Default Artificial Intelligence, High Technology and Robots: the Salvation or Damnation of Humanity?

[ Mod-edit: this post began life over on another thread, as The Moregellons and Artificial intelligence connection - by Kandy Griffin -- Post #14. It was worthy of its own thread, in my view, so I used this post to start this new thread. -- Paul. ]

No personal offense intended, Paul, but you opened-the-door with your analysis, so I'll use it as a spring-board for this interpretation:

It never ceases to amaze, how the majority of very intelligent people are the ones who are actively heralding-in the Robotic State. It's as if no one is looking at the Big Picture.

As the Mass of Humanity races toward a Technological Singularity, the most brilliant among us are ignoring the probability that, once the robots are smarter than humanity, humanity will cease to exist.

....Fear porn, or revelation? Allow those with whom the message harmonizes be the judge.

It's not the robots that concern me, so much as the bastards who control the use of robots, on a wide scale, and the systemic destruction of the human individual, family and community.

Once upon a time, the family farm was a bastion of strength in the culture and communities of ordinary humans. That has been destroyed by massively mechanized farming, which depends on large scale financing by the banks of land and equipment. I lived on such a small farm, watching it be destroyed, my father's 20 cow dairy farm, by just such means, the first 10 years of my life.

More recently, the bastion of strength of the black communities in America was their families, with the father earning minimal, but sufficient, wages, first on the farms in the south and then when they were mechanized (see above), in the automotive and similar factories in the north, especially in Detroit. That too has now been destroyed, with the black mother often getting more money from social programs than from the unemployed father of her children, and with Detroit going from one of the wealthiest cities in the world to one of the most devastated, in just a few decades.

Now the factory worker (thanks to factory automation and robots), the delivery man or woman (thanks to drones), the fast food worker (thanks to more robots), and retail store clerk (thanks to the move to massive online sales) are all facing serious staff reductions. Soldiers, police, doctors, nurses and teachers are also finding themselves in the cross hairs of massive centralization, automation, and standardization changes, which will decimate their numbers.

Families and communities, as well as individuals of robust mind, body and spirit, which form the backbone of humanity, are being run through a sausage grinder.

Centralization of control, and weakening of the individual, family and community, all done in so many and such persistent ways, over centuries, are a grave danger to humanity, and an irresistible opportunity for the control freak and power hungry.

Robots lack a soul, or even any semblance of working toward a higher purpose, through thick and thin, across generations and centuries. The control freak bastards on this planet may have damaged souls, but they clearly are not deficient in sustained persistence.

I fear not the robot (well, unless he's a militarized robot whose present orders involve killing me ... then I guess I shall watch myself die.) I oppose the robot masters. Robots and automation could be used for the betterment of humanity, with abundance for all. Unfortunately, that outcome looks to be a long shot right now.

Thank you Paul, for this new platform.

I agree with everything you say in your comment #2.

I point to where you equate my reference to, "the most brilliant among us", to the "the Robot Masters" (my interpretation).

There is very little contrast between those who would unwittingly drive this Technological Singularity to occur, and those who would seek to dominate the consequences. Both are traveling a slippery-slope to the destruction of the Human Race, whether they are aware or not.

It's all about the culpability of those responsible for creating the monster.

For instance, once one discovers the culprit bankers who financed the Nazi Party into power, does one give those bankers a pass? When any individual makes a conscious choice for personal gain over the well being of the human community, one is guilty of a crime against humanity. To knowingly create a monster, regardless of any rationalization of noble intentions, in the name of personal gain, is an act of treason against the human race.

Humanity is a species with amnesia. Lost within the collective memory of our species is the awareness of a catastrophic extinction event. It has been suggested, this extinction event was the result of run-away-technology. This reoccurring technological cataclysm model is a template applied to this reality by a species of technologically advanced entities, determined to control three dimensional space - some say robots.

Humanity is trapped in this endless cycle of birth-death-rebirth, feeding these hyperdimensional soulless entities into an ultimate struggle for power; the proverbial "War In Heaven". Any individual who willingly enables this technology agenda, is committing an obscenity against the human species.

