Default Prof. Brian Cox says 'CERN proves ghost don't exist'

(don't know in which forum this should go)

TV personality / famous Professor Brian Cox discussed on BBC radio that he believes the LHC proves ghosts cannot exist:

    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencete...N-T-exist.html

My interpretation is he is talking about the impossibilty of some as yet unknown energy 'animating' matter.

    Personally, never seen a ghost.

Do I believe they exist? Don't know - have no evidence for or against.

But if many folk say they have experienced something that can only be referenced to a ghost I believe them.

What this may be, I have not reached any conclusion...

-telepathy, time distortions, residual soul-body patterns, energy imprints on local matter, I cannot say.

Seems a bit odd to me as LHC is so controversial and so are ghosts.

Dead right I have seen ghosts several times and experienced their presence, they are real. For example, had one stand right behind me once "I told it to get a life", I then had the feeling that the whole back part of my body felt like I was laying on a bed of ice, it was a freaky experience.

I wouldn’t pay too much attention to Brian Cox. He’s just another one of those media shills, a paid-for techno- pop idol, and a mouth-piece of the 'scientific mainstream establishment'. They aim to steer public perception away from anything remotely paranormal or spiritual to cold, hard (fake) science, whilst promoting AI, transhumanism, and the deification of technology. Cox is the UK's version of Michio Kaku.

I have seen ghosts. Contrary to my fear of them, they were rather pedestrian and unscary (literally a group of them just walking up the hill)! They were very blurred, more like an impression.

Just because physicists have not found how particles can be coded with information does not mean that such a coding does not exist. Remember physicists have found that somehow particles separated by vast distances seem to communicate instantaneously (faster than the speed of light) and physicists cannot explain how this is done other than to say that everything in the universes is connected. Be wary of scientists who proclaim that they know the ultimate truth or have established fact beyond questioning...

Can you imagine being so utterly pompous and up your own arse that you'd actually have the audacity to make a public statement, from a position of influence like he has, that suggests you think you know something that you have absolutely no way of knowing? The pomposity of 'scientists' is just as embarrassing as the blind faith of religious fanatics.

He is an arrogant D***. In the beginning of the Article he Sais: 'Before we ask the first question, I want to make a statement: We are not here to debate the existence of ghosts because they don't exist.
Thats open minded. Wonder why he will never find any Ghosts
And remember in Quantum Physics you can just find what you are looking for!!! And they are not looking for Ghosts

@Looking Glass: The Article is called: Has the Large Hadron Collider proved that ghosts DON'T exist? Professor Brian Cox thinks so
He just think so, he gives no scientific proof whatsoever, thats very scientific.
Who made him Proffessor I wonder?

My family, not me, sees ghosts frequently. My sister and mom have witnessed the same apparition at the same time. My daughter and my mom saw a little girl in 1800s period dress, at the same time. My daughter very often sees all manner of entities in her bedroom and has since she was 3 years old. Whatever label you place on it, something is there.

One of my aunts lives in a house built around 1846. One Christmas before they left the house in the evening they unplugged the tree lights. They looked at each other in astonishment upon their return as the lights were back on! She then saw a little boy dressed in 19th century clothes & said to him, "You need to go back over to the other side." Once in awhile she still has "odd" things happen in her home. When she takes photos there are many orbs, inside & outside her house. They even follow her & the dog to the creek!

If your question is directed to me and not to the forum:

I (through years of research, personal experiences and those close to me) have decided existance continues after 'death'.

Although the exact method/ journey I am not 100% sure about ( I have my prediction which is roughly 80% 'solid' in my perception - but that's a whole other topic?)

Like your humour DNA, it's a one of the often overlooked/ essential methods of fighting 'the bogeyman' . Alas, IMO, humour to work has to be powerful and cutting edge, however, it has been outlawed in many/ most places by the 'ism-ists'.

Your page reference I have bookmarked for later perusal.

He is a highly university awarded particle physicist (B.Sc, Master, Doctor of Philosophy and works for CERN in the ATLAS experiment).

I myself only got a B.Sc. and it was not in Physics, although have always 'followed/ read about that field.

I am not a scientist anymore, still have respect for 'the scientific method', but do not believe that is the ultimate tool to the answers and experiences people have.

