You're doing a bloody fine job of muddying up the waters, indigopete.

You possibly just didn't have a clear picture of it in the first place (as Fits doesn't) and so may have invented one, that’s all I’m saying.

There's a propensity amongst our community (by that I mean those with an interest in seeking out a more just world and discovering the genuine geopolitical agenda) to see any system that's 'global’, at once as centralised or as corruptible honeypots.

In many cases that of course is true.

In the case of bitcoin, however, it defies the usual prejudices due to the fact that there is neither a central issuer nor a significant identifiable counterparty which can be co-opted. Contrary to what Catherine Austin Fits alludes to, that makes it more of a useful tool for ordinary people than an obstacle, despite the fact that it does have its own various ‘attack surfaces’.

If the "powers that be" want to crash it, the best way to succeed would be simply to restore confidence in the currently prevailing financial system. The worst way would be be to destroy the current financial system because they’d have created a debt-money tsunami in search of collateral that would make short work of any obstructive tinkering around the edges of blockchains they could do.

another major advantage in crypto community is that early bitcoin developers are true libertarians and have picked up on satoshi's whitepaper chasing ideological means. their imput is the most valuable one. the second wave of users came from darkweb community to do "illicit" transactions like silkroad etc. third wave of adopters came from those who are against the debt based financial system and seen bitcoin as a salvation in some way. the waves after are mostly greed and aim to profit. those who can see what cryptocurrencies have given to the world view the old system as a timebomb - just a matter of time.
