Update: he just told me that the "other" hospital is telling him him its just allergies... He doesn't believe it, he knows what he has been dealing with and for how long. He has no extra money to pay for this, he can't afford the $1,000 a month Obamacare (would eat up 1/4th of his whole income) which wouldn't provide him a dime in benefits until he would reach the $6,500 annual deductible... something that maybe benefits him if in fact his brain did get infected and he ended up in the silly "$5K a day" US medical treatment protocol where he would likely be untreatable by that point anyways.

And this is just ONE of dozens of ways regular folk like my son and his young wife and baby have been screwed by this lovely government...
The Obama dark state that was setup to harm all of the US citizens Sam.. Trump is trying to get us all out of the mess. God Bless him.

We need to give Trump a chance to sort thru the swamp, deal with the floaters, deal with the slavery induced by Obama and those prior to him.

Here is a page explaining how Flynn was orchestrating a sting against the leaking intelligence community at least since December, when he made that phone call in the first place:

    http://webcache.googleusercontent.co...&ct=clnk&gl=us

It's a Google cache because the original page has already been taken down for some reason.

Flynn knew he was being recorded in December. He's an intel expert, former head of military intelligence. Of course he knew what he was doing.

The Trump administration has been giving out different false stories to insiders and seeing which ones resurface in the media, in order to pinpoint where leaks are occurring. That's why Trump said in his press conference that the leaks are real but the stories are false. When Flynn was fired, it was part of the act and emboldened the media who then "smelled blood in the water," as they say, not realizing that they are all being set up. Not only is leaking classified information a crime, but publishing classified info is a crime. The media is not exempt from this law.

It looks like Trump is building a case to prosecute certain figures in the media who are breaking the law by publishing false info. That's the idea I get from his tone when he tweets that the corporate media is the enemy of the American people.

He just has to be careful how to do with without looking like he's cracking down on freedom of the press, which of course does not include the freedom of publishing classified info. But the press is who reports the story so they would tell it in their own completely false way no doubt.
WOW!!! This Yuuge! A Great find, AVFTM. I would be curious as to where? / how? you came up with this?
This is just too, too good to be true...
Does this mean Flynn is still on board the Trump Train?

I see that David Petraeus has dropped out as a Flynn replacement.
With the mention of author, Tom Clancy, within the article, this has the ring of a Steve Pieczenik involvement with this.

Hope you don't mind but I'm posting this, here...

President Trump has defeated Democrats in the intelligence community (IC) who were leaking classified information to the press. Such leaks have been a problem for many presidents, but Trump is the first who took a proactive approach and set up a sting operation that identified the leakers. It’s highly illegal to leak classified information. It’s also illegal to PUBLISH this information, but Trump is too smart to try and prosecute reporters.

I thought that Trump would fire members of the IC until the leaks stopped, but the president solved the problem with a much more imaginative and deadly approach: He fed the IC false information. When this information was published, Trump was able to identify individual leakers.

    How?

Each group or individual who leaked was given a different version of events. This is CLASSIC spycraft. If nine individuals are told nine different stories, and then each of those stories is published, you know the identity of each person who talked to the press.

It’s called a “barium meal,” after the medical test used to detect problems in the gastrointestinal tract. Soft tissues don’t show up on X-rays. Barium salts are “radio-opaque,” meaning that they show up in a radiograph or X-ray.

Author Tom Clancy called it a “canary trap.” You give multiple sources multiple versions of events. When the sources repeat their version word for word, you can identify each leaker individually.

    Magic

In World War II, “Magic” was the code name for the code-breaking done by the US Army’s Signals Intelligence Service (SIS) and the US Navy’s Communication Special Unit. Japanese military code was called “Purple.” Although Magic had been able to break much of Purple, some things were still a mystery.

Magic determined in early 1942 that the Japanese were close to carrying out a major attack. However, the location of the attack—which the Japanese called “AF”—could not be figured out. Therefore the Americans carried out a barium test: Using an underwater cable, they contacted Midway Island, telling the base to broadcast a radio message “in the clear” that the desalinization plant had broken down.

The Japanese immediately sent a coded message to their forces that the desalinization plant at AF had broken down.

Now the Americans knew that the target of the impending attack was Midway Island. The greatest admiral in the US Navy—Frank Jack Fletcher—was sent out to meet the Japanese before they arrived.

