, or events, could be a result of a strong frontal, winter-type, storm system, which may spark strong thunderstorms capable of producing damaging wind, floods, hail and even some tornadoes in parts of middle-latitude areas of the northern hemisphere, like the Central & Southeast U.S. and Western Europe, Central Asia. Some severe weather in parts of the southern hemisphere is also a possibility during this time. In the colder sector of this storm, a major winter weather event may be in store. Currently as of January 2nd, a winter storm is being hinted at by the US national weather service for the southeast US, so regions in the Mid-Atlantic and upper Southeast may see snow during this time. The main natural disaster types to watch out for during this potential Severe Weather scenario will be tornadoes, high winds, flash flooding, and heavy snow in the colder, northern portion of the storm. This potent risk period is perfectly set up for bringing a major winter storm event.

2nd Likely Scenario: A Major Earthquake could occur during this time period as well, possibly attaining Magnitude 7.5 - 8.5 and causing very severe impacts. A medium-large sized Tsunami could be a major issue if the epicenter is at sea or near the coast. December and November's massive earthquakes in Southeast Asia and the South Pacific may point to something massive occurring this month, especially during this period around January 8. Watch the world's major earthquake zones and areas recently seeing earthquake activity closely, just in case.

3rd Possible Scenario: A Major Flooding Event or Disaster could happen during this time frame as well, most likely caused by the storm system predicted in Scenario 1 or Scenario 4. Flash floods, and possibly storm surge, will be the main types of flood events to lookout for. Watch the weather news closely if your area becomes threatened by heavy rains around these dates.

4th Possible Scenario: Major Pacific Cyclone/ Typhoon could also make news in the world's tropics during this time. This very powerful risk period is a fair candidate for yielding a land-striking storm, and as the southern hemisphere's tropical cyclone season is underway, and typhoons a still-possible reality, we may see rapid developments during this time. Major impacts and casualties could be a reality in the worst case scenario.

High Risk: The chance for any of these natural disaster scenarios to strike during this risk period is 40 percent, with a 30 percent risk that the event will have severe impacts.

    January 11

Most Likely Scenario: A Strong Earthquake could occur during this lone risk date, possibly attaining Magnitude 6.5 - 7.0 and causing moderate impacts. Watch the world's major earthquake zones and areas recently seeing earthquake activity closely, just in case.

2nd Possible Scenario: A Tornado Outbreak could occur on this day, possibly triggered by a strong cold front in the Southern US or in Southern Europe. This severe weather event could accompany a strong winter storm to its north, and would most likely yield moderate impacts.

3rd Possible Scenario: A Flash Flooding Event or Landslide could happen during this time frame as well, most likely caused by the weather event in Scenario 2. Like January 3rd, this date by itself is fair game for a sudden event, and landslides/mudslides could be an issue on this date.

Moderate Risk: The chance for any of these natural disaster scenarios to strike during this date is 10 percent.

    January 14-20

Most Likely Scenario: One or Two Major Winter Storms, with a possible Tornado Outbreak could strike during this time. This event, or events, could be a result of a very powerful winter-type storm system, which may spark strong thunderstorms capable of producing damaging wind, floods, hail and even tornadoes in warmer parts of middle-latitude areas of the northern hemisphere, like the South-central U.S., Southern Europe, South-Central Asia. Some severe weather in parts of the southern hemisphere is also a likelihood. This time frame is primed for wild, severe weather that could make the news during what may be a busy 2nd half of January. The main weather concerns to watch out for during this potential Severe Weather scenario will be blizzards, powerful tornadoes, high winds, flash flooding.

2nd Likely Scenario: A Major Flooding Event or Disaster could happen during this time frame as well, most likely caused by the storm system predicted in Scenario 1, or caused by possible tropical storm activity (scenario 4). This long period is set up well for a potential river flood or other long-lasting flooding event. Ice Jams may also be a cause of this potential flood event.

3rd Likely Scenario: A Powerful Earthquake could occur during this period as well, especially during January 14-15, and especially January 20...possibly attaining Magnitude 7.5 - 8.5 and causing severe impacts. Watch for a possible medium to large sized Tsunami if the epicenter is at sea or near the coast. We'll all need to keep close watch on the world's major earthquake zones, and also areas recently seeing earthquake activity! November & December's heightened earthquake activity may have a follow-up event in Late January, especially if not much occurs around January 8.

