    Besides the "van attack" that has apparently killed 13 so far there are also reports that two gunmen have taken hostages in a bar in the city center

    As a Barcelona Resident this is very distressing. Watching the news roll in on the local Catalan news, and they have just announced, that they have found the passports in the van used in the attack. Everyone was asking why do they always leave behind their passports? Man is a Spanish resident but actually Moroccan.

    Only six months ago I told a class full of students any attack in Barcelona will be a speeding van going down La Rambla. It´s the copycat of Nice, France attack. Watch them put up bollards tomorrow, just sadly a day too late.

    Why indeed...

    That's probably the last thing I would take with me on a tactical maneuver, that makes me question the whole thing.

    Ha. Passports. Sorry for anyone in Barcelona, I know its traumatizing, I lived through many "terrorist' attacks in London, and a couple in Taiwan. But finding the passports conveniently laid out on the back of the van? It's like a bad detective movie or a Scooby Doo plot. I guess so the police can later confirm they were bearded men of Middle-eastern origin, clutching a copy of the Koran and shouting Allah Ackbar.

    Why would anyone take a passport to a terrorist bombing?

    Seems like that's how intelligence operations work. Or does anyone believe that ISIS is really this organized? And with all of the mass surveillance how cannot the governments stop these kind of terror attacks? They are happening all the time now, it's like a pattern which keeps on repeating.

    Guess what. In the Christmas market Truck that did the attack in Berlin/Germany they found the passport of the driver (Anis Amri) ! But the best passport story by far is the passport of Mohammed Atta that flew through the airplane, the explosion and through the whole tower and landed save and unburnt some street away infront of a Police officer on the pavement.
    Thinking of it, also in the Paris and Nizza attacks passports of the attackers where found.

    update:
    21:26
    two suspects have been arrested
    21:37
    an hour ago a driver at a Police checkpoint drove over two officers and broke through the checkpoint (in the North / Sant Just Desvern). No Information about the health of the two officers.
    23.00 (german time)
    Police confirmes that the driver that drove over two officers at a checkpoint has been shot. The Police did not confirm that this event and the truck attack are related.
    23.12
    None of the arrested persons was the Driver of the truck. Police states.
    update 2
    The Minister of internal affairs speaks of more than 100 injured.

    The Chief of Police said that there was an explosion in a house in catalonia yesterday in which where was one person killed. This is supposed to be linked to the attack in Barcelona today.

    RE passports; I just wanted to bring this thought because like other people, as soon as I read that the passports were found in the van I thought the same.

    However, upon thinking like a person who is in another country with their passport; when you travel into another country, where are you comfortable leaving your passport? In my experience, when I am in another country I always want to have my passport with me. Thinking from the perspective of being in another country planning to break the law, if you changed your mind and wanted to flee out of the country, you would need your passport. It is very possible that the terrorists abandon their passports at the last possible moment before they commit their atrocities.

    I just think we can't let the fact that the passports are easily found to be proof of anything except that they are the possible passports. They needed them to get into the country, and they might need them for something again if they change their plans. But, if they are residents of that country, then I would be suspicious of finding the passports in that manner.

    come on! If you plan to do something like this you have a plan to get out, through airport or train, you can leave the passport in any security cage at those places, or , how about your own pocket?
    This is one more false flag attack and we know it. Plus, part of the people from Cataluña are screaming for their independence from Madrid. To me Barcelona is being choosed as the place to attack, probably by our own goberment who surely knew about this was going to happen. Now our goberment has people asking for more security....thus cutting our freedome even farder.WE know here who Isis is and who does support it.
    Of course i send love to the victims and beloved ones, but noone talks in my country about Yemen, for example.

    Sounds like (I haven't verified, but I'm sure sunwings is more up to date on this info than I) he was a resident of spain.. so this take on the situation is sort of nullified.

    Sorry for nor translating the link to English.... in summary... it's other false flag operation (from my point of view not related with neither the "official" Spanish government nor the independence (and very manipulated) issue.

    Strange days have found us. Strange days have tracked us down. They're going to destroy our casual joys. We shall go on playing or find a new town.

    No fear.
    I whish the truth pours out big time....**** hitting the fan all over NOW!
    Much love
    Amazingly vert well pointed!

    Sorry for everyone affected in any sense.

    This has started some time ago when Catalonia request its independence.
    Then the "movie" started:
    1-US secret services warned Spanish authorities that will be terrorist attacks in Spain;
    2-Immigrants came suddenly on Spanish beach about two weeks ago;
    from bbc and rt:

    3-Terrorist attacks happened;
    4-Claims from ISIS (paid by US tax payers via three letters US agencies);
    5-Truly hopefully the end of Spanish episode and be at least the end of entire European series.

    This were the answer:
    - for Catalonia for its request for independence
    - for France that "they" want Macron on throne
    - for British if they change the plans about Brexit
    - for Germany that they must keep there the refugees as an endless punishment for "wars".
    Did I missed somebody?

    Only six months ago I told a class full of students any attack in Barcelona will be a speeding van going down La Rambla. It´s the copycat of Nice, France attack. Watch them put up bollards tomorrow, just sadly a day too late.
    Foreseen?Surely yes.

    It's like a bad detective movie or a Scooby Doo plot. I guess so the police can later confirm they were bearded men of Middle-eastern origin, clutching a copy of the Koran and shouting Allah Ackbar.
    Very funny but very sad in the same time."They" think we are stupid.

    Seems like that's how intelligence operations work. Or does anyone believe that ISIS is really this organized? And with all of the mass surveillance how cannot the governments stop these kind of terror attacks? They are happening all the time now, it's like a pattern which keeps on repeating.
    Answering to your second question:because both parties involved have mutual interest.

    In Romania we have a saying:God forbids you when hot polenta is exploding.Its worst than s**t hitting the fan.
    "Your planet is forbidden for an open visit - extremely aggressive social environment,despite almost perfect climatic conditions.Almost 4 billion violent deaths for the last 5000 years and about 15000 major military conflicts in the same period."

    Yesterday there was a suspected terror attack too here in Finland, right after the Barcelona attack.

    There will be always somewhere an aftermath,just to keep people under certain pressure for "their" sadistic pleasure.

    Thanks for that Jim Morrison quote. He knew what was coming, strange days indeed.
