Judges Keep Falsely Saying No Terrorists
Came From Countries Affected By Travel Ban

    By Alex Pfeiffer
    Reporter | 11:17 AM 02/08/2017
Federal judges hearing the case regarding Trump’s travel ban continue to falsely state that no terrorists have come from the nations affected by President Trump’s executive order temporarily barring immigration from seven majority-Muslim nations.

Not only have the judges been incorrect in these statements but the attorneys for the Department of Justice have been unprepared.

In a hearing last week, Judge James Robart, of the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Washington State, asked Justice Department lawyer Michelle Bennett, “Have there been terrorist attacks in the United States by refugees or other immigrants from the seven countries listed, since 9/11?” Bennett was not able to give Robart a response.

The federal judge then said, “Let me tell you. The answer to that is none, as best I can tell.” Robart subsequently issued an order which halted Trump’s executive action nationwide. The Daily Caller, however, reported days before Robart’s ruling that at least 19 alleged terrorists since 2014 have come from the countries affected by Trump’s travel ban. This includes two stabbing attacks that left 21 people wounded. The Washington Examiner reported Monday that at least 60 alleged terrorists came from these countries between Sept. 11, 2001 and 2014.

The Department of Justice and Department of Homeland Security have kept the immigration status of terrorists hidden, and these figures are based off publicly available information. This means the number of terrorists from these nations could be much larger and that the DOJ lawyers arguing the cases should have access to the complete picture.

Robart wasn’t the only judge to spout this fib. On Tuesday, the United States Circuit Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit heard arguments regarding the DOJ’s request for a stay. Judge William Canby asked DOJ attorney August Flentje, “How many federal offenses have we had being committed by people who came with visas from these countries? The answer was there haven’t been any.”

Flentje wasn’t able to firmly tell Canby that he is lying, and instead said, “These proceedings have been moving quite fast and we’re doing the best we can.”

Correction: There have been at least 19 alleged terrorists since 2014.

Did The Judges Lie: New Report Finds 72 Terrorists Came From Countries Covered By Trump Ban

The federal judge who halted President Donald Trump's travel ban was wrong in stating that no one from the seven countries targeted in Trump's order has been arrested for extremism in the United States since the 2001 terrorist attacks. In fact, as a new report finds, 72 individuals from those countries have been convicted of terrorism since 9/11.

Jefferson was not a Democrat in any way. He called himself a republican, in the original sense of the word, while the founding fathers associated Democrats with Jacobins and populists/radical mobs.

Jefferson favored a strict limited interpretation of the Constitution and only sought to maintain the status quo of the aristocratic rule in his home state of Virginia. The Democratic Party didn't even exist until after Jefferson had retired from politics. What we have today is heavily influenced by the political theories of Marxism, which came even later.

Neocon Elliot Abrams for Deputy Secretary of State?
    by Stephen Lendman

    Neocon Elliott Abrams

Trump is considering Elliot Abrams for the department’s number two position – perhaps an especially powerful one, while Rex Tillerson transitions from Big Oil to diplomacy.

Trump's transition advisor, James Carafano, believes Abrams is “pretty close to being named” – best known for his role in the 1980s Iran-Contra affair. It involved covertly selling arms to Iran to fund Contra anti-Sandinista terrorists in Nicaragua. The Boland Amendment prohibited it.

For his role in the scheme, Abrams [faced indictment] for lying to Congress, pled guilty to two lesser offenses of withholding information from Congress to avoid a trial, possible conviction and imprisonment.

On Christmas night 1992, GHW Bush pardoned him and other Iran-Contra defendants – their high crimes forgiven, not forgotten.

In 1998, Abrams and other PNAC members urged “decisive action” to replace Federal Republic of Yugoslavia President Slobodan Milosevic with pro-Western leadership. The nation’s 1999 rape followed, one of many Clinton administration high crimes. [Milosevic was framed by the criminal Clinton regime and its NATO vassals with the complicity of the Western presstitutes fake news service. After his death, Milosevic was found innocent and exonerated by the International Criminal Tribunal. See here and here.

The same year, Abrams was one of 18 PNAC signatories in a letter to Clinton, urging war on Iraq and removal of Saddam Hussein, calling him a “hazard (to) a significant portion of the world’s supply of oil.”