4th Possible Scenario: Major Cyclone/Typhoon could cause trouble in the Eastern Hemisphere tropics once again during this time, with a higher chance it is either an Australian Cyclone or a Strong Philippine Typhoon. The La Nina global weather pattern we are entering as we begin 2017 could lead to more activity than usual near Australia, and their storm season, which begins peaking late in January, could be amped-up more than usual and this is a prime time frame to see such events in 2017.

High Risk: The chance for any of these natural disaster scenarios to strike during this strong risk period is 35 percent, with a 25 percent risk that the event will have severe impacts.

    January 23-27

(Basically a ditto of January 14-20, with a bit more earthquake & cyclone potential)

2nd Likely Scenario: A Powerful Earthquake could occur during this period as well, especially during January 23, and especially January 25-27...possibly attaining Magnitude 7.5 - 8.5 and causing severe impacts. Watch for a possible medium to large sized Tsunami if the epicenter is at sea or near the coast. We'll all need to keep close watch on the world's major earthquake zones, and also areas recently seeing earthquake activity! November & December's heightened earthquake activity may have a follow-up event in Late January, especially if not much occurs around January 8 or January 20.

3rd Likely Scenario: Major Cyclone/Typhoon could cause trouble in the Eastern Hemisphere tropics yet again, with a higher chance it is either an Australian Cyclone or a Strong Philippine Typhoon. As mentioned earlier, the La Nina global weather pattern we are entering in 2017 could lead to more activity than usual near Australia, and since their storm season begins peaking late in January, we could see cyclone activity get amped-up more than usual during this major risk period. Landfalling cyclones are a real threat this time around.

4th Possible Scenario: A Major Flooding Event or Disaster could also happen during this time frame, most likely caused by the storm system predicted in Scenario 1, or caused by possible tropical storm activity (scenario 3). This scenario drops to 4th place during this shorter period, but is still worth the mention. Ice Jams may also be a cause of this potential flood event.

High Risk: The chance for any of these natural disaster scenarios to strike during this strong risk period is 35 percent, with a 25 percent risk that the event will bring severe impacts.

    January 29

Most Likely Scenario: A Strong Earthquake could occur during this lone risk date, possibly attaining Magnitude 6.5 - 7.0 and causing moderate impacts. This particular event may very well be an aftershock of a stronger quake predicted for Jan 8, Jan 20 or Jan 25-27. Watch the world's major earthquake zones and areas recently seeing earthquake activity closely, just in case.

2nd Possible Scenario: A Tornado Event could occur on this day, possibly triggered by a strong cold front in the Southern US or in Southern Europe. A winter storm carrying over from January 27 may be the cause of this severe weather event in the warm portion of the storm, in the southern end.

3rd Possible Scenario: A Flash Flooding Event or Landslide could happen during this time frame as well, most likely caused by the weather event in Scenario 2. This date by itself is fair game for a sudden event, and landslides/mudslides could also be an issue on this date.

Moderate Risk: The chance for any of these natural disaster scenarios to strike during this date is 15 percent.

The Breakdown: Here follows a simpler listing, showing exactly when we could see certain events during certain dates, along with a list of the main areas to watch for each of the possible events:

    The Month at a Glance:

January 2017 is set to being the new year with a bang, possibly bringing several major natural events and/or disasters to the world. Following a busy December and November for earthquakes, this month could continue bringing powerful quakes to areas already affected in the last 2 months. Winter is in full swing in the northern hemisphere this month, and the dates this month are set up perfectly for having winter-storm related disasters. Overall, Expect an above-normal month for natural disasters in terms of the expected amount and severity, with 2 to 5 notable natural disasters possible this month. Up to 3 events may be weather related and the other 2 events could be Earthquake-related or similar land-based events such as landslides or mudslides. Volcanic eruptions are a smaller threat. January 2017 has strong earthquake potential, aside from winter weather potential, and this quite possibly could make it the 3rd significant earthquake month in a row for Earth.

Well folks, that's how the new month is looking, please stay tuned to your local news if future nasty weather or other events comes your way.

Yeah Gillian, I know it has been a cold one for you guys last month, hopefully the weather improves as we head into Feb and March! Seems the east coast would be likelier to have the cold waves in the coming weeks.
