Default Storyville "Zero Days: Nuclear Cyber Sabotage"

Oh, so I watched Storyville last night on the BBC iPlayer and it's still available for the next month or so if you'd care to view it (but you might have to use a VPN if you're from outside the UK).

Here's the URL : Storyville "Zero Day : Nuclear Cyber Sabotage"

It's a Documentary thriller about warfare in a world without rules - the world of cyberwar. It tells the story of Stuxnet, a self-replicating computer malware, known as a 'worm' for its ability to burrow from computer to computer on its own. In a covert operation, the American and Israeli intelligence agencies allegedly unleashed Stuxnet to destroy a key part of an Iranian nuclear facility. Ultimately the 'worm' spread beyond its intended target.

Zero Day is the most comprehensive account to date of how a clandestine mission opened forever the Pandora's box of cyber warfare. A cautionary tale of technology, politics, unintended consequences, morality, and the dangers of secrecy.

The conclusion it seems to draw is that because so much of Nation-State Cyber Warfare is of a "Covert" nature there cannot be a "Public" discussion / debate over it because no Agency is willing to admit Ownership or Responsibility for what has already been taking place for the last several years.

And even though there have been successful real-world "Intrusions" into "Enemy" Nuclear Infrastructure which have been followed up with successful Cyber "Retaliation", due to the nature of the "Operations" those who are "in the know" cannot talk about it ... the program includes many high ranking "Officials" who openly admit to their knowledge of such activities but are precluded from anything more than a "cursory nod" to their existence because of the Secrecy around such Projects.

Addendum : I have this idea that the Human Race is in need, more and more, of "thinking as a Species" so as to continue our Interdependent Development here on Earth ! No Country exists in Isolation from the rest of the World and perhaps because of the "rise of the Internet" we are now starting to realise how Global Co-Operation is in absolutely ALL our interests eh ?

I would just like to take issue with this tendency of people to highlight 'some'
immense problem, and then attribute responsibility for the immense problem....
    ....to the entire human race.

No, no, no.... that's not right.
The entirety of the human species could not feasibly be to blame, that's just preposterous.
That's just allowing the people who are _really_ responsible to get away with it.

The human race is not to blame for the slaughter of innocents during the invasion of Iraq.
Given a vote most people, most americans, and almost all other people would
not have allowed that slaughter to commence.
The people responsible for that slaughter were the evil feckers behind the neo-con
puppets in america and europe. They lied about the details and the USA went to
war on a pretext. The human race was not to blame.

Similarly, the destruction of the environment due to the burning of fossil fuels, is not
the fault of 'the human race' ... most members of the human race do not want to
see the environment destroyed. There are technologies that would allow for the
cleaner, more efficient, burning of fossil fuels. And there are technologies that allow
for other fuels and energy sources to be utilised. The big and powerful oil companies
make sure we continue to use oil wastefully and destructively ... because that's in
    their private interest.

There are high ranking politicians and military personnel who sit on committees that
take decisions to start cyber warfare 'assaults'. These are the people responsible for
the escalating cyber attacks (not the human race)

If you want to stop 'bad ****' from happening, like pollution, the slaughter of innocents
in Gaza, cyber wars etc. You have to figure out how to make the decision makers liable for the
effects of their actions. So for example, Bush, Cheney, Tony Blair would all need to be
punished for the immense human suffering that resulted in Iraq. Daily solitary
confinement and water boarding might be viewed as appropriate.

We could make the world a much better place if we removed the immunity from prosecution
of the politicians, military men and puppet masters that work strings behind the scenes.
Please help spread the news about pizzagate.

Oh, now I don't know if you are including me in 'people' but my post above is *not* an attempt at 'placing blame' but rather at looking forward to 'improving' Relations ... as well I feel the 'blame game' is merely likely to 'bog down' (sideline) any possible constructive co-operation
