You've been busy this morning Randles! Thanks for all the info......I know the translations are lifted from somewhere else. I still understand it and appreciate it. I just may need to read it a couple times. I know translating word for word would be impossible. Wish I could speak spanish! I can feel what your saying about the people of the islands throughout this whole thread. No doubt they are some amazing people. Must be so fantastic to live there.

I wake up in the morning and have my coffee to this thread. It's pretty much the only thread I read on this site now. I look forward to this information. Perhaps one day I can visit one of the islands. Anyways, enjoy your day Randles. Peace and love to you....

PEVOLCA allows the return home of all the residents evacuated

DIARIODEAVISOS.COM | SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE

The direction of the Civil Protection Plan for Volcanic Risk (PEVOLCA) today authorized the return home of all the neighbors who remained evacuated in the area of Las Puntas and the Pozo de Las Calcosas and the opening of the Eco-museum and El Lagartario and the reopening of the roads which remain closed at night (HI-5, where the tunnels Roquille, HI-500 and HI-50). However, it should be stressed that it maintains the red light, Level 1, for La Restinga, in the municipality of El Pinar, and yellow for the rest of the island.

The only Civil Protection extraordinary measures that are currently maintained the ban on access to the beaches of Puerto Naos and Tacorón and maritime exclusion zone.

However, keeping the red light, Level 1, for La Restinga, in the municipality of El Pinar, and yellow for the rest of the island. The only Civil Protection extraordinary measures that are currently maintained is the ban on access to the beaches of Puerto Naos and Tacorón and maritime exclusion zone, Informed by the Government of the Canary Islands in a statement.

Regarding the Tunnel of Roquille it should be noted that the Department of Infrastructure of Road Systems will create a work area where there were defects in the shotcrete, so will this institution, together with the City Council of El Hierro, who will have to specify when and how to open the rail, in Frontier in the direction of-Valverde, which remained closed for the studies to be performed.

These decisions are made due to the reduced chance to occur high seismicity of magnitude exceeding 4.5 on the Richter scale, the maximum level established for the IGME that could produce landslides on the slopes of the tunnel. In addition, the earthquakes that are occurring are occurring at a depth of more than ten miles.

On the other hand, proceeded to place three accelerometers in the escarpment of the slope adjacent at Frontera tunnel, which allows greater control of potential landslides.

As preventive measures, will remain in El Hierro equipping the Red Cross and the EMU, as well as network communications, transport and port stations Advanced Command (PMA).

    Evolution Process

Regarding the crisis volcanic earthquake PEVOLCA Scientific Committee reported that we are in a more relaxed state because in the past fortnight there has been no significant seismic activity, the magnitudes of the movements have been below 3.7, the horizontal deformation does not have a vertical pattern and remarkably show a downward movement with the exception of El Golfo. In the latter case, the west, Sabina and Pozo de la Salud aimed at stability.

As for the eruptive process of La Restinga, the Scientific Committee said that is ongoing, as evidenced by the finds in the tremor amplitude confirming that the volcano is still emitting material and depending on what it is colored differently.

Since the first bathymetry by the scientific team Ramón Margalef ship has seen a decrease in the height of the volcano, which means that sectoral frequent landslides occurring typical of underwater eruptions.

Although the emission level has registered an increase it must be observed, according to the Institute volcanological de Canarias (Involcan), this is understandable because magma is still moving.

Finally, the Scientific Committee said that the scenario of a possible eruption in the north is still open but said that the situation is not clear, nor is imminent at the time

I must admit, when I saw the pics yesterday, I was absolutely sure that I had already archived them a week or so ago..
Streaming was coming through announcing that they were newly released...
confirmation finally came when I compared each one with Earthquakereport.com via their flicker page as uploaded and confirmed by Joke...

    [...]
    Correct!

They were taken on the 23rd of November.

I finally managed to reconstruct the picture sequence:

    For the day:

Frequencies spectrogram, the vertical streaks indicate “events” (tremors/EQs) whereas the horizontal ones reflect volcanic/magmatic activity:
Quote From Wikipedia: A Harmonic tremor is a sustained release of seismic and/or infrasonic energy typically associated with the underground movement of magma and/or venting of volcanic gases from magma. Being a long-duration continuous signal from a temporally extended source, a volcanic tremor contrasts distinctly with transient sources of seismic radiation, such as tremors that are typically associated with earthquake and explosion.

Interesting 3D rendering of the earthquake clouds by AVCan:

What's becoming obvious is the structual control of these EQs along the main rift discovered by Ramon Margalef precise bathymetry (see post # 1632)

    Confirms the Earthquake-report.com witness:

Joke reports that her friend, the La Restinga human webcam, has growing fear that a new evacuation is not far away as the stain is very visible from the village this morning (Ian reported the same in his 09:52 update). She thinks that if the wind eventually changes, La Restinga might be in the center of the storm again.