    Frank Jack Fletcher

Fletcher was like Donald Trump. He was fearless and imaginative, a man who took massive but CALCULATED risks when given a nearly impossible job. He sank all four of the Japanese aircraft carriers, killing the most experienced officers, sailors, airmen, flight-deck facilitators, and mechanics. Japan never recovered, since there wasn’t enough time to train replacements.

Frank Jack Fletcher was the only flag officer who refused to be interviewed for the official US naval history of World War II. He said that his own actions were unimportant; all that mattered was what his men did. Winner of the Medal of Honor for his actions at the Battle of Veracruz (April 21-24, 1914), he died four days before his 88th birthday.

    Hiring a hit man

In law enforcement, officers must avoid “entrapment.” A potential criminal must decide to commit the crime him or herself. Officers can’t put the idea into the person’s head. If, for example, a person wants to hire a hit man to murder a spouse, a police officer will pose as a murderer. That officer will ask over and over, “Are you sure you want to do this?”

The officer will describe in detail what he’s going to do, as well as the consequences. The person hiring the hit man therefore makes an informed choice to commit the crime.

Donald Trump posed as a hit man. He made sure that the leakers in the IC knew that their actions were illegal. He WARNED them. Then he launched his sting.
Timeline of the leakers being identified

December 10th, 2015: Retired US Army General Michael T. Flynn attended a conference and banquet in Moscow to celebrate the 10th anniversary of TV news channel RT. It’s claimed that Flynn—a frequent RT paid commentator—was seated next to Russian President Vladimir Putin at the concluding banquet. In reality an empty chair separated the men.

An empty chair separated the men

Late January of 2016 – General Michael Flynn began unofficially advising Donald Trump on foreign policy.
August 17, 2016 – As the Republican nominee, Donald Trump received his first classified briefing by the IC. The briefing was prepared by Director of National Intelligence (DNI) James Clapper. Retired US Army General Michael Flynn sat in.
September 29, 2016Time magazine published classified information that the IC briefed Donald Trump that Russia hacked the Democratic National Committee (DNC). The source for this claim is an unidentified intelligence official.
October 7, 2016 – The Department of Homeland Security and Office of the Director of National Intelligence officially accused the Russian government of hacking of the DNC “to interfere with the US election process.”
October 31, 2016 – Democratic Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid wrote a letter to FBI Director James Comey, claiming that Comey had “explosive information about close ties and coordination between Donald Trump, his top advisors, and the Russian government — a foreign interest openly hostile to the United States.”
November 15, 2016 – Donald Trump received his first presidential daily briefing (PDB). He was given highly classified information by members of the IC. Immediately the IC told the press that Trump demanded security clearances for his children. Trump denied the claim. General Michael Flynn sat in on the PDB.

November 18, 2016 – Trump chose General Michael Flynn as his National Security Adviser. A former head of the Defense Intelligence Agency, Flynn is trained in espionage.
December 9, 2016 – The IC told the press that Trump receives only one PDB per week, at his request. Initially the press did not report that Vice President Elect Mike Pence received the six other presidential daily briefings. Pence is very experienced in foreign policy, having brought multiple Israeli defense contractors to Indiana when he was governor.
The press also did not report the context for Trump receiving one PDB per week: Trump delegates responsibilities. Mike Pence will serve as the president’s surrogate in the foreign policy realm, freeing up Trump to concentrate on domestic policy.
Late December, 2016 – The FBI opened an investigation into the claims that Russia attempted to influence the 2016 US presidential election.
January 10, 2017 – The press began to write about a 35-page dossier put together by an alleged British former spy. The dossier claimed that Russia was attempting to blackmail Donald Trump through the use of sex tapes. Trump denied the allegation.
January 11, 2017 – Trump described his first sting. In order to identify the people leaking classified information to the press, Trump did not tell his staff that the IC was about to brief him. After the briefing, the news was leaked to the press. Trump was therefore able to identify the leakers. He warned them that this behavior is illegal.
January 11, 2017 – DNI James Clapper spoke to Trump by telephone about the leaks. Clapper issued a statement that the leaks are “extremely corrosive and damaging to our national security.”
January 23, 2017 – Having LISTENED TO THE TAPES, the FBI cleared General Michael Flynn of any wrongdoing in his conversations with Russian Ambassador to the US Sergey Kislyak. Flynn did not violate the Logan Act by attempting to influence US foreign policy.
February 2, 2017 – The IC leaked what it said were details of conversations between President Trump, Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull, and Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto. Both Australia and Mexico denied media reports that the calls were acrimonious and that Trump made threats, was rude, and behaved badly.
February 8, 2017 – In an interview with the Washington Post, General Michael Flynn categorically denied having discussed sanctions with Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak. Thus we see that the Washington Post had been given classified information by the IC and wanted to get Flynn on record so that they could spring what they thought was a brilliant trap.
February 9, 2017 – The New York Times and the Washington Post published articles claiming that General Michael Flynn discussed sanctions with Russian ambassador Sergey Kislyak in December of 2016. The articles were very confusing and contradictory. From the Washington Post.