In the GW Bush administration, he was one of its architects. He drafted a proposal for seizing Iraq’s oil fields. The US installed puppet regime maintained control.

During Reagan’s two terms, Abrams held three State Department positions, including Assistant secretary for Inter-American Affairs from July 17, 1985 – January 20, 1989.

He later served as GW Bush’s Deputy Assistant to the President and Deputy National Security Advisor, supervising White House Middle East policy.

He was instrumental in the aborted two-day coup attempt to replace Venezuela’s Hugo Chavez with puppet leadership serving US interests.

In 2007, he was part of a black operation to destabilize Iran, using disinformation and manipulation of its currency, aiming for regime change.

He was a Project for the New American Century (PNAC) signatory (now called the Foreign Policy Initiative), established in 1997, comprised of neocon extremists, dedicated to seeking US global dominance through endless wars of aggression.

He’s currently connected to the neocon American Enterprise Institute (AEI), the Heritage Foundation, the Council on Foreign Relations, and various other hardline groups.

He’s a notorious Zionist zealot, opposed to sympathies toward Palestinians, fundamentally against Israeli concessions to achieve conflict resolution.

He’s interventionist, pro-endless wars of aggression, advocating nation-building, what Trump said he opposes.

If appointed State’s number two, will neocon foreign policy continue unabated? Will endless imperial wars rage?

Will confrontation with China and Iran follow, risking possible nuclear war? Will hope for improved relations with Russia be dashed? Will Congress prevent it anyway?

Will dirty business as usual remain unchanged, especially US imperial madness, or will Trump manage to go another way?

America needs more peacemakers, fewer warriors. It’s not the way things usually work out.

Mr. Trump overruled his newly minted secretary of state, Rex W. Tillerson, and rejected the secretary’s choice for his deputy at the department, two people briefed on the decision said Friday.

The deputy’s job was denied for Elliott Abrams, a conservative who had served under President Ronald Reagan and President George W. Bush, deals a blow to Mr. Tillerson in his first week on the job. The rejection of Mr. Abrams leaves Mr. Tillerson without a sherpa to help guide the first-time government official around the State Department headquarters.

    Trump gave Abrams the boot.

Quote Trump Passes on Elliott Abrams for State Dept., Throwing Open Selection Process
The White House continues its search for an experienced hand after the president rejected a controversial neoconservative.
President Donald Trump is no longer considering Elliott Abrams to fill the State Department’s No. 2 slot due to critical comments the former Bush administration official made of Trump during the campaign, GOP aides said.

The turnabout, first reported by CNN, creates a surprise shakeup in a selection process for a deputy who is seen as key in providing a steady hand to Secretary of State Rex Tillerson, an ex-CEO who lacks Washington experience and whose foreign policy credentials are thinner than many of his predecessors.

It also underscores Trump’s reluctance to bring into the fold GOP establishment figures who criticized his candidacy during the presidential race, despite their willingness to serve in his administration or the expertise they may provide.

Trump so far hasn’t tapped for key administration posts any of the more than 150 Republicans national-security professionals who signed onto so-called “Never Trump” letters during the campaign.

With Abrams out, the field is now reopened to previously-rumored candidates such as Paula Dobrianksy, a former Bush administration official, and Richard Haas, president of the Council on Foreign Relations. Jim Jeffrey, who served as deputy national security adviser under President George W. Bush, was also under consideration.

Abrams, a controversial figure given his enthusiastic support for the Iraq War and involvement in the Iran-Contra affair, had nevertheless won the blessing of Tillerson and even some Senate Democrats given his deep knowledge of the State Department apparatus. (Abrams was convicted, and later pardoned, for withholding evidence from Congress during the Iran-Contra affair. He also supported repressive governments in Central America.)

Tillerson, the former CEO of ExxonMobil, entered Foggy Bottom with no previous government experience. And given the forced departure of key management personnel at the State Department such as Under Secretary of Management Pat Kennedy, Republicans have urged the president to select a deputy with broad knowledge of the building.

That could have been Abrams, who had also reportedly earned the support of Trump’s chief of staff Reince Priebus. However, a GOP Senate aide noted that Abrams broke the golden rule.