I can not explain what ghosts are, nor where they come from. However, to make such a blanket statement is totally irresponsible. Either the statement was taken out of context, or maybe he should visit my home. There is absolutely, most definitely, a "ghost" here. Each one of my immediate family members have seen her, and all four of us have also experienced smells, strange activities, and other paranormal events. As I said, I do not claim to know what ghosts are. All speculation is welcome on that question. But indeed, they most surely exist. Atleast in my personal reality.

Me too, since a very young age, although I haven't seen any now for quite a few years.

First house I bought about 23 years ago, had three "regular residents" (all friendly), show up on frequent occasions - flatmates saw them too. A little girl in 19th century dress, a half person/man in Gallipolli-looking uniform (either whole or just his top half), and the third, what I could only describe as a "nebulous cloud".

The really weird bit of the Gallipolli character,... when I cleaned up house to move, I discovered a 3ft painted statue in two halves under the house of exactly this "ghost". I decided to leave it there!

(One other wasn't so nice, manifesting as some kind of demonic-looking (alien?) entity in a cloak - that was pretty scary)!

Ghosts are indeed real and do exist. I've seen them a few times, once I saw a cowboy with his hat and boots, striking a pose at me.

I have a good friend who's a very strong psychic and does exorcism to cast away negative beings. It's a very dangerously demanding job, and because of this she told me that she will probably not live a very long life. Her life is a dedication to God, as her purpose is to serve for God's will. She will probably not reincarnate onto earth anymore either, which I'm very happy for her about.

I know of another psychic girl who works as a professional energy healer, and claims to see ghosts everywhere, all the time. She sees them as clearly as she sees 3D humans, and cannot drive a car because she can't identify so quickly whether it's a 3D person or a ghost that's crossing the street.

Children love to dress up as all kinds of ghosts and creatures for Halloween to get buckets full of candy, they'd go out on a huge rampage if they'd heard that there are some people like Brian Cox who claim there are no ghosts around.

I suppose it depends on where one brings their visual focus to their awareness. Some people see more angels, some more aliens. I like to keep an open mind and think that anything and everything that man can imagine already exists, even unicorns, pegasuses and flying pigs (I personally prefer flying cows)

    -Edit-

I just heard from one of my colleagues that a very honored, significant person from our community where I work has passed away yesterday from breaking her spine. Many people who were closer to her and around in the community seem to be talking about her spiritual ghostly existence hovering over us right now.

In Buddhism it's said that it takes 49 (7x7) days for the soul to make its transition from this earthly life to the next. I don't know what the level of truth to that is, but will be sending my prayers and blessings for her soul's safe transition.

    Quote Bardo
    From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Tibetan word bardo (བར་དོ་ Wylie: bar do) means literally "intermediate state"—also translated as "transitional state" or "in-between state" or "liminal state". In Sanskrit the concept has the name antarabhāva. It is a concept which arose soon after the Buddha's passing, with a number of earlier Buddhist groups accepting the existence of such an intermediate state, while other schools rejected it.

Used loosely, the term "bardo" refers to the state of existence intermediate between two lives on earth. According to Tibetan tradition, after death and before one's next birth, when one's consciousness is not connected with a physical body, one experiences a variety of phenomena. These usually follow a particular sequence of degeneration from, just after death, the clearest experiences of reality of which one is spiritually capable, and then proceeding to terrifying hallucinations that arise from the impulses of one's previous unskillful actions. For the prepared and appropriately trained individuals the bardo offers a state of great opportunity for liberation, since transcendental insight may arise with the direct experience of reality, while for others it can become a place of danger as the karmically created hallucinations can impel one into a less than desirable rebirth.

    Vasubandhu’s Abhidharmakośa explains (English trs. p. 383ff):

'What is an intermediate being, and an intermediate existence? Intermediate existence, which inserts itself between existence at death and existence at birth, not having arrived at the location where it should go, cannot be said to be born. Between death—that is, the five skandhas of the moment of death—and arising—that is, the five skandhas of the moment of rebirth—there is found an existence—a "body" of five skandhas—that goes to the place of rebirth. This existence between two realms of rebirth (gatī) is called intermediate existence.'

He cites a number of texts and examples to defend the notion against other schools which reject it and claim that death in one life is immediately followed by rebirth in the next, without any intermediate state in between the two. Both the Mahāvibhāṣa and the Abhidharmakośa have the notion of the intermediate state lasting "seven times seven days" (i.e. 49 days) at most. This is one view, though, and there were also others.