    From the New York Times.

Why couldn’t the IC tell us if Flynn had broken the law or not? Because everyone had been given a different story.

General Flynn also knew he was being recorded. Therefore we can have no doubt that this was a sting operation coordinated between President Trump, Vice President Mike Pence, General Flynn, the FBI, and the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI).

February 13, 2017 – The IC told the press that in late January, acting Attorney General Sally Q. Yates warned the White House that General Michael Flynn may be vulnerable to Russian blackmail, due to his conversations with Ambassador Kislyak. Yates based her opinion on “a report.” Sally Q. Yates is the first of the disloyal Democrats to be passed false information. She never listened to the actual tapes of Flynn’s conversations.
February 16, 2017 – Donald Trump gave a press conference in which he admitted to the sting. He said that the leaks are real, but the news is fake.

In other words, the ODNI fed the IC false information that the IC then blathered to the press. The ODNI did this in order to restore to President Trump complete control over the IC so that he can stop the “corrosive and damaging” leaks. Trump also said that the conversations with Australia and Mexico were “almost like a test.”

In reality they WERE a test. No transcripts of the conversations were ever produced, and both Australia and Mexico denied the IC’s claims. The leakers have no access to actual information. They were set up. It’s clear that the Trump sting operation involved PATRIOTIC members of the National Security Agency (NSA) and PATRIOTIC members of the ODNI.

It’s also clear that General Michael Flynn helped create the barium test or canary trap. The CIA hates Flynn due to his criticism of their incompetence. After the major leaks began in September of 2016, General Flynn, Trump, Pence, James Comey, and James Clapper hatched a plan to identify the leakers by giving them false information.

Flynn had to be fired so that the leakers and the press would continue their collusion. This means that Trump has even MORE evidence of their criminality, since they didn’t immediately stop. The firing of Flynn made them overconfident and careless.

    “One down, more to go!”

    A fake trophy scalp

Flynn was not fired against his will. For some reason people don’t understand that. I’m very surprised. Do you not grasp that Flynn CREATED this operation? The position of National Security Adviser is almost ceremonial. When the leaks began in September of 2016, it was FLYNN who crafted this sting. He hasn’t been sacrificed. Instead, he’s working behind the scenes to root out corruption in the IC.

Today at his press conference, Donald Trump said he thinks the leaks will stop. This is because the leakers are looking at very long prison sentences. Like Tom Cruise in The Firm, Donald Trump now knows everything.

It’s up to the IC whether or not Trump unloads his cargo of information or keeps it at sea forever.

Re post #159 - 163... I just hope we're not derailing the "sting" by discussing it here (yes, it would mean that Flynn is still onboard - also look at how Hillary responded with her tweet to the Flynn's "What goes around COMETS around")

Obama was at least right about that, Clinton is careless.

Good grief! How can anyone think that returning to coal burning (not to mention more fracking) is going to be good for anything at all?
    Quote Posted by Eram (here)
Just back from my night shift and saw this Bill Still report pop up.
    reporting Ryan is changing sides?

    what??
    The "how" is easy...

One investigates the matter and considers it along with all related matters that make up the big picture. Then, when one considers the the openly stated goal of Donald Trump, that the US becomes energy independent such that foreign governments no longer have an ability to leverage the United States' need for energy supplies from unfriendly nations... where energy costs can be brought down such that us little guys actually experience some actual financial relief... such that when a little guy like me considers the many moves Trump is making (and God willing... that congress will make) such that the lives of my terribly struggling children can actually experience a glimmer of hope they won't forever remain in their formerly hopeless trajectory...