“Outspoken critics of Trump and the ‘Never Trump’ crowd of the Republican party need not apply,” the aide told Foreign Policy.

Abrams did not sign two prominent “Never Trump” letters that have set back the careers of several national security Republicans now eager to enter the administration. However, he did harshly criticize Trump prominently in a May 2016 op-ed in the neoconservative magazine The Weekly Standard in which he declared that Republicans have “nominated someone who cannot win and should not be the president of the United States.”

Asked by FP on Friday if he regretted making those remarks, Abrams said he “won’t be commenting at all.”

Abrams’s fall from grace was mourned by fellow neoconservatives, such as Eliot Cohen, a former Bush administration official who called the snub a “deliberate humiliation.” Others noted that Abrams didn’t have an unblemished public record going into the selection process. “These are dark days when the foreign policy community’s best hopes — now dashed, yet again — were pinned on a convicted perjurer,” tweeted Andrew Exum, a former Obama administration official.

Republicans still enjoy a bench of foreign policy professionals with knowledge of the State Department, but there is no clear frontrunner for the position. According to State Department sources, the Trump administration is considering Beth Jones, a former acting assistant secretary for Near East Affairs, for the No. 3 position in the building, under secretary of state for political affairs. Jones, who remains somewhat controversial in Republican circles for serving during the 2012 terrorist attack in Benghazi, also brings extensive knowledge of State Department operations, according to sources

    Assad Dismisses Report on
Mass Hangings in Syria as ‘Fake News’

    by Edwin Mora
    10 Feb 2017
Syrian dictator Bashar al-Assad has denounced as “fake news” a report by human rights watchdog Amnesty International highlighting depraved atrocities his regime allegedly authorized, including “mass hangings” and torture of prisoners.

However, Amnesty International is not the only organization that has decried Assad for human rights violations and war crimes.

Since the civil war started in Syria, governments, the United Nations, NGOs, and the media have condemned Assad’s record on freedom and human rights.

The recently issued Amnesty International report — rebuked by Assad as “fake news” in an exclusive interview with Yahoo News — highlights “the Syrian government’s calculated campaign of extrajudicial executions by mass hangings at Saydnaya Prison.”

According to the report, “Between 2011 and 2015, every week and often twice a week, groups of up to 50 people were taken out of their prison cells and hanged to death. In five years, as many as 13,000 people, most of them civilians believed to be opposed to the government, were hanged in secret at Saydnaya.”

Titled “Human Slaughterhouse: Mass Hangings and Extermination at Saydnaya Prison,” the report notes that Assad has been “deliberately inflicting inhuman conditions on detainees at Saydnaya Prison through repeated torture and the systematic deprivation of food, water, medicine and medical care.”

“The report documents how these extermination policies have killed massive numbers of detainees,” it adds.

Amnesty International accuses the Assad regime of extrajudicial executions and “sadistic” torture and inhuman treatment at the Saydnaya Prison.

In total, more than 30,000 have died in prisons across Syria as a result of the inhumane conditions and torture since the Syrian civil war began in 2011, reports the human rights watchdog group.

The report describes the Syrian government practices inside its prisons as war crimes and crimes against a humanity authorized at the highest level of the Assad regime.

Human rights violations and war crimes by the Assad regime have been a recurring theme in the Syrian civil war.

In October 2016, the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights Zeid Ra’ad al-Hussein referred to the siege and bombing of Aleppo by Russia and Iran-backed Syrian forces as “crimes of historic proportions” and described the besieged city as a “slaughterhouse.”

The U.N. human rights chief urged the International Criminal Court to prosecute the Syrian government.

In the city of Aleppo alone, the Syrian government reportedly committed various human rights violations, including civilian casualties, interference with the delivery of humanitarian aid, and interference with efforts to evacuate civilians from the city.

Aleppo had been at the epicenter of the Syrian conflict until it fell into the hands of the Assad regime late last year,

The Syrian Network for Human Rights (SNHR) has documented thousands of arbitrary arrests cases in the course of the ongoing war in Syria, including 11,953 in 2015 and 10,047 last year.

“SNHR possesses lists of more than 117,000 detainees, including children and women, [and] it should be noted that we estimate that the actual number of detainees [has] exceeded 215,000; 99% of them are being detained mainly by Syrian regime forces,” notes the human rights group.

