Any Ideas why they are banning the sale of Iodine in the EU?

http://www.grough.co.uk/magazine/200...-use-of-iodine

I saw the link above and couldnt quite believe it at first. This is crazy. Is this just another way to keep us all sick? If we do end up in more interesting times we will need iodine for water purification and maybe radiation detox....and generally mos of us are iodine deficient anyway.

Maybe stock up, I think it has a long shelf life.

I think it is because you can make iodine into molecules that make things go B O O M !

I'm rarely sick and I usually put all sorts of wierd stuff into the piehole in the middle of my face. I've been drinking mountain water directly from the stream many many times without getting ill. Stale water though...stay away from that! ;)

The only period of time I had notorious returning health problems was during the period I had extensive psychological issues. Anxiety tendecies, depression and paranoia. I had used all my reserves helping my girlfriend deal with her issues and finally met the wall at a new workplace where I was forced to work after a shiftplan involving night time work. The plan had no specific routine, so it completely messed me up.

Bottomline though, I'm back up strong and only getting stronger by the day. Sickness doesn't bite as hard anymore, if it bite at all. I usually fence off whatever comes my way only by never fearing what can make me sick.

So if Iodine is made illegal for sales, worry not. I strongly believe that everyone of us are able to block bad things from coming in, without any outside help. :)

Do you know what Nitrogen triiodide is?

Takes off more fingers than you think.

Also, after reading the article, most people don't know how to purify water properly with iodine and it's probably been causing problems. There are other ways to get iodine, you know.

A bunch of eh hikers are probably pouring the unused iodine out and damaging the environment, too. Depends what the stream chemistry says, too.

Wasn't that recipe in "Poor man's James Bond"? We used to joke and call the author stubby cause he blew off 3 or 4 fingers demonstrating how sensitive the powder is. He blew it up with a feather brushing the powder on some paper.

Yes, it is an extremely dangerous contact explosive and illegal to make in several EU countries.

here in the states the sales of Iodine is watched for several reasons. some are all ready listed. iodine is also a pre curser for making meth. the sales should be watched. but not banned.

One of really nasty things about iodine, besides causing chemical burns, is it sublimates at 68°F. That means it turns into a gas that is potentially lethal.

I just bought some Potassium Iodide today. I've taken 3 pills and now I have a taste of hmmm, sort of like when you get a little bit of detergent in your mouth on the back edges of your tongue.

I'm tired too, so maybe it's doing some good. I read that Iodine article a year ago and meant to start a regimen but didn't. It will be interesting to see some results.

Now I am looking for the Sodium Chlorite without much luck. I might have to order it from ebay for $28.00. Anyone know a good source? I got a pound of citric acid for $10.00. The pool chemical aisle did not have it. They had other stuff, but not just sodium Chlorite.

iodene is availble in uk chemist shops as an antiseptic( the brown stuff they swab on you pre surgery), however potassium iodide is on the controlled substance list and is unavailable to the genral public in britain.

nuclear power stations have potassium iodide tablets in the event of fallout or contamination. i purchased some from texas from ic4u.com.

i spoke to a guy in scotland who has an online store called surivealluk , he repeatedly tried to get his local medical board to let him sell it as thy are next to the doonray reactor.he was met with stoney silence every time and told it was a controlled substance(METHODONE) ect is on the list.

he was mistified as to why, occums razor, they dont want you survivng a nuclear attack.