...and then one comes back to coal, and one investigates the actual plan with regards to coal... a plan to use the cleanest techniques currently technologically availble for reviving this job providing industry... knowing that there are nations like China who are over 75% dependent on coal and who are far less likley to be forced or compelled to use these cleaner techniques... a nation than gains every unfair advantage it can in shifting economic power into their hands... and all this going on because of people (and a former president) in the US who want the US to participate in and adhere to "the Paris Climate agreement" when now we have an actual high level NOAA Data Science, Climate and satellites consultant - John J. Bates - blowing the whistle about the "cook data" which has been relentlessly used to push this ridiculous accord when plain ole folks like myself and a few others on the forum here are hip enough to know the actual goal is to implement complete, total control over every single aspect of each of our lives...

...considering all these things that I just shared right out of my head, much less considering the plethora of fact based, experience based data found just on this forum alone that supports the "how"...

    ...this, onawah, is "how."

And I haven't even touched fracking yet.

On another note: my 22 year old son who woks 60 hours a week to bring home about $900 a week for his wife and two year old daughter (and himself)... whose company stays under the 50 employee limit so as not to have to get Obama care (both a job killing component of Obamacare as well as making it impossible for my son to afford healthcare), had to go to the "free" hospital last night (the one that will take him even with no money and no insurance) because of the following issue -

He got a root canal when he was 15 years old. Sadly, they only extracted three roots. The remaining one became infected and about a year ago he had to have emergency surgery as an infection such as this and the location of the infection creates a danger that the infection could spread to his brain which would disable him at best or kill him. Well, so he has been having off and on ear ache pains on that same side of his dead as this issue... having it off and on for months... always thinking it was just an ear ache and his immune system would deal with it.

Well, its gotten worse so he finally "bit the bullet" and went to the "free hospital" last night around 8 PM. He waited 7 hours and they never even got to him. He was hoping to work today as that essentially represents about $250 in income (as this would be overtime - time and a half) but he just didn't have the energy to go.

And this is just ONE of dozens of ways regular folk like my son and his young wife and baby have been screwed by this lovely government... a government that hasn't functioned to the real benefit of regular folk who actually try and work, try and make a difference by doing a job that benefits others (my son repairs foundations of houses and buildings) and who try to earn enough to take basic care of their family and who have little or nothing left over for anything other than saving up for the next big negative surprise when they get the next lovely piece of paper in the mail that tells them they better pay this or that or... lawyers or police are the next thing to expect come knocking at their door.

    Sam
I PM'd you about your son and the dental problems that I've had a similar ordeal spanning years myself. I hope I did the PM correctly as I haven't used it before..

Coal is another trigger word for ideologues today. They act like it's the same techniques as in 1930 and they'd rather have people in three states living in tents than use the bloody resource. Feed people first then talk about friggin' toxins...

Re the nightmare you're describing with obamacare, one of my brothers has three kids and they pay close to 8K in deductibles. I don't talk to this brother too often so I don't know the details why but that is what my sister in law told me. That blew me away. I think those obsessed with identity politics as the most important thing in life must be privileged people, maybe mostly single with good jobs? Maybe it works for those below the poverty line? It's robbing the working and middle class families of disposable income to do other quality of life things. But then that was probably the intention all along... it's the families they want to destroy...

It looks like Trump is building a case to prosecute certain figures in the media who are breaking the law by publishing false info. That's the idea I get from his tone when he tweets that the corporate media is the enemy of the American people.
Yes, perfect - I believe that's exactly it (and he's ultimately setting up Netanyahu/Israel/Saudis & others ie, the traitors within his own admin, the same way). He's culling the hidden alligators in the swamp
Yep, thats the exact same thought I have had for at least the last month. Give them enough rope and lets see whom hangs themself.

Furthermore the pedo/satanists have been arrogantly flaunting their lifestyle on social media thinking they are untouchable, "they have had more than enough rope".
I think these pedo/satanists are the achilles heel that will bring down the entire tptw network.
These pedo/satanists will not even be able to find a pebble to hide under soon enough.

Here is a Breitbart article about this...

Conservative grassroots leaders are planning a series of massive pro-President Donald Trump rallies nationwide, Breitbart News has learned exclusively.