The transhumanization of humanity has been and is already taking place. That is the darkest element of any of these technologies IMHO.

Echoing a little of what Paul said, it is awareness of what these technologies actually can do, one becomes less vulnerable to them. There are other ways to be resistant or not affected, such as exopolitical protection or knowing mind control program tactics. These are major motivations for my work, to make these technologies less effective when they are being used as weapons.

I see the public discovery of technology and AI as mostly a positive thing personally. When these technologies are known to exist, and people know for themselves their true potency, only then perhaps will an end to the technological mind control programs be possible. That is why I see it as highly likely that the shadow government is suppressing technological progression as much as possible.

I have had access to end game AI and it isn't something that destroys whole civilizations I'd say. It does have the capability to produce profound and immersive/potent illusions into the perception of humans. It is used as perhaps the biggest modus operandi of control mechanisms in the cosmos.

End game technology and end game AI is is not something to fear IMO, even in our current age, when it actually is out to get people. There have been majorly effective new age psy ops demonizing future technology. I can say from experience after a good 50 years of having electronic telepathy mastered, such will change humanity just as much if not more than the internet did. I see it as revolutionary.

Of course any discussion of Robotic Artificial Intelligence, must include the U.S. Military's J.A.D.E app, where J.A.D.E. is an acronym standing for "JOINT ASSISTANT for DEPLOYMENT and EXECUTION”, and the program is running, making command battlefield decisions, overriding the Military Command Structure. The recent JADE HELM exercise was a test run for the program, where H.E.L.M. is an acronym for "HOMELAND ERADICATION of LOCAL MILITANTS".

This should all come as a comfort to anyone concerned with who is actually in command of "pulling the trigger".

The interview begins around the 20 minute mark:

Exclusive: Air Force Whistleblowers Risk Prosecution to Warn Drone War Kills Civilians, Fuels Terror | Nov. 20, 2015

Has the U.S. drone war "fueled the feelings of hatred that ignited terrorism and groups like ISIS"? That’s the conclusion of four former Air Force servicemembers who are speaking out together for the first time. They’ve issued a letter to President Obama warning the U.S. drone program is one of the most devastating driving forces for terrorism.

They accuse the administration of lying about the effectiveness of the drone program, saying it is good at killing people—just not the right ones. The four drone war veterans risk prosecution by an administration that has been unprecedented in its targeting of government whistleblowers. In a Democracy Now! exclusive, they join us in their first extended broadcast interview. -democracynow.org
The disclosure of these "Drone-Operators-Whistleblowers", begs the question, "just how much of this killing-from-behind-the-smoke-and-mirrors is ordered by a Robotic-Battlefield-Command-Program"? Or, how far has the Master-Robot taken-over control?

I found those men so damaged and contrite, duped and now under even more stress due to their honesty. If noone works for the military, the house of cards will collapse. It is becoming akin to admitting you are 'in finance', as a veil of animosity now overcomes people when faced with the duplicitous vampirism of 'the finance industry'.

Default Re: Artificial Intelligence, High Technology and Robots: the Salvation or Damnation of Humanity?

Before either of the telecoms, information or industrial revolutions there was a clockwork revolution.

We have modern wonders, and increasing wonders every day! But going back a few hundred years there was one revolution that was so mind blowing and so alien it changed things forever and arguably cascaded all the other technological revolutions.

Automatons sprung up to wow and amaze aristocracy.

In the 1740's Archbishop Jakob von Dietrichstein had a really good automaton made; a model of an entire village. He did this instead of focusing on his real village. His real village was a village of abuse as the artisans who built the components for this marvel worked hard for their masters. The finished model village lived in the palace, only viewed by aristocracy. It would be better than seeing the real overworked and abused village! Winning.

A minute of it in action:

People would have never have seen anything like this. Even now these machines wow us, and we live in a high tech world. This was a revolution although a very privileged one, ONLY for the top well to do of the toppest well to do.

The devices got increasingly sophisticated as these became a status symbol, like mobile phones can be, to the point that Jacques de Vaucanson aimed to simulate living things in his automatons. He created a fabled clockwork flute player, who's fingers closed the holes on the flute.

