Default George Carlin : I miss him so much...

I love George Carlin.....Miss him so very much... He wasn't just absolutely hilarious, but if you really listened to what he was saying.....he made a lot of sense.

My favorite vid on YouTube. The hard part is finding it because it keeps somehow disappearing. At 3:24 he gave us truth about was going on...

    Don't you miss him?

It makes me feel good to know how many of you love him. Please share with us.

    George Carlin quotes :

''Just cause you got the monkey off your back doesn't mean the circus has left town.''

Carlin spoke the truth for nearly 50 years... and people are still listening to his wisdom...

Great George Carlin clips! everything he says is still true.

My favorite quote (he says it too in the second clip "The Owners of the Country"):

"The reason they call it the American Dream is because you have to be asleep to believe it."

I found this one from a list of his one-liners:

"When you're born you get a ticket to the freak show. When you are born in America, you get a front row seat." ~~ George Carlin

    I like this one too:

"Just when I discovered the meaning of life, they changed it."

    Classic:

"Ever notice that anyone going slower than you is an idiot, but anyone going faster is a maniac?"

A couple of years ago I read his daughter's memoir about her relationship with him, not a bad read. "A Carlin Home Companion: Growing Up with George" by Kelly Carlin 2015

We could use another George Carlin on stage again, such a genius fierce fearless truth-teller served with astute humor. Thanks George Carlin.

Carlin began working in the late 1950s as a wisecracking radio disc jockey and low-key stand-up comedian known for such whimsical routines as “Wonderful WINO” and the “Hippy Dippy Weatherman.” Beginning in the 1970s, however, he transformed himself into a provocative and incisive antiestablishment comic icon. Carlin was most closely identified with the monologue “Seven Words You Can Never Say on Television,” in which he satirically analyzed the use and misuse of seven of the raunchiest obscenities in the English language.

Carlin was arrested in 1972 for performing the monologue onstage, but a judge dismissed the case.

In 1973 New York City radio station WBAI-FM triggered a lawsuit by the FCC after it aired a recorded version of the routine called “Filthy Words.” The landmark “Carlin case” was finally settled in 1978 by the U.S. Supreme Court: in a 5–4 ruling, it gave the FCC the ability to censor offensive content in radio and TV broadcasts. Seven Words You Can Never Say on Television :

When George Carlin recorded an expletive-laden 12-minute monologue before a live audience in a California theatre, he probably didn’t expect it to become the basis of a key Supreme Court decision. But in 1973, the monologue was aired as part of a radio broadcast, and it was heard by a man who complained to the FCC when his young son heard the curses. This started a series of events that led to the FCC v. Pacifica Foundation decision. Not only has Pacifica become the cornerstone case for the regulation of indecent speech and the seminal Supreme Court case that authorized the FCC to restrict content, but it is also considered by some as one of the worst decisions on First Amendment rights.

    The Supreme Court case :

George Carlin died on June 22, 2008. He wrote about the case in his autobiography, Last Words.

FCC vs Pacifica has become a standard case to teach in communications classes and many law schools. I take perverse pride in that. I’m actually a footnote to the judicial history of America.

Of course, critics of the decision would also probably agree with another of his famous quotes:

''Think of how stupid the average person is, and realize half of them are stupider than that. ''

That kind of humour that I luv about him :

George Carlin on Students and Parents, Phone Calls,Bluetooth.... Hope you enjoy !

He's one of my heroes. I just love to watch him doing standup especially those later ones where he is, as he describes it, an old f*ck. I have all of his specials and I watch those from time to time and they still make me laugh.