Moreover, the Assad regime has used chemical weapons against its enemies and civilians in violation of international law and U.N. resolutions.

In November 2016, activists accused Assad of dropping chlorine-filled barrel bombs in a district in Aleppo, reported Sky News.

An investigation by the U.N. and an international chemical weapons watchdog revealed at the time that the Syrian regime had dropped chlorine bombs in at least three attacks over the past two years.

The U.K.-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, which uses a network of ground sources to monitor the Syrian conflict, has also documented abuses by the Syrian government throughout the ongoing civil war.

In July 2015, the Observatory reported “more than 1,000 children” had been killed “in airstrikes carried out by the Syrian government in the ongoing civil war,” adding that the “4,879 civilians in total” had “died in aerial bombardments by [regime] warplanes and helicopters.”

Human Rights Watch, Amnesty International, and other human rights advocates have accused dictator Assad of violations since the Syrian war started in 2011.

Various human rights organizations and press freedom groups have also documented the Assad regime’s execution of many journalists throughout the war. Syria is considered one of the top most dangerous countries for media personnel.

Last year alone, SNHR reported that the Syrian regime killed 41 “media activists who died due to torture.”

JW Files Suit For ‘Refugee Travel Loans’ Information

Tightening our immigration and refugee programs is a matter of national security (despite what some out-of-control judges may think), and it is also a matter of cost.

In this regard, we have filed a lawsuit against the State Department for records on the number of “Refugee Travel Loans” issued by State’s Bureau for Population, Refugees, and Migration to the United Nation’s International Organization for Migration from 2010 to the present.

We are also seeking the number of loans defaulted upon and the amount of money written off on each defaulted loan. We filed the suit on January 24, 2017, in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia (Judicial Watch v. U.S. Department of State (No. 1:17-cv-00157)).

Judicial Watch filed the suit after the State Department failed to respond to a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request on February 5, 2016, seeking the following:
    • All records reflecting the number of Refugee Travel Loans furnished by the State Department’s Bureau for Population, Refugees, and Migration (PRM) to the International Organization for Migration (IOM) per year; the number of travel loans that are defaulted upon per year; and the amount of money written off per defaulted loan.
The Bureau of Population, Refugees, and Migration provides funding for aid and relief work abroad and the bureau’s admissions office handles settling refugees in the United States. According to the agency’s website, it spent nearly $545 millionto provide new beginnings to the world’s most vulnerable refugees” in 2016 and more than $2.8 billion to “humanitarian assistance overseas.” It provided $103 million directly to the UN’s International Organization for Migration.

The International Organization for Migration, headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland, has an annual budget of $1.4 billion and (as of 2014) a staff of 9,000 throughout the world. According to the International Organization for Migration website, the organization provides interest-free loans “furnished by the Department of State” to “all refugees arriving in the United States:”
All refugees arriving in the United States are offered interest-free travel loans by IOM. Refugees who accept these travel loans are required to sign a promissory note prior to departure, committing themselves to repayment of the debt within 46 months after arrival in the United States.

IOM arranges for refugee travel using funds furnished by the Department of State, and is mandated to subsequently effect collections on behalf of the Department of State. Repayments made by refugees toward their loans are returned to the Department of State for use by the Bureau of Population, Refugees, and Migration (PRM) to defray the cost of future refugee travel.

In July 2016, the United Nations General Assembly unanimously adopted a resolution making the International Organization for Migration part of the UN.
Even The Washington Post reported that the nine resettlement agencies contracted by the State Department to help resettle refugees in the U.S. actually make more than $5 million a year in commissions on refugee debt collection.

The State Department has stonewalled our request for refugee loan information and associated taxpayer losses for a year – an unlawful delay that screams cover up.” This is an opportunity for the Trump State Department to come clean and clean up this refugee welfare program.

And there’s a lot more for the Trump administration to clean up when it comes to “refugee loans.” In June 2016, Judicial Watch reported:
The U.S. government gives refugees on public assistance special “loans” of up to $15,000 to start a business but fails to keep track of defaults that could translate into huge losses for American taxpayers, records obtained by Judicial Watch reveal. The cash is distributed through a program called Microenterprise Development run by the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Office of Refugee Resettlement.

