Transfer of threads from PA to PA2

I noticed many here are concerned about certain threads at PA not being at PA2

So I asked...Gareth as well as GaiaLove..if there was a way to do this.

The response was..

Yes.

If the OP (original Poster) Registers at PA2 and then msg'es Gareth or Gaialove With their requests to move threads they will respond to you personaly.

I hope this helps....

Dear Celine,

I am wondering as to just what the format is going to be at the new PA2 site. I just get the general impression that it is not going to be forum at all in any real sense, but some kind of 'information portal', with a select group posting certain information and others just 'tagging along'. I may be wrong in this, but this is my general impression. Is this what you understand? Or will it be a standard forum where anybody can post new threads about anything?

The format seems to be the same as here, in general.

The MODS have worked hard to include all aspects of PA in some way or the other....

All registered members will be allowed to post.

Not standard by no means..

Bill, Gareth, GaiaLove, Anchor and many other MODS have worked hard for everyone on this forum..

Well since all of us are moving across, looks like those boys are going to be busy...

Maybe they should just save time and move all of them across in one batch to an Avalon old timers section...

Not all threads coincide with the intent of PA2

The integrity of the content at PA2 is imprtant to the MODS

So threads like "i just saw lady gagas video" probably wont be welcome.

Btw ...before i get accused of trying to be a MOD..i got fed up of people needing to know stuff...and no one was answering..

If it is pretty much going to be the same, but with the added proviso that not everybody will be asked to join, then it seems to me that the only real reason for the transition is to simply have a mass 'clear out' of people considered to be 'undesirables'. In which case, I can only repeat what I said in another post: They should never have ended paid subscriptions. Just my view.

Is there a date set till now for launch of PA2?

Céline 03-14-2010 09:39 PM

Re: Transfer of threads from PA to PA2

The date is here...MODS are begging to set things into motion..

Weekends are hard because MODS are not all here...so this week should be it.

well I meant a type of archive available through searches in PA2 to if an important thread needs to be brought to the top that a Mod can do it by waving their magic wand.

all threads closed to discussion until they are brought over from archive

remember none of us have a clue what is coming but are just tossing out suggestions that might make the transition smoother.

you know, to remember this bumpy ride transitioning over it would be kind of funny to make the archived section called "The Mists of Avalon"

Celine: How & when will be the invites be sent out to those that are being considered for the new PA2?

Also, how do they plan on vetting potential new members from the outside of Avalon? Since some of the existing members will drop out from time to time, the membership will drop off, just wondering?

Thanks Celine, hopefully this transitional period will be over anytime now and we can get on back to all the intellectual discussions with that peaceful and lax Avalon atmosphere and better days to come.

But I'm hearing that it will be invite-only or something like that, so I'm not understanding how this is going to work, do you know if all the members currently active will be automatically registered to the new version, and what will happen to new potential members who want to register, or can they register, do you know anything about that?

Cheers,

The MODS are working on lists of people they will invite personaly (by email) to join PA2. What their criteria for choosing is not something I know.

These first members will be able to invite people once the registration process is compelte (more information on that to come).

In the very near futur there is going to be a link made available to ask for an invite.

This is absolutely atrocious PR

It would have been best if Garath or GaiaLove made these announcements at the time or day before going live. Better still it would have been best if Bill said it.

All you are going to achieve, considering the discourse within the forum, is scare people. Who ever told you to release this information now has potentially caused further mayhem on this forum. Unless that’s the intention.

There will be an announcement very soon made by either Gareth or Bill and the link from the main page will go to the new location. Until that time the new forum isn't to be considered "live".

You know there has been discourse and worry on the forum. There are threads after threads going on and on about this and that. Folk are speculating, picking apart and taking things out of context to the brief post made by admin / mods. This speculation is driving an ethos of fear.

It’s good to know that a high-ranking announcement will be made soon but hasn't the announcement just happened. The cat is already out the bag. My concern was that this premature statement would add further to the forum unrest. It is with that in mind that I state this cat out of the bag is a PR farce. I hope my estimation of further discourse is wrong and that things run smoothly.

Re: Transfer of threads from PA to PA2

I agree..there should have been more openings for a Q&A with MODS..

I found it very frustrating to sit here "knowing that threads would be able to be moved" and waiting for MODS to say something..they didnt..I did...

Perhaps not in the way you would want.. i apologise for that...i am doing my best to help ease the flow of tension

Richard is On skype in a MOD conference call... So please do not take his "not answering you" as a sign of not paying attention.

If you have a question..He is sitting 6 feet away from me..

I can do my best to get you an answer...

If you think its best i dont do that..please tell me why.
