Default Butch Trucks, Legendary Allman Brothers Band Drummer, Dead at Age 69

Any fan of the great Allman Brothers will be saddened by the news of his demise. A great guy by all accounts.

Sad day indeed. Fortunately we still have his amazing, guitar-playing nephew, Derek.

So often I think about the music we'll never hear from the greats who passed too soon. What would Dwayne Allman have done, either singularly or with the band? Clapton laughed once when described as a Guitar God, saying that there were no Gods, just men inspired. But if there was a Guitar God it would have been Allman. Their collaboration on Clapton's Layla is extraordinary. Those soaring notes, the dueling aspect of it, the raw feelings that bleed through. Clapton was madly in love with his good friend's wife and all those feelings came through brilliantly. That album will never get old for me.

Others too. What would Hendrix or Cobain have produced? Such a loss. But their works likely inspired others, so we have that.