    ***

HHS is not the only government agency doling out huge sums of cash for this cause, though its focus on refugees appears to be unique. Others, such as the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) and the Department of Labor (DOL) also dedicate hundreds of millions of dollars to various microenterprise causes. For instance, in one recent year alone USAID spent $223 million on microenterprise development activities, according to figures released by the agency. The USDA also allocates large sums to provide loans and grants to microenterprise development through a special “Rural Microloan Revolving Fund” and the DOL regularly pours lots of money into various microenterprise projects that are promoted as workforce investments in areas with high rates of poverty.
So the debate about refugees is more than about keeping dangerous refugees out, but there is also the matter of asking just how much it costs to make politicians to feel good about themselves by using our tax dollars to provide special assistance to these foreign nationals.

Mexican Drug Cartel Operating in U.S. Suburb More than 1,500 Miles from Border

President Donald Trump made it clear during his campaign that one of the reasons for building a wall along the Mexican border is to disrupt the flow of heroin into the United States. This heroin is killing Americans in record numbers, according to the Centers for Disease Control.

The crisis isn’t limited to areas adjacent to the border; it has now spread to communities far beyond, as our Corruption Chronicles blog reports this week:
Illustrating that the Mexican drug crisis is having a far-reaching impact on the U.S., a heroin ring operated by a Mexican cartel was recently busted in an American suburb more than 1,500 miles from the southern border. In the last few years Judicial Watch has reported extensively on the massive amounts of drugs—especially heroin—that get smuggled into the U.S. by Mexican traffickers who later use street, prison and outlaw motorcycle gangs to distribute them throughout the country. Undoubtedly, these enterprises benefitted tremendously from the Obama administration’s open border policies.

Now we have confirmation that these illicit drug operations have penetrated areas far from the border. This case comes out of Rowan County, North Carolina, where a local news report reveals that authorities began targeting large-scale heroin distribution in 2013. Last week three people with ties to a Mexican drug cartel were arrested in the county. Large quantities of heroin, handguns, a rifle, ammunition, numerous telephones, cash and drug paraphernalia were confiscated by police. Authorities say the Mexican heroin trafficking ring was based in the Charlotte-Matthews area and has been supplying heroin to Rowan County for more than a decade. “Over the past two months, investigators purchased large amounts of heroin from two people working for this Mexican National Drug Trafficking Organization,” the news report states.

This is hardly earth-shattering news. A number of federal audits have documented the enormous amounts of drugs that annually enter the U.S. through the porous southern border, even as Obama’s Homeland Security Secretary famously proclaimed the region to be as secure as it’s ever been. One report, published just a few months ago, referred to western states as a “heroin transit zone” because Mexican cartels move such large amounts of drugs through the Southwest border. That government assessment disclosed that there at least eight major Mexican drug trafficking organizations operating in the United States with the Sinaloa Cartel being the most active. Heroin is the most popular drug and it’s entering the country through Mexico in record numbers. From 2010 to 2015 heroin seizures in the Mexican border region more than doubled from 1,016 kg to 2,524 kg, according to government figures.

The trend mirrors the increase in overall seizures throughout the U.S. as well. For instance, federal arrests and prosecutions of heroin traffickers have skyrocketed with 6,353 heroin-related arrests in 2015. Additionally, the number of individuals sentenced for heroin trafficking offenses in federal courts has increased by almost 50%, the government confirms. In 2015 the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) issued a report disclosing that the majority of illegal drugs in the United States come from Mexico and Mexican traffickers remain the greatest criminal threat to the United States. They’re classified as Transitional Criminal Organizations (TCOs) by the government and they’ve long smuggled in huge quantities of heroin, cocaine, methamphetamine and marijuana.

A big part of the problem is that the drug trafficking is being leveraged by corrupt public officials in the U.S., a years-long Judicial Watch investigation has found. Undoubtedly, cartel violence is real but truckloads of drugs are getting across the country because U.S. officials at the municipal, state and federal level are turning a blind eye or actively participating and cooperating with cartels. As part of an ongoing probe, Judicial Watch has provided the Department of Justice (DOJ) Inspector General and Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley with evidence, including the sworn testimony of law enforcement officers, of this corruption and criminality in all levels of government. Learn more about Judicial Watch’s probe here.
Do not imagine that our porous border is a problem for someone else because you don’t live there. The quadrupling of deaths from heroine overdosing has occurred in every part of the country and among every race and age group. We have covered this extensively, as you can see here, and we will not let up.