This raised discussions on the difference between humans and automatons, because if an automaton could play the flute as beautifully as this, then seeing that for the very first time in history would make your brain explode. It might have also inspired the guillotine lol. Irony? People get stoked when they see what AI can do for the first time, but this was similar with no prior frame of reference.

But just before anyone could come to terms with that, in the 1760's and 1770's Pierre Jaquet-Droz created the worlds first meme generator. This was highly ingenious, and mechanically programable. I can't emphasise how phenomenally impressive this automaton is.

This little guy writes a message in neat joined up writing if he has an inked pen in his hand. The motions of his mechanical arm are driven by stacks of bumpy disks that replay arm movements in the same way grooves on a record work.

You can arrange the letters on the back of the device so it writes your message with his clockwork, analogue-powered joined up writing: Are you thinking what I'm thinking? "Never gonna give you up never gonna let you down never gonna turn around and desert you".

The fake boy can also draw a dog, although this shows how old this was! In those days they had mostly dogs for memes where we have mostly cats. Such ground breaking stuff, so ahead of its time.

But then, just when people couldn't be more amazed, someone invented a mechanical 'Turkish chess player. It had a mechanical arm and it moved pieces around the chess board. It won every game.

Each prior automaton was as breathtaking as the previous. This 'mechanical Turk' was just as unbelievable as any of the previous ones.

This was the final straw on the camels back which broke the glass ceiling of imagination. Sorry, too many metaphors. The mechanical Turk apparently caused some wealthy fabric industrialists to wonder together over drinks whether or not they could get a mechanical Turk to do weaving? Weaving was dexterously complex, but they were so impressed with the Turk.

This led to the mechanisation of weaving and the industrial revolution as we know it.

Then the people behind the mechanical Turk reviled that it was just a bloke in a box. True story.

Thanks to this video which is where I learnt everything.

    Interesting topic.

Automatons actually far precede the 1700s. We can point to various examples in the ancient stories of Greece and Egypt. Granted, perhaps some are perhaps more myth than story, like the famed Talos, the vast, bronze giant that walked the shores of Crete to guard its vulnerable citizens (famously depicted in the movie Jason and the Argonauts).

But there are other depictions of automata in antiquity which, though less-known, are likely to have really existed. Hero of Alexandria was such ancient 'scientist', supposedly credited with making the first cuckoo clock, with automated whistling sounds and a moving owl (steam-powered).

There's also evidence that automation was used extensively in ancient religious sites. Temple doors would be known to open automatically (using pressure plates and a steam-powered crank), statues could move, pouring wine into a cup, and ancient vending machines were quite common place, which for a small fee would dispense offerings for visiting worshippers. The purpose of course was to dazzle and frighten, and convince the witness a miracle had taken place. This ensured their devotion (and a generous donation).

Another genius was 12th century artisan, Al-Jazari. One of his most famous devices was a 'robot band'. This machine was set up on a boat that floated in a lake. Using a system of wires, pegs, and levers, the instrumentation and percussion could be pre-programmed. The figures also, allegedly, could move individually, and could even display a range of different facial expressions.

Robots may seem like a completely modern phenomenon, but the idea of creating artificial beings is by no means new. In this video we’ll look at the ancient predecessors of our modern robots, and see their development from a concept in mythology, to the earliest simple devices, and finally to full-fledged self-moving statues.

Vatican announces that artificial intelligence will be theme of next World Day of Peace
By Courtney Mares - Rome Newsroom, Aug 8, 2023

    https://www.catholicnewsagency.com/n...d-day-of-peace

The Vatican announced Tuesday that Pope Francis’ annual peace message for 2024 will focus on artificial intelligence (AI).

A statement from the Vatican’s Dicastery for Promoting Integral Human Development on Aug. 8 described an “urgent need” to guide the development and use of artificial intelligence in a responsible way, requiring that “ethical reflection be extended to the sphere of education and law.”

“Pope Francis calls for an open dialogue on the meaning of these new technologies, endowed with disruptive possibilities and ambivalent effects,” it said.

The Vatican office noted that artificial intelligence technologies are having “a rapidly increasing impact on human activity, personal and social life, politics and the economy” and called for vigilance to ensure that technological development contributes to “the promotion of justice and peace in the world.”

