Default Why you should add salt - not sugar - to your coffee

    Hello Everyone:
Here's a bit of information that I had a friend do for as long as I have known him and that's a long, long time. He claims it's the best thing in his cup of coffee. He never ads sugar.
You might even like that cup of JO more and more
    Enjoy!

Why we should add salt - not sugar - to our coffee

Some of us like sugar in our coffee, some of us don’t – and some people even avoid adding milk.

Whatever our preferences are, it tends to be a combination of these ingredients that we add to our favourite brew.

But there’s one essential ingredient missing from this list, apparently; salt.

If you usually add sugar to take the edge off a bitter cup of the beverage, you should actually add salt instead, according to coffee drinkers.

Maybe mixing up the salt and sugar on the table won’t be such a mistake any more [Photo: Pexels]

According to a study from the journal Nature, sodium ions suppress the bitterness in coffee and actually enhance its flavour.

But just a little bit of it, of course, unless you’re a fan of eating plain salt for breakfast.

The same goes for wine, according to vino experts.

According to The Wall Street Journal, former Microsoft chief technology officer Nathan Myhrvold found that adding a little to some cheap plonk balanced the flavour of unbalanced wines.

He apparently discovered the trick at a dinner party, when Gina Gallo of E. & J. Gallo Winery sat next to him wished her wine was a little more savoury.

So he added a pinch of salt – and it worked.

These might seem the last taste combinations you’d want to try, but it’s hardly stranger than a Creme Egg pizza or chocolate crumpets, surely?

    This works for me.

I've long been a fan of adding plenty of sugar to my coffee.

But now I make my coffee with my remineralized water, which has plenty of minerals in it, including no doubt the equivalent of a pinch of salt (dissolved sodium chloride). It no longer even occurs to me to add sugar.

I still do find myself wanting to add sugar (raw honey, at present) to my various teas however, such as oolong, rooibos, tulsi, matcha, or hibiscus tea.

Coffee is a literal super food, it's one of the healthiest drinks you can get.

    so, I'd say... that's a good reason

yes coffee works for me too. I wouldn't consume anything from the processing plant though.

I had infertility problems because of this so called "super food"..
The consumption of a caffeine increases estrogen levels in your body. Caffeine also causes undesirable effects on other body organs. Caffeine will interfere with liver functioning, by reducing its ability to detoxify and eliminate excess estrogen. Caffeine also interferes with the production of progesterone, which counteracts the adverse effects of estrogen.

As I am doing a fairly vegetarian version of Dr. Berg's recommended diet for adrenal types, I drink organic, fair trade, etc decaf coffee and every morning, I do it as a bullet coffee. This means that I put a couple tsps each coconut oil and grass fed or organic salted butter in a blender along with a cup of dripped decaf and whiz it for maybe ten seconds. Because I recognized that the salt in the butter made the coffee better and somehow richer, when my vegan son asked how he could improve bullet coffee without the butter, I suggested he add a pinch or sea salt.

If I may add, rehydrate with pure spring water after enjoying your favorite cup of coffee.

Coffee and Tea in excess will deplete your jing. which is essentially your life force. In moderation, especially if you have poor circulation or weak metabolism, it may be somewhat useful.

Yes the most important is to ask your body due to diversity. When I have an excess of coffee just looking at the coffee jar makes me feel bad however when I forgot to drink for sometime I cant weight for the water to boil. same goes with tobacco. I am able to train my body and mind to be able to know how I will feel after consuming a certain food before I consume it. I believe anyone can do that the problem is that we have become detached to our bodies due to daily chaos. I dont drink coffee or smoke tobacco everyday but it certainly work for me whenever I do.

Toxicity is always dose dependent, never substance dependent; too much water is toxic, for example.

Use everything in moderation; nothing is the devil (except our selves and our excessive ways).

There was a thread on coffee a while back. Yes, it IS a super food if you consume it in balance. I didn't ever try it with salted butter. Will do tomorrow!