On Feb. 27 and March 4, the rallies—dubbed the Spirit of America Rallies—will spring up nationwide in cities and towns across America.
“These rallies are inclusive, non-partisan, and open to anyone supporting President Trump in his efforts to bring back manufacturing jobs to America, put the security of our nation ahead of political correctness, improve our infrastructure, revitalize the inner cities and secure our nation’s borders,” Debbie Dooley, a national co-founder of the Tea Party movement and a key organizer of the Spirit of America rallies, says in a press release obtained by Breitbart News ahead of its public release.
Since President Trump’s election, during his time as president-elect and since his inauguration on Jan. 20, hardcore progressive leftists have been repeatedly protesting him in a sometimes violent manner. These rallies, organizers say, are meant to be a peaceful show of force from the “silent majority” that delivered Trump a landslide electoral college victory over failed Democratic president Hillary Rodham Clinton.

Dooley told Breitbart News that since the anti-Trump women’s march in D.C. after the president’s inauguration, she has received so many calls from Trump supporters–including many, many women Trump supporters–urging her to organize a show of force among the silent majority nationwide in response–that she had to turn off her cell phone so she could get work done. The Spirit of America rallies are not Tea Party rallies, she adds, and she hopes that Democrat groups backing Trump–there were many of them nationwide, forming a collective called the “Trumpocrats”–will get involved and step up to help the president, too. She also notes that the selection of Feb. 27 as the kickoff date of these pro-Trump rallies is significant, since that was the first day of the Tea Party movement back in 2009.
“I am proud to lead the charge here in Louisiana to get supporters of President Trump to show their support of his policy agenda through these Spirit of America rallies,” Col. Rob Maness, a retired Air Force colonel, founder of GatorPAC and two-time conservative Senate candidate in Louisiana who’s also involved in helping the rallies in his home state, added in the release. “Average citizens from across the political spectrum and all walks of life elected Mr. Trump and we at GatorPAC are especially pleased to help him with his national effort to Make America Great Again and #DrainTheSwamp priorities in Washington D.C.”

Ralph King, an elector for President Trump from Ohio and the co-founder of Main Street Patriots, added that he believes “the American electorate spoke loud and clear this past November.”

“These Spirit of America Rallies are a continuation of the collective voice of Americans that embrace President Trump’s policies to put the American workers and citizens first once again,” King said.
Rallies are in the works in states as far-flung as Arizona, Georgia, Colorado, Indiana, Iowa, Louisiana, New Jersey, Ohio, South Carolina, and Washington state—as well as other states, organizers say. More information is available on the Spirit of America rallies website

McCain Responds To Trump's Tweet: "That's How Dictators Get Started"

"If you want to preserve democracy as we know it, you have to have a free and in many times adversarial free press, and without it we'd lose so much of our individual liberties over time. That's how dictators get started."
    • Feb 18, 2017 3:20 PM
A third response is that if there is indeed a shadow government forming behind the "soft coup" attempt to potentially oust Trump, then McCain is not far from it; yet others have pointed out that despite the escalating tensions between Trump and the press, the former remains the democratically elected POTUS and that the majority of Americans support him in his feud with a media which on numerous occasions has indeed demonstrated to be distributing what is so simplistically called "fake news", which as a reminder is what Trump is "ranting and raving" against, not the concept of a free press, or the First Amendment as much as the corporate-owned press would like to see itself made into a martyr defending these values.

In any case, with relations between the Executive branch and the Fourth Estate at levels never seen before, many wonder what happens next, and whether this latest escalation between the two sides presages an even greater scandal to be revealed in the coming days.

