Ancient Russia (Megaliths, Caves, Sacred Sites etc)

The intention of this Thread is that we can put all things related to ancient Russia here and we dont have to start tons of Threads in the future.

Some of these megalitic sites are heavily eroded on the outside what made me think that some of them are not from the last cycle (juga) like Atlantis and Lemuria (Mu) but maybe two or three jugas old. In the Vedas it is said that we now live in the seventh juga. But thats just speculation from my side.

Ancient cavehousing on the Crimean Peninsula near the Mangup Fortress. Sometimes called Feodoro or Theodoro. But most call it Eski Kermen [Эски-Кермен]. That translates to "Old Fortress".
Wikipedia says its from the 14th century, but hey thats Wikipedia for you. We all know that Wikipedia is the smalest common nominator between the one eyed people.

Since there are cavepaintings in there my guess would be that these housecaves are at least 30.000-40.000 years old. Maybe much much older and the stoneage guys just found and used them.

Take a look at that, they hollowed the whole mountain !

Hi Uzn, thanks for the great pics. Given the extent of errosion, and the size of the excavations, these sites could be millions of years old. Although the geological studies of this link are not limited to Russia, i believe its relevant to the cave dwellings of this ancient era.

Giant ramparts guarded Altai Mountains against attack from the north, says leading archaeologist Professor Andrey Borodovsky. The wall complex - now almost hidden to the naked eye - is believed to date from a long era that also saw such constructions as the Great Wall of China and Hadrian's Wall.

Concealed under thick layers of turf are huge stones put in place by ancient man, says the scientist. Six rows of a parallel wall system limited access to the Altai Mountain complex from the north via the valley of the Katun River. Their width is a substantial ten meters with an impressive height of up to eight meters.

It is not known who built the giant ramparts. 'To the east of these walls is a fairly wide passage, which is limited at the mountainside by another series of walls, oriented west-east across the Katun valley,' he said.

There are nine walls adjacent to the mountain slope.

Professor Andrey Borodovsky said: 'These walls were clearly made to cut off crowds of people, and make them go through a narrow passage in the direction chosen by the creators of the (construction).'

In this way access from the steppes to the mountains - the home of ancient civilizations, for example of the Pazyryk people - could be controlled.

Some of the walls were destroyed by the construction of the Chuya highway in tsarist times, modernized by Stalin using prisoner labor. [...]

Prof Borodovsky insists geophysical analysis using scans shows the structures here were manmade not natural. He has announced plans to conduct detailed research here next year, which - while not long in total length, with more than 1 kilometer identified - are high in historical significance.

So far archaeological evidence of man from the areas around the walls points to a medieval presence yet the researcher from the Institute of Archaeology and Ethnography in Novosibirsk is convinced proof will be found of their construction much earlier.

'Geophysics has clearly confirmed that the Souzga walls were artificially created,' he told The Siberian Times.

Dolmens of Russia

Lets take a look at the megalithic Dolmens of Russia. They are found all over the place and are said to be at least 25.000 years old. Some official reserches say they are just 4.000 years old.

The openings are so small that a human can get in there but nothing bigger. Nowadays we use a similar technique for birds with Birdhouses. They protect the birds from bigger predators like cats and birds of prey.


The question is what where these guys protecting themselves from. And how could they build These massive Houses.

Most of them are in the Caucasian Mountains, not far from Tzelentzchik, Touapse, Novorossiysk and Sochi. There are hundreds if not thousands of them.

remember these giant blocks are very eroded on the outside. This could well be an old giant fortress that collapsed over millions of years.

In the norse mythology the gods made a deal with the giants so that the giants build them their fortress.

More ancient russian Caves in Ani. Ani lies in Armenia. Ani is also called the land of the thousand churches. Everywhere there are old churches in the middle of nowhere like these.

WOW! This has all been amazing!! Thanks to everyone! I am wondering if the dolmens could have been used to shield people from comet debris? The caves in the hillsides make one think of the Ajanta caves of India.

Whatever cut the stones it was like cutting through butter. What of further research about the culture and created structures? Archaeologist should be going bananas over this. The post above by justplain shows how difficult to do the work. Heres the link again.

This is the Tomb of Mithrades in Kirch (nowadays Crimea). Sometimes also called Royal Tomb of Kirch. The official dating is about 600 - 400 BC. I am not so sure if it has anything to do with a persian Mithracult (Suncult).
It is inside a Mound. By the way, it´s just speculation that this is a burrial mound.

The Arch is very interesting, same arches have been used in pre-egypt (the big Pyramid) and in mayan architecture
