Paprika...you were fortunate to get out of your cult situation at a younger age! What was your "trigger" point?

Hi Foxie Loxie,

The trigger for me happened gradually. It came in bits and pieces after a series of events, observations and recognitions. It's easier to see the truth of something while you're on the outside of it, however because I was born into it - it took a length of time to discover what exactly a JW was. It wasn't easy to go against my family as this was the ultimate sin and sacrifice, and I risked disownment by doing so. And yet I began to peel away the layers after being molded and brainwashed since birth. I found shady doings behind the scenes, and MANY holes in their doctrine, and as a tween I started to realize I was sick and tired of not having my questions addressed with logic or with respect. We were told to simply "trust in Jehovah," and as a developing child, that didn't cut it for me anymore. The funny thing is, I wanted to believe. I gave them a chance to show me why the Jehovah's Witness were the "one true religion," and no one... NO ONE could show me anything that correlated to such a strong entitlement. The congregation reprimanded me for questioning the word of "god" - and I became an outsider for that. As a result my family was scrutinized for this and became consistently bullied and undermined by the elders. However, for me to finally leave, it took a series of unfortunate and terrible things that happened to my family (which out of respect to them, I will not go into here). But I will say this - most of my family made it out OK (my parents being committed as a JW for 30 years, thankfully found their courage to leave).

I know first hand how dangerous organizations that prey on your vulnerabilities are - and how they abuse and destroy the very essence of who you are. In the beginning it may seem all warm and fuzzy - hopeful and special. To be among "the chosen few," well that's amazing isn't it! The dangers of being segregated from others and not allowing to question anything can only lead to one thing... the loss of yourself. To add to this, there are other very real types of losses that can occur such as financial loss, career loss and yes - even human casualties. It took years for our family to get over the damages done - but we are so much better for it today. Free in our beliefs, and independent in our thoughts. We are doing well

The moment I saw Corey Goode, I knew exactly what he represented. My experience as a JW taught me how to recognize shady operations - so much so, it sticks out like a beacon in the dead of night. I knew to stay the heck away from CG, but one day my mother approached me and asked me about him. Instead of giving her my two cents, I wanted to collect valid and hard evidence that he is not to be trusted. This is why I joined the forum and why I follow this thread (along with DJ). Thank you all for collecting and sharing such evidence. Suffice it to say, we have no blue avian believers in this house.

That's confusing to me. It's hard to know who Laura is calling a 'you ungrateful PRICK' because it's in singular person. It was the day after the conversation with CG of see you in August.

Thanks for sharing, Paprika! It really IS sad how "religions" ruin so many lives, isn't it?! A child is brainwashed into whatever the parents guide him or her. I think older people join cults mainly for the feeling of being "accepted" to have a feeling of "belonging", which can be comforting. Good to hear your family is doing o.k. now!
Avalon is a good place to "trade stories" & hear how other people have arrived at their conclusions!

It was a few hours in the morning hours after the posting. She is addressing someone trolling the video and several people protesting it. Just scroll all the posts there and you'll see she swears like a sailor. LOL... I posted the one mentioning the "mission".

I was surprised by her language.

I listened to one of Laura's videos where she was in a lot of pain and financial straights from a car accident. She went on how she had children to support and it's a struggle to make ends meet month after month. I've since learned her boys are 17 years old. To my way of thinking, they could help with part time jobs rather than Laura compromise her integrity.

If people are really that conditioned to believe what it is he is saying, then they deserve one-another. I think, by now, that we are all fully aware of just what it is that's going down here. There's enough evidence to support either view, if you're so inclined.

People pays their money and takes their choices.

We only truly learn from our mistakes. People should be left alone to make their own mistakes, or not.

To me, it's that simple.

I agree with a caveat. People should be able to learn from their own mistakes and left to them, but once deceptive practices begin I feel that those who know about the subject at question have an obligation to provide the "other side" at a minimum.

The so called "ascension" term literately is of wanting to be the lucky chosen and to die for a(or many) so called "higher being(s)" or "ascended master(s)", why put someone over self (worship)? why have blind faith? why not question? As well as the terms of words , and what the words are; such as; "harvesting", that to me literately sounds like a term to enslave people.
