Ignore list - useful tool!

In times of change maybe useful to remeber that in the User CP there is an option that says

Edit ignore list

And if one is to type there the name of the posters that one whishes to ignore they disappear automaticaly from one's screen so we don't have to bother knowing of the existance of certain threads :lmfao:

I think it is a awesome gadget! :lmao::naughty:

Love to all

So then, which way do you actually want it? Do you want people to stop bringing it up so it will fade? or do you want to keep bringing it up yourself through innuendo and obvious hints?

I thought that was for your visitor page!!

It's for threads? Are you sure?

FAQ
Can I block posts, emails and messages from specific users?

If there are particular members that bother you and you do not want to see their posts or receive Private Messages and Emails from them, then you can add these members to your 'Ignore List'. There are several ways to do this:

Through your User Control Panel: User CP, Settings & Options, Edit Ignore List. Then, type their name into the empty text box and click 'Okay'.

What if I see something offensive?

You will find 'Report' links in many places throughout the board. These links allow you to alert the board staff to anything which you find to be offensive, objectionable or illegal.

This is what it said and I remember I blocked other thread in the past but it does not seem to be working well I will have to ask Anchor

Love

Yes, you can pull the blinds down on your mirror on the threads as well.

I use it for people. You can ignore any user that you don't wish to see. Their posts simply won't show up in any of the threads.

I've been using it for the past few months to weed out the Debbie Downers and obvious disinfo people on the board.

Is it just for thread starters, in which the thread itself does not show up on your New Posts?

I think its a great option after having 'tested' it myself on a couple of forums, but I've never actually put anyone on an ignore list and kept them there. Somebody would have to go really overboard for me to even consider it.

Re-reading, I see you said their posts don't show up in threads. So, their threads don't show up if they started them?

Another down side I can see is that if that person ever tried to send you a private message, he/she must get a reject notice of some kind. I can see this doing harm. Not good.

This is one of the problems in the world, just ignore stuff you cannot stomach or understand. :wall:

Not good in my opinion. I would never igore anyone, no matter how irritating they may be.

Growth requires questions, some of the best questions arise after a good debate, or disagreement.

Gee, I get quoted sometimes so I guess I still make it to some screens and I'm not yet talking alone like a snubbed ghost here.

The ignore feature could actually be a funny alternative to banning members. Ask Gareth to write a script so that instead of forbidding posting to the bad members when banning them, it will instead add them to the ignore list of ALL Avalon's membership at once, except those already banned before and still posting.

Then we could have another feature to override the ignore list and see their posts once in a while for a giggle. It would feel like re-watching The Sixth Sense. An army of banned Bruce Willis clones posting like crazy and without a clue what's going on.

Oh my intention is only to ban a couple of people that are beyond reason

I believe in finding win win situations and don't like people that force themselves unto others disrespecting their free will and free speach. So when things have gone beyond what one can do to satisfy one's spiritual integrity, and ones boundaries keep being breached, I think it is fair to vanish those that chose to be abusive and do not listen.

I am not a victim and I am not going to put up with irrational behaviour :naughty:

OR alternitavley just cocoon yourself.. zzzzzzz boring:mfr_lol:

There is a bunch of infiltrators that are quite obviously harassing people gently, using psychology to get people angry, you can not call the moderators for that so press the bann button. Lots of psychologists

We know who they are

Love to all the real avaloneans and the infiltrators

Oh, that's rich. "We" know who "They" are. What a blatantly polarized statement. Us against them.

Why are you taking this personally? is not about you, is it?

Should we then play the tptb be game and drop our frequency level? play their game?

I'm surprised by how personal this has become as well.

Shaming and insulting...tactics used by those with controlling personalities.

Absolutely! What I don't get is why people can not understand that most of us are beyond convincing and just want to get on with our creative interchanges

It's not personal. And you are playing their game.

"Here...gather round little ones...I'll do your discerning for you, as...welll...you see...I've arrived and you haven't. So trust me to tell you how it is. I've got the Reppie bites as credentials".

What's it's about, is giving people the space to do their own discerning. Not personal at all.

One can not reason with unreasonable people

In advanced societies, when people are unreasonable they are ignored

I find that quite reasonable

who's unreasonable? The one who wants to talk? or the one who says "you're not there"?

Advanced societies have free, open, unhindered communication. No enforcement. No inhibiting. Desire for harmony and understanding. Not "you don't think like me....go away."

This is my last answer to you on this matter

Free will does not mean free for all it obeys the law of cause, effect and consequence

When people behave in a civilized and respectful manner they tend to be welcomed every where now read my leaps....

Abrax is sufferinf the consequences of his behaviour, so be it! it is about time too

Abrax do not need defending

Now let there be peace

Does that mean I go back on ignore? I have a better idea. Why don't we enlightened individuals show them how it's done, and hammer this out? Certainly if we can claim to have made personal progress and gained insight and perspective, we are not intimidated by disagreement?

BTW, who's defending Abrax? Not me. I stand as a counter balance to those who would remove peoples right to do their own discernment.

My attitude is "Sir? I don't agree with what you have to say, but I'd give my life defending your right to say it"

I don't defend Abrax. I defend his rights, because if his can be taken, so can mine and everyone elses.
