Thanks for the interesting article. I do not agree however on moral grounds that shorting many stocks or shorting futures contracts or CFDs etc is the right way to profit in 2009. Of course, you will make money but you will also be guilty of perpetuating the corrupt existing economic financial system.
Shorting stocks should be outlawed. And derivatives should also be banned.
I do not often agree with Warren Buffett but i do have to agree with him when he says that derivatives are "weapons of mass financial destruction."
So, by profiting at the expense of a companies misfortune is not the right way to support that business. it is so easy to see how the larger institutional players have manipulated stocks and futures contracts etc for years, even though they suposedly have the Securities Commission and regulatory bodies that are meant to be strict on compliance and auditing etc. We now just how effective they are don't we??!! (Just look at the recent "Madoff" debacle.)
In summary, the whole financial system needs a mass overhauling! The privately owned Federal Reserve needs to be abolished. The US dollar needs to be backed by Gold but probably not feasible to be fully backed by Gold, that is, partially monetarised by Gold so there is somtehing of tangible and real physical substance behind "money".
That is my opinion anyway, and i used to work in the financial derivatives industry until i saw the light!
