I agree Carmen, although I've seen it in girls too - my sister and I being a perfect example. I've also noticed that the parents in those families favour the 'bad egg/black sheep' up until they just can't cope and the child has turned on them too many times, until that point that child is like the 'prodigal son'. After that, if that emotional breakthrough happens at all, the relationship with the other child improves.