Low seismic activity on Friday and early Saturday

    DIARIO DE AVISIOS | Valvede

The National Geographic Institute (IGN) has registered on the island of El Hierro on Friday a total of 9 earthquakes of between 1.5 and 3.1 magnitude on the Richter scale. In total, since the day July 17, 2011 11 842 events have been found.

The largest of the earthquakes recorded at 02.35 hours, had a magnitude of 3.1 degrees and felt by the population with a maximum intensity of III in the town of Frontera. This event was located at sea 20 kilometers deep.

The rest of recorded earthquakes have been located in the Gulf, aligned in the NNW / SSE at sea and a depth between 15 and 24 kilometers deep. The last of these, 2.0 degrees, occurred at 21.19 hours about 18 km depth and epicenter in the sea.

    No earthquakes early Saturday

The island of El Hierro has dawned without recording a single earthquake, after four months of intense activity.

However, until 10 hours have been recorded four most intense movement of 2.7 degrees on the Richter scale, with a hypocenter depth of 20 km, all in the Northwest Frontier.

    The stain remains widespread

The stain caused by the eruption is ongoing underwater off the coast of La Restinga has remained widespread in surface appreciating certain sporadic changes in hue. The sending center has presented a brown color associated with the emission of fine material.

For its part, the results of processing the data obtained with the GPS stations do not reflect any clear trend in the horizontal components other than the regional. Vertically majority view stations and only a collapse of El Golfo seem to point to a stability, mainly in the east.

The amplitude of the tremor is stable

On the tremor signal, its amplitude is maintained at levels similar to those of the previous day. In the analysis of the data is not evidence of any second source of tremor.

Protective measures removed for the population of El Hierro

The normality returns, for the moment, to El Hierro. The stability of the seismic-volcanic phenomenon has allowed the Emergency Plan Volcanic Islands (Pevolca) rule that it can suspend the measures taken so far. These affected a dozen people from the north, who had evacuated since early November, and the reopening of roads were closed, and the possibility of using the tunnels Roquille 24 hours a day.

The mayor of La Frontera, David Cabrera, has man been satisfied by the return to normalcy in the area.

The only measures which remains is the closure of the bays of Puerto Naos Tacorón and as long as the underwater eruption continues can not be ruled out that emissions of gases that accumulate there.

The reason for the decision is that the southern eruptive process runs its course without more novelty other than emissions variables to the sea. To the north are not expected earthquakes of a magnitude greater than 4.5, so that the risk of landslides has increased in an area where, on the other hand, there are continuous phenomena of this kind by the rains, according to neighbors.

All other indicators remain within expectations. CO2 levels rise, but that is normal because there are still emissions from magma, even underwater. The tremor is constant, and ground deformation increases somewhat in the north. However, there is no prospect of opening a new volcanic vent in the area.

The ship measures Ramon Margalef indicate that the cone in front of La Restinga loses height, confirming that there have been landslides.

The volcano drives pyroclastics back to the surface

    DIARIOELHIERRO.ES, writing (11.26.2011. 16:22 pm)

The submarine volcano has returned to La Restinga and is expelling pirclastos smoldering this morning to the sea surface, as confirmed by sources to Diario El Hierro However, this afternoon the situation has returned to normal in the area of eruption.

On the other hand, the National Geographic Institute has confirmed this morning to address the Civil Protection Plan for Volcanic Risk (Pevolca) during the day yesterday, Friday, 10 earthquakes were located, being only one of them felt by the population with an intensity of III.

Most of these events are located in El Golfo aligned in the NNW / SSE in the sea at a depth between 15-24 km. The more intense, with a magnitude of 3.1 on the Richter scale, occurred at 2:35 hours west of Frontera at a depth of 20 kilometers. In total, since the day July 17, 2011 11 842 events have been found.

Update for Sunday 27 November from Earthquakereport.com

    Data Update 27/11 – 09:14
The activity at the eruption area gets even stronger than before. The webcam operator just zoomed out a little to have a wider scoop. Earthquake-report.com expects more action today. A stronger Jacuzzi and from time to time a swelling geyser type action.

Sunday morning action in the Las Calmas sea

    Data Update 27/11 – 08:50
The coast guard boat on the image will have the best pictures. What he does is however very risky as nobody can predict the start of a subaerial phase of the eruption.

Coast guard ship on the eruption site - screenshot courtesy Birgit Hartinger

    Data Update 27/11 – 08:09
    - the action which started yesterday by floating smoking stones is continuing this morning, hot pyroclastic material is floating to the surface. Just behind a weak Jacuzzi is formed. All this can be seen on the Telefonica eruption webcam.

Looked pretty busy at La Restinga this morning...

... between Polly smoking, the search & Rescue vessel Salvamar Adhara (looks pretty red, to me, for a coast guard... I think Armand is a bit confused...) and the Guardia Civil rotating wings contraption... hope their duct-tape is H2S resistant...

I guess they got a good whiff of what Polly's smoking...
