Russian Prime Minister Vladamir Putin has said the US should take a lesson from the pages of Russian history and not exercise “excessive intervention in economic activity and blind faith in the state’s omnipotence”.

I think there are far worse dangers in the world than socialism.

It's time for us to move past this petty partisan bickering. I've noticed that most of your posts tend to lean right and the right wing has no new ideas (ditto for the left as well).

the american fear of socialism is very interesting. i think that it still emanates from the mcarthy era. the 'kill a commie for christ' mentality is still quite prevalent in many area of the states, as evidenced by the many ultra right wing, often christian, websites and forums that exist on the net.
in the past, soviet commerce was controlled by party fatcats; now it's controlled by the russian mafia with putin's government's collusion.
the average russian is no better or worse off than they were before glasnost.

but, there are very progressive socialist countries in the world. norway and sweeden for example. norwegian are rich with oil and the people benefit, not multi-national oil cartels.

when shtf, people are going to have to become a lot more dependant on the cooperation of their communities for survival. necessity will force communalism. if we try to re-establish the same flawed systems that we now have, the same things will reoccur.

we MUST aquire new ways of thinking if we are to survive.

That's my point. There are progressive socialist countries and that it seems like an American phenomenon to be afraid of socialism/communism.
