The Purpose of Life

I have been contemplating about life purpose for awhile now. My family recently lost a 37 year old family member in a matter of days, leaving a 3 year old behind. I am trying to grapple with the fact that 1) death is inevitable even for the young and 2) what is our purpose here at all?

Is there a bigger purpose or do we come here to live and die just living the day to day life? I believe in a higher purpose and an after life, but its a hard pill to swallow losing someone young. However, to survive the daily grind is necessary. I think i go back and forth, wanting to understand life, period.

I am very sorry, myriaddimension. For me, it's never easy losing a loved one ... and never gets easier as more and more around me age and pass. Though never easy, in the wake of every loss that I have experienced, I find myself looking deeply inward, looking for the answers about death and the meaning of life. I consider that a huge positive.

I believe my purpose in life is to help others. I may get confused and stumble along the way, but as long as I can keep doing that in some capacity on a daily basis I feel I'm not wasting time and making progress, cognitively or not.

Well, the answer to your question is fairly subjective.

For me, I've gone and dipped my toes into many of the existential pools of thought and came away with one that I've hung onto for a while... It seems to be backed by physics/science (at least partially) so I like it even more.

a quick summary of my view: "we" are everything, splintered into an innumerable number of different perspectives, meant to objectively observe ourselves subjectively.

What is the purpose of life? To "experience" & every experience is valid (even the ones we don't enjoy, or perhaps, ESPECIALLY the ones we don't enjoy).


I too question everything, but see that also as a part of my experience.

Everything we do effects everyone via Epigenetics, Space and time are the exact same thing, we only see them as different due to the nature of our perspective based observation; these concepts are difficult to fully absorb into our understanding of what we call "reality".

I'm 37, I don't even feel like I've lived 1/10th of how long I'm suppose to; I can imagine your shock and grief.. but only that as I have not gone through something similar myself.

I'm sorry for your loss. It hurts. I know.

When I was 20 years old, I feel deeply in love with the man I thought I would spend the rest of my life with. That same year, he was killed in a car crash. I was devastated!

It was this very same horrific incident which set me on my spiritual path. I could not make sense of what had happened so I went on a search to find him wherever he was. And that's a long story which is not for this thread, but I started walking the spiritual path back then and have never stopped.

The spiritual path can be very challenging and full of pitfalls and sometimes, extremely dark.

Life in a physical body, in a 3 dimensional plane is very dense and can be very difficult. As such, to me, the purpose of this kind of life is to find ways to break the shackles of pain and invisible bondage and set oneself free by expanding one's consciousness and regaining sovereignty which was lost eons ago. This is the path I'm on. This is what I'm striving for.

I fully understand that when one has experienced such great loss, it is difficult to see beyond the pain. Time to mourn your loss is important.

In time, may your remember the love known with this person, and let the love be your only memory of their time on earth.

The purpose of life, here on this world, seems to be to serve as food, as subjects for experiment, biological slave stock, and psychological loosh.

It also seems to be to service a break-away society.

Satori comes closest to what is really happening. There is no "purpose" in life. When we fully realize that awareness infused with love is all that is, and we see this, we have realized our potential as humans, removed the veil. Those that get to bask in this Understanding are described as fully awake. From then onward there is no need to find a purpose. All that disappears. What takes its place is a super awareness where everything is conscious, infused with a love, or loving kindness, or compassion that is infinite. The power of this Understanding usually overwhelms a human. It takes time to get used to. Love so powerful that it melts you.

I'm sorry for your loss. Life is fundamentally purposeful. Souls play roles to aid in each other's unfolding, or evolution.

With the inner connection to the Divine, we find our wholeness and immortality...and the answer to everything.

When my best friend from childhood passed, I researched more about Spirit life and the soul's evolution.

Journey of Souls and Destiny of Souls by Michael Newton were very helpful, as well as Life Between Life (Whitton and Fisher) was extremely helpful in explaining the bardo-the inbetween incarnations life of the soul-and the purposeful plans of what would seem unexplainable by normal human perception.

My views have expanded and I understand a lot more now.

You will heal and grow from your experience and subsequent inquiry.

I think the fundamental purpose of this dense reality is to experience "separation" (we are never really separate) from our creator. Nothing here is permanent, therefore its reality is temporary. Believing we are separate causes us to lose our perspective and believe this reality is true.
We are all on a journey to find our way back home, no matter how serendipitous the path may seem. It's a difficult path as the world keeps sucking us back into its density. It can also be depressing at times when we feel we aren't getting anywhere at all.
Physical death is also part of the dance, although is is nothing more than shedding a suit of clothes in the larger scheme of things. Death is nothing more than a transition out of this reality into another one.

Imagine if you could determine for yourself, your purpose? And imagine if this was unique unto yourself?... that each of us has our own special purpose, one that is "living" and ever evolving.

Purpose of life = To find GOD

How?

Although everything is part of GOD there are levels. The lower the level (like earth) the less intense our experience of GOD will be. Your attachment self, and every person, place and thing is a distraction of sorts that vies for your attention and light.

Therefore, we must use our soul and free will to learn to go out-of-the-body beyond the earth, astral, mental, soul planes, etc, in order to find THE GOD.

Anything less than this will result in some type of incompleteness and suffering. None the less there will always be periods of rest and enjoyment for those who sincerely search.

Definitely a subjective question but for me the purpose is to be me and live, here. Who would have thought that could be so challenging? But here I am, still learning to be me here, still learning how to live without feeling lost. At odds with my physical self. Working at harmonising the different levels of my being, pretty much. I had it but didn't know it and didn't value it and so I lost it. Just trying to get the sense of being alive back.

All the words in the world don't help in that final moment f loss, I know, I have also been there. I’m very sorry for you and your family’s loss, myriaddimension. My deep condolences.

Yesterday as I’d attended my dear friend and former yoga student’s memorial ceremony, my thoughts have also been on this topic of life-death, and the purpose of life .
I wanted to offer more of my help to possibly cure my friend’s illnesses, so much that after I’d heard about her decease I blamed myself for not having tried hard enough. As I’ve been meditating and giving prayers to her in the past few weeks my answer was to just accept and forgive what has happened, and to give more prayers of love. At the memorial ceremony I met my friend’s daughter for the first time, and her response to my condolences was “It is as it is.”

Death happens to all of us eventually. Some earlier, some later.
It’s a transition from this physical world to the astral planes.
There’s an illusion of separation between the worlds whereas in reality and in truth, they are all wholly connected as One.
This is why the soul does not mourn nor rejoice when death happens upon it.


In general, the purpose of life is to experience.


From time to time I refer to the Power vs. Force theory by David Hawkins and the grid of the human consciousness levels. It helps me to become more aware of my current consciousness level, and my life’s purpose according to that.

If you are looking for ways to get answers to some questions on a yes-no, true-false format, Kinesiology or muscle test is one method that could work for some people.
From my experience, it’s good to start working on this with another person, and later on practice on self-test as well to find a method that works for you. I use the Akasha Mudra that joins the tips of the thumb and the middle finger.
There’s a lot of information out there on Kinesiology, I'm sure it would be worth your time to do a bit further research if you are interested in this.