Years before the widely-popular release of the GPT-4 chatbot system, developed by the San Francisco start-up OpenAI, the Vatican was already heavily involved in the conversation of artificial intelligence ethics, hosting high-level discussions with scientists and tech executives on the ethics of artificial intelligence in 2016 and 2020.

Pope Francis has repeatedly called for making “the intrinsic dignity of every man and every woman the key criterion in evaluating emerging technologies.”

Last month, the Vatican’s education and culture office published an introduction to a 140-page ethics handbook for the tech industry published by the Institute for Technology, Ethics, and Culture (ITEC) at California’s Santa Clara University.

The World Day of Peace — instituted by St. Paul VI in 1968 — is celebrated each year on Jan. 1, the solemnity of Mary, Mother of God. The pope provides a message for the occasion, which is sent by the Vatican to foreign governments around the world.

In last year’s message for the World Day of Peace, Pope Francis asked: “What did we learn from the pandemic?”

“Artificial Intelligence and Peace,” will be the official theme of the 2024 World Day of Peace. The pope’s message is expected to be released publicly in early December.

Default Re: Artificial Intelligence, High Technology and Robots: the Salvation or Damnation of Humanity?

I forgot I posted in this thread already, but it's also the perfect thread for my other brain dump on this subject. I was thinking about possible A.I. usage guidelines in preparation for a job interview. This is a dump of what I've learnt recently:

    Artificial Intelligence Usage Guideline Considerations:
    • Content created by A.I. is copyrighted by the A.I.
    • You are liable for A.I. generated content you publish
    • Privacy - A.I. learns from your input, which models its future output, so delete requests might be tricky. It's a learning machine so 'remembering' is what it does
    • Data sharing - the A.I. data set is so valuable it will propagate commercially as a cohesive data set across companies, so if it gets copied around you ain't deleting that

For copyright reasons employed humans should create commercial content, not A.I. (code, articles, etc). This is so A.I. does not have the copyright on any company content, the company holds the copyright for its own stuff.

For privacy purposes we can consider sharing sensitive content with A.I. as the same as sharing content with a competitor

So code creator assistants powered by A.I., code checkers likewise etc, and any kind of A.I. content create assist would fall foul of these guidelines, from a copyright and privacy point of view.

However, some A.I. use doesn't threaten copyright and privacy, if it's used to learn - provided privacy isn't compromised.

If we rely on A.I. to create content that might work out, but then the engineer becomes an A.I. operator and they would become fewer and fewer. This is fine from the companies point of view.

However, if we use A.I. to become better content creators then that also works, and doesn't threaten copyright.

One of these approaches is human-bias and human-empowering, but the other is devastatingly easy to use, seductive, and a path to your redundancy when you think about it. Companies would be ok with this.

For a human-bias workplace using A.I to learn how to be a better content creator would be good use of A.I., but relying on A.I. generated (A.I. copyrighted) content would be bad use.

Food for thought on this: sharing your final code with an A.I. to me would fall under the human-bias good use; that the human has created the content but wants a second pair of eyes. However, corrections might be copyright A.I., and there is a privacy issue.

Samsung Electronics Co. is banning employee use of popular generative AI tools like ChatGPT after discovering staff uploaded sensitive code to the platform, dealing a setback to the spread of such technology in the workplace.

The Suwon, South Korea-based company notified staff at one of its biggest divisions on Monday about the new policy via a memo reviewed by Bloomberg News. The company is concerned that data transmitted to such artificial intelligence platforms including Google Bard and Bing is stored on external servers, making it difficult to retrieve and delete, and could end up being disclosed to other users, according to the document.

Artificial Intelligence Is Not Your Friend - Terence McKenna on Upcoming Dangers

from the youtuber creator channel: "I made this video with the help of Artificial Intelligence to prove the point Terence McKenna makes in this video that AI will surpass the human production in all the levels."

from the comments: " Sooner than later, we may not be able to tell if this was made with the original Terence's voice " <--- actually this is not Terrence voice, it is very close, but for those listening Terrence for decades, we know the differences.