    California Crony Corruption Costs Taxpayers

Americans of almost every political stripe – liberal or conservative, Democrat or Republican – hate the “revolving door,” which is the shuttling of former government officials into private jobs where they use their formerly official connections to enrich themselves.

This week, we released documents that the Washington revolving door extends all the way to Sacramento, California, and back again. JW pried loose records from the California Legislature Joint Rules Committee revealing that the legislature will pay former Attorney General Eric Holder’s law firm $25,000 a month for 40 hours of work each month for providing “legal strategies regarding potential actions of the federal government that may be of concern to the State of California.” The contract precludes requiring the Holder firm to do any other litigation or advocacy work.

The records came in response to a January 9, 2017, Legislative Open Records Act request for:
All contracts between the California Legislature and former U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder Jr. or Covington and Burling.

All communications between the California Legislature and former U. S. Attorney General Eric Holder Jr. or Covington and Burling about the Legislature’s retention of Holder and/or Covington and Burling.
On January 4, California legislative leaders announced that they had hired Holder to assist them in anticipated federal challenges to several state policies, including those on climate change and immigration.

In a statement, Kevin de Leon, California Senate President Pro Tempore said, “With the upcoming change in administrations, we expect that there will be extraordinary challenges for California in the uncertain times ahead.” The California attorney general, who represents the State’s interest in court, already has a budget of $190 million. So, yes, taxpayers are being double-charged for lawyers they don’t need!

In the Covington contract provided to Judicial Watch, Holder’s firm limited its activities to providing “legal strategies” and stipulated that it would require a “new engagement letter” for any activities beyond providing such advice:
We are pleased to confirm that we will serve as Special Counsel to the California State Senate and the California State Assembly (collectively “the Legislature”) in helping the Legislature develop legal strategies regarding potential actions of the federal government that may be of concern to the State of California…

Should the Legislature wish to retain us to work on any particular litigation or other matter or public policy advocacy work, that would not fall within the scope of this undertaking and would require a new engagement letter.
Holder was one of Obama’s longest-serving and most crooked Cabinet members. On June 28, 2012, he became the first U.S. Attorney General to be held in contempt of Congress on both civil and criminal grounds. The contempt charge came in connection with Holder’s refusal to turn over documents on Operation Fast and Furious, the Obama administration’s gunwalking scandal. Judicial Watch has since exposed numerous atrocities associated with this scandal.

Under Holder the Justice Department dismissed its voting rights case against the New Black Panther Party. The Justice Department originally filed its lawsuit against the New Black Panther Party following an incident that took place outside of a Philadelphia polling station on November 4, 2008. According to multiple witnesses, members of the New Black Panthers blocked access to polling stations, harassed voters and hurled racial epithets. A video of the incident, showing a member of the New Black Panther Party brandishing police-style baton weapon, was widely distributed on the Internet.

In March 2011, we sued the Holder Justice Department for records detailing its contacts with NAACP about the dismissal of the lawsuit.

In 2013, the Holder Justice Department was caught spying on The Associated Press by collecting months’ worth of phone records of reporters and editors. Fox News’ James Rosen was among those targeted by Holder’s Justice Department. Holder left the Justice Department in 2015 to rejoin Covington & Burling.

So you can see why many are outraged. California state legislators are wasting tax dollars to bankroll another corrupt politician – Eric Holder – under the pretense of attacking the Trump administration. This expensive contract is crony corruption pure and simple.

The swamp of public corruption has taken over California.
We aren’t finished with our investigation, so stay tuned.

Thanks Turiya, Robert David Steel was talking about Priebus being a traitor so I really hope if Priebus is in fact a traitor that Trump replaces him. Also it was efn hilarious the Trump tweet you posted showing how Sanders tried a "fake news" joke on CNN and CNN cut off Sanders. I love how Trump tweeted about it and brought attention to it. CNN is not a joke they are treasonous disinformation to the American people.
    Keep it up Turiya.