Robbing Peter to pay Paul or "killing ourselves to live" is what coal burning is, just like fracking.
The taxpayers, not the corporations that make the messes, pay for cleaning up after (that which can actually be cleaned up, which isn't much), both in cost to the environment and in health care.
In Arkansas where I live people have been fighting tooth and nail to ban it, and Arkansas is not a rich state.
However, it's a beautiful state with lots of open spaces, known as the "Natural State" and everyone here knows that tourists come here because of that, and because the water has long been known to be some of the purest and most healing water in the world.
Coal mining and burning, along with fracking, fluoridation, spraying of toxic pesticides and herbicides is ruining all that, and the economy suffers, jobs are lost, health care costs go up and children are affected the most.
It's not hard to understand why Arkansans prefer to keep their state clean and beautiful and the tourist industry thriving.
Many communities around the country are dying because their water is so polluted, and the MSM doesn't report that except when they are forced to.
Take a look at Erin Brockovich's Facebook page and website sometime; she's been covering the stories as well as she can, but it would be a full time job for many people, not just one.
    "Clean coal" is a myth.
Here's just one very revealing article from Institute for Energy Economics and Financial Analysis: http://ieefa.org/how-a-clean-coal-my...ally-unmasked/
Quote When the U.S. Department of Energy pulled the plug in February on a $1 billion subsidy to build FutureGen, a “clean coal” plant in Illinois, it put a merciful end to a twisted tale that had been unraveling for years. The coal industry peddled influence at high levels among both Democrats and Republicans to move the project forward, but in the end it was killed—and rightly so—by economic realities.

“Clean coal” is an oxymoron used to describe a variety of technological schemes that might be used not to make coal itself—a highly polluting fuel—“clean,” but to remove pollutants that are generated when coal is burned for fuel. Sometimes the term “clean coal” refers to modern air pollution controls that can be added to coal-fired power plants. Sometimes it means trying to capture more of a plant’s harmful emissions by “gasifying” coal before it is burned. FutureGen involved gasification along with an experimental technology known as carbon capture and sequestration in which the carbon dioxide generated from burning coal is stored underground.

FutureGen was first proposed with great fanfare in 2003 by the Bush administration, which described it as a “zero-emissions” coal plant that would rescue the coal industry in the face of potentially broader regulations on emissions. A consortium of coal companies, among them Peabody Energy, Alpha Natural Resources, AngloAmerican, Glencore, and JoyGlobal, formed an alliance and promised to put up $250 million to build FutureGen if the U.S. government pitched in $700 million.

AS ALWAYS WITH SUCH PROJECTS, PROPONENTS DRUMMED UP POLITICAL SUPPORT WITH PROMISES OF AN EMPLOYMENT WINDFALL. News organizations published job-creation estimates at the time that ran the gamut from 1,000 construction jobs and 150 permanent jobs to 11,000 employees and “countless” spin-off jobs. It’s unlikely any of these numbers were verified at the time, but they made for a good sales pitch.

The Bush administration set up a national bidding war to get FutureGen going. Seven states— Illinois, Kentucky, North Dakota, Ohio, Texas, West Virginia and Wyoming—fell all over themselves offering subsidies to woo FutureGen. A June 2006 story in the Washington Post described the pageant like this:

“Illinois has up to $80 million in incentives on the table, from grants to low-interest loans. Ohio is offering twice that, while Texas has passed a law making it responsible for any legal entanglements stemming from the coal-fired plant’s carbon dioxide emissions. Some of the states are ponying up everything from sales-tax relief to free land, pushing the enticements into the hundreds of millions of dollars.”

In December 2007, Mattoon, Ill., was selected as the site for the plant after Gov. Rod Blagojevich (now serving a 14-year prison sentence for corruption) led an intensive campaign to attract FutureGen, lining up support from the state’s political delegation, organizing rallies, and hiring a major D.C. lobbying firm, Cassidy and Associates, at a taxpayer cost of $460,000.

Much to the chagrin of Blagojevich and friends, the Bush administration turned around and cancelled the project in February 2008, citing cost overruns that had increased the price tag from $1 billion to $1.8 billion. Energy Secretary Samuel W. Bodman told the honest truth in explaining that FutureGen was scuttled on “the likelihood that it would fail, leaving the American people with hundreds of millions of dollars in sunk cost and none of the benefits.”

    “Not acceptable,” Bodman said.

Not to be deterred, the Blagojevich machine revved up again when a senator from Illinois—Barack Obama—was elected to the White House. The state’s congressional delegation got funding for FutureGen restored in President Obama’s federal stimulus package in 2009, and the Obama administration announced a $1 billion grant for FutureGen in February 2010.

