Guantanamo inmate 'fit to travel'
 
A British resident held at Guantanamo Bay - Binyam Mohamed - is fit enough to return to the UK, the Foreign Office has said.

I am so glad to get this news - certainly hot off the press!
Have been following this case and just feel so sorry
for this poor guy. What he has been through is no
way to treat any human being.

I just hope he gets back to Britain soon.

Steve - I'm not sure whether you are wishing him
well - or the reverse.

But honestly - this man's military lawyer (Lt. Colonel
Yvonne Bradley) came to Britain last week
specifically relative to this man. She said he was
flesh and bones - dying. It seems that her
intervention has brought about the current
situation.

As you may know, this matter is interwoven with
implications of torture - in which it would seem
both the U.S. and British Intellignce were
implicated. Lt. Colonel Bradley says she has
documented evidence of this (the torture).
The British High Court have accepted evidence
put before them in this regard and have
expressed deep dissatisfaction with the fact
that it could not be made public due to
"national security".