But a funny thing happened on the way to completion. After the Department of Energy spent $116.5 million for work on the power plant itself and $86 million on its underground gasification site, the project stalled out last year. The technology hadn’t taken off the way it was supposed to, echoing similar failures elsewhere. American Electric Power, a company with a much-ballyhooed plan to implement carbon capture and sequestration at its Huntington Plant in West Va., cancelled its project in 2012 after concluding that the technology was unviable on a commercial scale. Today, Mississippi Power Company presses ahead with its Kemper ‘integrated gasification coal combined cycle,” or IGCC plant, although the price of the plant—which will be borne by ratepayers—has now doubled since inception and the long-delayed project is at least a year away from operation. The performance history of Duke Energy’s IGCC plant in Edwardsport, Indiana, suggests Kemper is extremely unlikely to function as promised.

WHEN THE OBAMA ADMINISTRATION—LIKE THE BUSH ADMINISTRATION BEFORE IT—ANNOUNCED IT WAS CUTTING OFF FUTUREGEN FUNDING, it said it was doing so “in order to best protect taxpayer interest.”

What was left largely unsaid was that the private side of the original private-public partnership had never really stepped up. Illinois Sen. Dick Durbin, one of FutureGen’s foremost cheerleaders, did hint that the coal industry had not held up its end of the bargain, saying the “project has always depended on a private commitment and can’t go forward without it.”

FutureGen, in fact, was a taxpayer handout to the coal industry all along. The whole history of the “clean coal” gambit is rooted in a series of federal subsidies, publicly funded bond issues, and university research grants. If the coal industry really believed a miracle technology could be found to burn coal in an affordable and environmentally sound way, it would be investing its own money—earnestly and in great quantities—to make that happen, not just hoping to hoodwink taxpayers into footing the bill.

Many other articles report more problems from sources including Yale, National Geographic and Popular Mechanics:
    Quote http://www.popularmechanics.com/scie...a4947/4339171/
There's just one problem with this scenario: Coal will never be clean. It is possible to make coal emissions cleaner. In fact, we've come a long way since the '70s in finding ways to reduce sulfur--dioxide and nitrogen-oxide emissions, and more progress can be made. But the nut of the clean-coal sales pitch is that we can also bottle up the CO2 produced when coal is burned, most likely by burying it deep in the earth. That may be possible in theory, but it's devilishly difficult in practice.

Carbon dioxide is not some minor byproduct of coal combustion. Remember your high school chemistry: When coal burns, oxygen from the air combines with the carbon in the coal in an exothermic (heat-releasing) reaction. Because of the addition of oxygen, the resulting CO2 weighs more than the carbon alone--which means that each pound of coal produces about 2.5 pounds of CO2. Keeping that CO2 out of the atmos-phere requires a process known as carbon capture and sequestration (CCS). It works by forcing the exhaust from a power plant through a liquid solvent that absorbs the carbon dioxide. Later, the solvent is heated to liberate the gas, much the way a bottle of soda releases its dissolved CO2 when opened. The CO2 is then compressed to about 100 times normal atmospheric pressure and sent away for storage.

So far, so good. But CCS has two major hurdles. First, it consumes energy--a lot of it. While estimates vary, a coal-fired power plant would have to burn roughly 25 percent more coal to handle carbon sequestration while producing the same amount of electricity. That would mean a vast expansion in mining, transportation costs and byproducts such as fly ash.

But that's the easy part. The harder challenge would be transporting and burying all of this high-pressure CO2. American Electric Power recently began a CCS project at its Mountaineer Plant in West Virginia. The operation captures a few hundred tons of CO2 a day. That's a start--but a typical 500-megawatt power plant produces about 10,000 tons daily. Collectively, America's coal-fired power plants generate 1.5 billion tons per year. Capturing that would mean filling 30 million barrels with liquid CO2 every single day--about one and a half times the volume of crude oil the country consumes. It took roughly a century to build the infrastructure we use to distribute petroleum products. Could we build an even bigger CCS infrastructure of pumps, pipelines and wells quickly enough to hit the ambitious targets the climate bill envisions? Serious plans to engineer--much less finance--such a vast project aren't even on the table.
Here's a final problem: We don't know if the gas will stay buried. We could easily spend hundreds of billions injecting CO2 into the earth only to have it start leaking out again in a few decades. None of this means that CCS is impossible to achieve. But it is a dangerous gamble to assume that it will become technically and economically feasible any time soon.

Coal is another trigger word for ideologues today. They act like it's the same techniques as in 1930 and they'd rather have people in three states living in tents than use the bloody resource. Feed people first then talk about friggin' toxins...
    Each breath a gift...
